<blockquote>A good move: Romney has just announced a major economic address on Monday-Tuesday in FL to pre-butt BO’s State of Union address on Tuesday night. Going on offense at last.

Expecting Jeb Bush endorsement by mid-week. Bushes do NOT like Newt, and Jeb’s FL machine very formidable.

With Perry out of the race, Gov Scott is now free to endorse Mitt as well. Expecting Jindal soon too.

A <strong>"good move"</strong> by flip-flopping <strong>RINOs</strong> sucking up to each other? Where are all those off-shore oil-drilling platforms you vetoed, Ol' Jeb?
"Brazil for €2,000, er $1,500, Alex" ...

Make no mistake, Jeb Bush is as RINO as they get.
He and Mittens <em>both</em> want a share of the Oval Office.
<em>(nudge, nudge, wink, wink)</em>
'Tis rather nauseating to this "paleocon" / "conservatarian".

<blockquote>Gingrich won over SC voters by pompously scolding the media for bringing up his serial dirty laundry.

SC = Seriously Chuckleheaded.

And it worked so well that Gingrich won. The the fact that Romney won't reveal his income taxes and essentially was the lynchpin behind the blueprint for Obamacare in Massachusetts, is apparently less immoral, conservatively speaking, than Gingrich's sins of the flesh.

My supposition is that you're incorrect.

<em>Perhaps Newt spoke to the solutions that would bring jobs back to SC instead of politicians who sold out their own constituents for a campaign contribution. This is the reason, I suspect, that most conservatives fear and loathe Romney. He just doesn't articulate that well at all and he doesn't relate well enough.</em>

What other hang-ups do you have?

<blockquote>But this wasn't a grassroots youth movement rooted at the University of South Carolina. Soooo, if evangelicals don't vote for Romney because he's a Mormon, that means evangelicals are bigots, because you shouldn't vote for someone based on religion.

But if Mormons overwhelmingly campaign and vote for a Mormon candidate, that's wonderful.

Interesting.

But, I can always ask God for forgiveness, but I can’t undo 4 more years of Obama. I owe future generations that much if the choice comes to that.

Romney can't even get over the 25% threshold over his Republican competitors, have no idea why anyone would even think he can get over 25% in the general. He failed in 2008, he is failing so far in 2012 even with all the help from RINO establishment. Romney is NOT electable. Numbers don't lie.

Romney had a lead because he has a specific base, that is the Mormon faith, something like 96% of those will vote for him.
When there were others in the race, they divided up many votes, as each one dropped off the votes were consolidating. Mitt has many more detractors than supporters, so they just waited for the field to clear.
Now that it is down to a few, it is clearer that Mitt's base, his faithful brothers, and Wall Street guru's are not enough to carry him. They provide great money, but Mitt doesn't have what it takes to actually win a national election, that has been born out in the prior attempt. He has enough money backing him (10 of his top 10, and 18 of his top 20 financial supporters are Wall Street TARP recipients) to give it a run, but...he doesn't connect with the common voter.
Isn't that obvious? Record amount of money spent on two campaigns and he can't get over the hump...so close, but so far away.

Well, if you've been reading for years you should know that primary season is always like this. After the primary, we rational folks come together and support the nominee. Those that don't just go away because the majority of Hot Air jumps their a$$es for not being team players.

As bad as it was for me to support McCain, it will be double tough for me to support Gingrich. He has already violated the public trust and I'm going to have to vote for him in the general if he is the nominee. Every vote for him is a disgrace to that person. And those who refuse to vote for him out of conscience, will have the moral high ground for standing up against the exact behavior that led our founders to establish this great nation.

Well, if you’ve been reading for years you should know that primary season is always like this. After the primary, we rational folks come together and support the nominee. Those that don’t just go away because the majority of Hot Air jumps their a$$es for not being team players.

As bad as it was for me to support McCain, it will be double tough for me to support Gingrich. He has already violated the public trust and I’m going to have to vote for him in the general if he is the nominee. Every vote for him is a disgrace to that person. And those who refuse to vote for him out of conscience, will have the moral high ground for standing up against the exact behavior that led our founders to establish this great nation.

But, I can always ask God for forgiveness, but I can’t undo 4 more years of Obama. I owe future generations that much if the choice comes to that.

Kick, I am not trying to offend anyone and I apologize if you take it that way. My point is this: the 70+ members of Congress + governors around the nation who have endorsed Mitt know something about electoral politics. They recognize that Romney at the top of the ticket either helps them, or at worst, does no harm.

The fact that more governors wwill be coming on board may be not to your taste, but I meant no offense.

I make no apologies for supporting Mitt, because as a veteran of many federal, state and local campaigns over 40 years on the eastern seaboard, the South, and the Midwest, I know a winner. I want to see Obama thrown out of the White House, and defeating any incumbent president is expensive, brutal, and unpleasant business.

This is the problem with primaries: we say thing that offend people with whom we agree 90 percent of the time and who will need each other in the fall.

I will happily vote for whomever is the GOP nominee for president. We can't have 4 more of this.

Romney has as good of a chance as Santorum if not better.

Lets start with the fact that both of them, including Paul, have never been accused of unethical behavior. If Gingrich had an ounce of honor in him, he would end his campaign. He already had his chance to prove he can be trusted. It's bad enough that he engaged in unethical behavior, he did it while he was second in liner to the presidency. He doesn't deserve to be in the same contest as Romney, Santorum, and Paul. Hell, he doesn't even deserve to be in a contest with Obama.

Because he ran as a conservative in 2008. This time he's running as a moderate. Time will tell whether this is the correct strategy. He doesn't need all our votes to win the primary thanks to Paul & Santorum. He damn sure will need them in November. So if he wins, what do you suppose he will sound like from the conventuion to the election? A lot more conservative would be my guess.

<blockquote>Romney needs a way to stop Gingrich in Florida, which suddenly looks uncomfortably like Romney’s firewall rather than his coronation venue.
</blockquote>
I'm sorry, but there should be no coronation before August and there should be no talk of it now. How ever will the media get through 5 more months of primaries otherwise?

Thanx, Ed, for starting to talk about how the primaries work and how the voting results affect the delegate allocation because it's really all about the pledged delegate count. Bachmann, Cain, Huntsman and Perry are on the FL ballot so who knows who votes have already been cast for on absentee ballots or who they're being cast for between now and primary day.

I heard a rep from Ron Paul's campaign on FOX today talking about delegates, about how the IA caucus doesn't officially award delegates, but how each campaign can participate in meetings that will determine the allocation. Currently 3 delegates that had been "soft-pledged" to Perry based on caucus results are now available, so who knows who they'll eventually go to.

I wish these stupid useless polls would go away, stop making the headlines, stop trying to stop the presses, and people--voters--should stop from buying into them.

This poll crap reminds me of two people sitting on park benches, opposite each other, tossing bread to pigeons. One tosses a handful (one poll comes out), the flock runs over to that side. The other tosses a handful (another poll comes out with contradicting results), the flock flocks to the other side. So this is what we've been reduced to: a bunch of squabs, running around like chickens with our heads cut off, squabbling over this moment's <strike>polls</strike> crumbs, totally oblivious that a whole new supply of <strike>confounding polls</strike> crumbs are coming tomorrow.

Do many of us think anymore--or do we just react like headless fowl?

<blockquote>A good move: Romney has just announced a major economic address on Monday-Tuesday in FL to pre-butt BO’s State of Union address on Tuesday night. Going on offense at last.

Expecting Jeb Bush endorsement by mid-week. Bushes do NOT like Newt, and Jeb’s FL machine very formidable.

With Perry out of the race, Gov Scott is now free to endorse Mitt as well. Expecting Jindal soon too.

Do you have any idea how much your bragging about how Romney will steamroll his way to victory by the republican machine p*isses conservatives off?? Do you think it makes us want to get on the republican bandwagon and support him because he has the establishment machine working for him? It only makes him look more and more like he's buying this election. Total sleeze.

Oh, and I supported Romney in 2008--although for the life of me I can't see why now.

Jb: you are correct, Romney is NOT McCain. Romney WANTS to be president. McCain just wanted to be NOMINATED for president and ran the shittiest campaign in GOP history. Plus, McCain had no money, no organization, no discipline, no infrastructure, no message. Like Newt today.

Romney, for all his wealth and comforts, is not spending 6 years of his life just to LOSE in November.

Mitt is a winner in November. He genuinely wants to get the nation back on track. We cannot afford 4 more years of this.
