Chuck Norris endorses Newt Gingrich, too

posted at 6:00 pm on January 20, 2012 by Tina Korbe

According to a poll of National Journal insiders, this is the most coveted Republican endorsement of all — and no wonder. Chuck Norris’ endorsement of Mike Huckabee in 2008 helped to propel the former Arkansas governor to the top tier of presidential candidates. That oh-so-memorable “Chuck Norris approved” ad is still a fan favorite.

This election cycle, Norris has decided to throw his weight behind Newt Gingrich. In a newly published column on WND.com, Norris outlined why he’s chosen to support the former Speaker of the House:

[N]ow is not the time to be mincing through minutiae and infighting via typical partisan battles. Rome is burning, and we need to appoint the best firemen possible to rush in and put out her fury. What’s critical at this point is to appoint a commander in chief who can clearly lead America to a more solvent and secure future.

No man or candidate is perfect. We all have skeletons in our closet. If buried bones became unforgivable bones of contention, the world would never know or will never know another Benjamin Franklin, King David and others like them. We must remember that we’re electing a president, not a pastor or pope. And with the mainstream media and a billion-dollar Obama campaign coffer on the president’s side, we need a veteran of political war who has already fought Goliath, because he will be facing Goliath’s bigger brother. …

For my wife, Gena, and I, we sincerely believe former Speaker Newt Gingrich is the answer to most of those questions and deserves our endorsement and vote.

We agree with our friend and governor of the great state of Texas, Rick Perry, when he suspended his campaign and endorsed Gingrich, that Newt “has the heart of a conservative reformer.” We believe Newt’s experience, leadership, knowledge, wisdom, faith and even humility to learn from his failures (personal and public) can return America to her glory days. And he is the best man left on the battlefield who is able to outwit, outplay and outlast Obama and his campaign machine.

Personally, I think Allen West is the new Chuck Norris. (Seriously, substitute “Allen West” for “Chuck Norris” in your favorite Chuck Norris joke and see if it doesn’t make more sense!) Nevertheless, the Norris endorsement might actually matter more than most endorsements if for no other reason than that even voters who don’t pay close attention to who’s endorsing whom definitely know Norris’ name.

For old times’ sake, here’s the ad on behalf of Mike Huckabee:

Update: Because of a typo, this article originally misattributed the Chuck Norris column to “WMD.com” instead of “WND.com.” Kind of a consequential typo, especially given what the acronym “WMD” actually stands for! My apologies.

You know who the dumbest people on TV were? No, I mean even dumber than MSNBC commentators? It was the bad guys on Walker, Texas Ranger. Say there was a gang of six of them. Five happen to be pointing semi-automatic weapons at Norris, and he karate kicks them all into submission before any one of them could fire a shot.

So then the sixth bad guy, who for some reason is 20 feet away somehow engaged in something else, now PICKS UP A PIPE WRENCH AND RUNS UP TO NORRIS WITH THE INTENT OF CLOBBERING HIM WITH IT!!!!! Seriously? What the hell is going on in the sixth bad guy’s head? He just saw Norris take out five guys with semi-autos, and now he thinks he can get the job done with a damn wrench?

If I had written for that program, instead of having Norris then kick the snot out of Mr. Sixth Bad Guy With the Wrench–which is what always happened–I’d have in the script Norris holding up his hands and saying “Whoa, whoa! Friend, think about what you’re doing. I just kicked the poop out of your five buddies with firearms. Do you REALLY think you’re going to make a difference with a plumber’s tool, for God’s sakes?”

The the sixth guy would look at the wrench, shake his head, drop it, and say, “Yeah, you’re right, Ranger. I should never have become a lowlife. My mother wanted me to become a lawyer, but I figured if I became a petty criminal I could be just as unethical and save a bundle in law school tuition.”

That’s how I’d write the scene.

Really? Because he didn’t hide from them during the first five minutes of the last debate when he issued his smackdown to the moderator. The only person who tried to hide behind his podium with all his stutters and nervous giggles was a former corporate raider with blow-dried bouffant hair when he got questioned about the tax returns that he should have already released. This is the same numbskull who foisted a program of policy functionally identical to ObamaCare, i.e. RomneyCare, on the state he was once said to govern so badly that he could only hold on for a single term. Good Guys Wear Whatever Newt Tells Them To.

Christien on January 20, 2012 at 6:29 PM

I look at this election as a battle between four factions of the GOP:

#1 Pantywaist Republicans who stand in fear of offending independents. This group also includes those who have much to gain from the Establishment, or those who like to follow the Establishment because it makes them feel part of the “in” crowd.

#2 The super-conservatives who freak out over non-issues like Gardisil.

#3 The fighting pragmatic conservatives. These conservatives are willing to accept reality- the candidates all have flaws, serious ones. We accept that and therefore choose the person most able (in our perception) to take conservatism to the people. We recognize that electability isn’t enough of a reason to vote for someone, and it’s a reason that can backfire spectacularly. We also recognize that electability is seen in the eye of the beholder, but that it can actually grow in a candidate who has the ability and willingness to advance conservatism to the public.

#4 RP followers, enough said.

Chuck Norris, imho, fits into the #3 category. I’m happy to join Norris and endorse Newt Gingrich for President. Newt has shown the willingness and ability, both in his rhetoric and his record, to take conservatism to the people. He isn’t perfect, sometimes he goes off the reservation. His morality today isn’t perfectly clear, but I’m willing to give him the benefit of the doubt that he has found god and a certain amount of redemption. His love for his children and grandchildren and his marriage with Callista seem sincere. That’s good enough for me, considering many of our best presidents have had less than stellar personal lives.

Newt 2012!

Newtsters need to wake up and face reality about the Great Debater. Last thing we need is another Great Debater.

We need executive experience. No Congress Critter or Senator Slug has done the position of POTUS well. The biggest problem with Obama, beyond his Marxist views, is his lack of governing or executive experience. When will people understand that a legislator does nothing but create government slaves?

The myth of Newt’s balancing the budget is the biggest myth of all.

You lie. It is not money in bank accounts. It is part of his investment portfolio and there are some investments in the Caymans. These investments are not for profit retirement funds and teachers retirement funds. Get it?

Please, learn the facts. If you have facts to state, I’m all ready for them.

That being said, I can’t imagine someone voting for a great Press Secretary for President (Newt).

uhangtight on January 20, 2012 at 6:37 PM

You forgot to add that Mitten also does not hide his money the old fashioned way, buried in a can in the backyard, or under a mattress, but in off shore bank accounts. Isn’t that how criminals launder their money, not POTUS material?

they lie on January 20, 2012 at 6:34 PM

it’s nothing illegal in putting your money in off-shore accounts…welcome to the global economy of the 21st century, grandpa…a few things changed since the great depression :-)…

Newt supporters are hypocrites.

They bashed Obama for simply having debating skills…yet they want to nominate Newt because they jizz at his debating skills (which so far has only worked in a friendly audience, I doubt it will play so well in a mixed audience)

They bashed Clinton for not having family values and being immoral. But with Newt, its just history and we should not care about his cheatings (multiple, not just once).

Clinton committed a little thing called “perjury”

Raquel Pinkbullet on January 20, 2012 at 6:38 PM

Galadriel, you’re wrong.

Newt has no chance against Obama.

Women will not vote for a 2 time cheater over a family values man like Obama.

Nominating Newt is like handing the victory to Obama on a silver platter.

nonpartisan on January 20, 2012 at 6:31 PM

You mean like all those women who voted for Clinton to reelect him in 1996? Those women…

You’re a liberal. It’s fine, but don’t expect the rest of us to be influenced by your blather.

Hehe. Chuck Norris and Palin are for Newt. Newt will win SC and so it is written.

So now shameless bigotry is just a funny one-liner to you?

Oromney is already spinning his loss in SC. “Oh, we never expected to do well in SC.” Seems like yesterday in NH he was crowing about how this thing was over. About this time tomorrow, I hope it’s over for Oromneycare.

And Newty, like Clinton, committed a little thing called “adultery.”

Chuck Norris doesn’t wear a watch. He decides what time it is.
