Obamateurism of the Day
posted at 8:05 am on January 11, 2012 by Ed Morrissey
Good news – Barack Obama is at least consistent. One of the OOTY candidates from last year was Obama’s contention that opposition to his policies had a “subterranean agenda” based on race. Thankfully, after careful consideration, Obama has decided … to continue to allege that opposition to his policies is based on race:
Everything we fought for during the last election is at stake in this election. The very core of what this country stands for is on the line — the basic promise that no matter what you look like, no matter where you come from, this is a place where you could make it if you try. The notion that we’re all in this together, that we look out for one another — that’s at stake in this election. Don’t take my word for it. Watch some of these debates that have been going on up in New Hampshire.
Yeah, I’m sure that must be it — because anyone else who tripled the deficit while keeping the jobless rate above 8% and economic growth mired in the 2% range while taking the civilian participation rate in the work force to its lowest level in 30 years would be so beloved by now.

Got an Obamateurism of the Day? If you see a foul-up by Barack Obama, e-mail it to me at obamaisms@edmorrissey.com with the quote and the link to the Obamateurism. I’ll post the best Obamateurisms on a daily basis, depending on how many I receive. Include a link to your blog, and I’ll give some link love as well. And unlike Slate, I promise to end the feature when Barack Obama leaves office.

Using Obama and the word beloved in the same sentence made me throw up in my mouth.

If you are against tripling the deficit and unacceptably high unemployment then you must be a racist! Un-freakin-believable.
Actually it is all too believable. That Obama gets away with it is just a sad indictment of our political system.

That entire Obama quote is a bunch of gobblydygook thinking. One sentence is capitalism (“you can make it if you try”—hey, isn’t that a song?). The next is racist, followed by Socialism (“The notion that we’re all in this together, that we look out for one another”), rounded out by ‘I lie’ (“don’t take my word for it”) and “Look at meeee, I’m SO Awesome” (“Watch some of these debates that have been going on up in New Hampshire.”)
The stealth racist dig is a dog whistle to his base, and the Democrats will reinvent ways to use the race card this year.

As long as people are rewarded by media, the electorate, the political establishment, political analysts or whoever might help the case that gain can be made from using this “racial animus” sentiment, they will continue to use it. This victim view of American life has benefited a few race hustlers who have big, loud mouths and no compunctions attendant to blaming someone else for their own shortcomings.
.
Stop rewarding the behavior and less of it will occur; make sure that people know that when they use race for gain as well as race for hate, they are being punished for that one behavior alone. “Calling someone out” for their race baiting is just as valid as for their race hatred.
ExpressoBold on January 11, 2012 at 8:43 AM
This must be the breakfast conversation between the Obamas’. Michelle: it’s not your socialist democratic policies, it must be your skin color. If you were white like say Jimmy Carter, they wouldn’t be treating you like this…….oh wait ;)
I feel sorry for these people, they go through their whole life using the melanin count in people’s skin as their tape measure. That’s what a Harvard education get’s you in this country? It doesn’t broaden your world view – it distills your view of the world to a race baiting cliche? How do you hold onto that kind of B.S. meme, while you are living in the White House, and occupying the highest office in the land?
Dr Evil on January 11, 2012 at 8:43 AM

If brock had any integrity, he would have spent the last 3 years empowering those who are on the dole to get off the dole, to strive, to work, and to instill the fact that in America you CAN be anything you wish…. just like ‘him’.
But nay. He squandered his first three years playing race cards. I hope it was worth it to him…. pitting our fellow citizens against eachother and all that jive.

Somewhere on a wall in his den, Rahm Emanuel (Paulie Walnuts) has a picture of zer0 (Tony Soprano) at the country club, holding the reins around Gibbsy’s (his horse’s) neck and toasting the viewer with a glass a champagne.
zer0 had told Rahm to destroy the painting because Gibbsy had gone up in flames and was a bad memory. zer0 ain’t gonna like it when he visits Rahm, notices the painting and realizes that he’d ignored a Decree of zer0′s.

truer words have never been spoken. 4 more years of President Pull-Ups and we will never recognize the USA again.
As far as “we’re all in it together” – well I guess that’s true, it’s just that some of us get to take separate flights, have lavish parties, take golfing outings and luxurious vacations … and the rest of us get to pay for it.

He must mean the successful entrepreneurs.
Herman Cain comes to mind, as the does the founder of BET.
Way ta go, Slappy, you’ve once again denigrated the successful among your ranks (actually, both of the aforementioned are really Black).
Let’s ramp up the race card again and, oh wait, who has the most money to contribute to Ø’Bumbler so that he can buy another election? It wouldn’t be White people, would it?
What would happen if all Anglos stopped donating to the “messiah”?

Mrs Obama: Tired of ‘angry black woman’ stereotype
Asked specifically about an assertion of dissension between herself and Emanuel, now the mayor of Chicago, the first lady said she has “never had a cross word” with him. The same, she said, applies to Gibbs, whom she described as “a good friend, and remains so.”
Of course, she doesn’t talk to her husband staff .. she talks to her husband.
Mrs. Obama said that when questions or conflicts arise involving her and the White House staff, her East Wing staff resolves the issue with her husband’s staff in the West Wing.
“If there’s communication that needs to happen, it’s between staffs,” she said. “I don’t have conversations with my husband’s staff.”
Of course, she doesn’t talk to her husband staff .. she talks to her husband.
Fracking lawyers.

We’re approaching the fourth anniversary of that infamous “race speech”:
I saw it then for what it really was… it wasn’t a speech about improving race relations in America… it was a speech about amplifying and exploiting racism in order to form a more Socialist union.
There were more racists who voted FOR Obama because of his skin color than there were racists who voted AGAINST Obama because of his skin color.
ITguy on January 11, 2012 at 1:19 PM
Oh, and of course, funneling our hard-earned to failing “green” companies that promptly go bankrupt, shipping arms to drug cartels in Mexico, making “recess” appointments of controversial candidates when the Senate isn’t in recess, enforcing civil rights laws only when it’s black against white, and all the other nonstop power grabs, are just minor nuisances we should ignore because, after all, Barack is The One Who Won.
RebeccaH on January 11, 2012 at 1:24 PM
Whether we’re “all in this together” is debatable, but America is not, at its core, about looking to the Feds to solve all of the problems.

What I don’t understand is why O is playing the race card. In 2009 he and his advisors correctly understood that would not get people to vote for him. So, why now? His base will vote for him already, and conservatives and R’s won’t.
What makes him think the race card will pull indies his way? It’s a huge risk, will turn off a lot of people and undermines his fiction of bringing people together. He’s doing lousy among whites as it is, so why make things worse? Why are his advisors letting him (or telling him) to do this? Makes no sense on a practical level.
