Video: Gingrich vs. Juan Williams on the “food-stamp president”
posted at 11:05 pm on January 16, 2012 by Allahpundit
Via BuzzFeed. Between this, the exchange with Ron Paul on Bin Laden, and the zinger about 99 weeks being an associate degree, I’m thinking he might have turned South Carolina from a solid Romney lead into a nailbiter. Has any candidate at any debate had the crowd more riled up than this?
Here’s the bit with Williams plus, via Breitbart TV, the OBL question. I hope Juan is reporting this as an in-kind contribution to Gingrich 2012. Exit quotation from Tom Bevan of RCP: “Newt really is the Honey Badger.”

First! Also an incredible reminder as to why Newt was the frontrunner at some point.

Yet Romney has no past. Or at least we’re all told to forget Romney’s past.
Newt achieved more for fiscal Conservatism between 1994-1998, than Mitt has in the last 30 years combined.
portlandon on January 16, 2012 at 11:28 PM
Every debate Newt has a moment where he says something we all wish we could say in a way we all wish we could say it. He did that tonight times two.
But my problem with him is not his debating skills. It’s that he can’t behave himself for two weeks in a row. He won’t make it past the nominating process without self destructing; and no way he could make it 4 years.

I don’t like the Newt attacks on Romneybain either. But I accept them as a fact of political life, and yes, it was a sign of desperation on Newt’s part. I guess in my mind it’s a forgivable sin because I don’t even think Newt believes that line of attack. What’s less forgivable is the idea that it feeds the DNC ammo for the general – UNLESS ROMNEY’S NOT THE NOMINEE (get it?)
I just want someone who will unashamedly and EFFECTIVELY articulate the conservative position on the issues and I think when Newt is on (and he isn’t always), no one does it better than he does.
I also desperately want a not-Romney/not-Paul to win SC and the nomination just to humiliate all the MSM and Jen Rubin types who are telling us this is all over.

At the Republican presidential debate in South Carolina the candidates were asked what would be the highest federal tax rate they would like people to pay.

Newt is a warrior, and I’d rather go down fighting with him against the Progs than down with Mitt surrendering.
Mitt = the surrender of the British at Singapore
Newt = the scrappy leathernecks and civilians on Wake Island
That is why Newt should represent us in the general.

Gingrich Defends Attacks Against Romney
Jan 16 2012
***********
At tonight’s South Carolina GOP Debate, Bret Baier questioned Newt Gingrich about his attacks on Mitt Romney saying that in September Gingrich had vowed to “repudiate every effort of the news media to get Republicans to fight each other to protect Barack Obama, who deserves to be defeated.” Yet in recent days, Gingrich has gone on the attack against the GOP frontrunner.
Gingrich defended the criticism, saying, “First of all, I think that the staying positive through Iowa, through $3.5 million of negative attacks proved you either have to unilaterally disarm and leave the race or you have to at least bring up your competitor’s record.”

Santorum, Romney Debate Felons And Ability To Vote
Jan 16 2012

Santorum pressed Romney to state whether he believes that felons, who have served their time, should be given the right to vote. Santorum stressed, “This is a huge deal in the African-American community because we have very high rates of incarceration, disproportionally high rates, particularly with drug crimes in the African-American community.”
Romney answered, “I don’t think people who have committed violent crimes should be allowed to vote again.”

Rick Perry: “This Administration Is Out Of Control”
Jan 16 2012
***********
Rick Perry:
“Look, Ive said this administration is at war against organized religion. And when you look at what they have done, going after churches because churches had that ministerial exception in that and can decide who they were going to hire at their churches, the idea that the Catholic charities cannot take money or the federal government, this administration won’t give them those dollars for sexually trafficked individuals because this administration doesn’t agree with the Catholic Church on the issue of abortion. If that’s not a war on religion, i don’t know what it is. And this administration is out of control.”
