Obama camp pretty darned fake-angry at Romney’s son for mentioning birth certificate

posted at 9:05 pm on December 30, 2011 by Allahpundit

If you’re fake-angry too, won’t you please donate today?

At an event in New Hampshire today, Romney’s adult son Matt Romney responded to a question regarding the potential release of his father’s tax returns with a joke alluding to doubts about Mr. Obama’s place of birth: “I heard someone suggest the other day that as soon as Obama releases his grades and birth certificate and sort of a long list of things, then maybe he’d do it,” he said…

In an email to supporters today about the joke, Obama for America campaign manager Jim Messina wrote, “This is how the Romney campaign thinks it’s going to win the Republican primary: by pandering to the dead-ender fringe of extremists who still question where the president was born.”

While asking for a donation, Messina said, “we can drive up the cost of this kind of politics… when they do this, you’ve got to do something about it.”

The email was sent under the subject line, “Donald Trump or Mitt Romney?” in reference to Trump’s persistent questions about Mr. Obama’s origins, which ultimately prompted the president to release his long-form birth certificate from Hawaii.

Romney’s son, reverting to strict-message-discipline mode, has already apologized on Twitter. Six months of this awaits next year, guys. Six months of Team O arguing that Romney’s simultaneously (a) an unpredictable opportunist with no principled core and (b) a wild-eyed ideologue ready to push the same radical right-wing agenda on America that he pushed on Massachusetts when he … signed a health-care mandate into law. If you thought the daily ins-and-outs of the Obama/McCain race were dreary, wait until we start covering Obama/Romney. Second look at turning HA into a gossip site?

I’m not familiar with this pollster but they’ve got Romney opening up a seven-point lead in Iowa over Santorum and a 10-point lead over Paul. Nate Silver’s statistical model now gives him a 63 percent chance of winning the state; Paul comes second at 20 percent. Shhhhhhh. It’ll all be over soon.

It’s not like Team Romney will allow it to happen again. It will be long forgotten by the time the election gets heated.

Meh, it was a nice shot across the bow. Notice that Obama’s minions jumped on the birth certificate but conveniently neglected the transcripts element of the statement.

Your story then continues and emphasizes my concern with Romney:

Romney’s son, reverting to strict-message-discipline mode, has already apologized on Twitter.

Yep, because we can’t let any digs go by without apologizing for them. By the end of the campaign, I fear Romney’s campaign will be one big apology to Obama. Expected upcoming apologies:

“We’re sorry we have accused you of overspending”

“We’re sorry we have accused you of ignoring congress”

“We’re sorry we accused you of being a socialist”

Has the Obama camp ever, ever apologized for anything?

For example, has he ever apologized for saying the police acted stupidly?

No, they double down.

Republicans though, especially establishment ones, fall all over themselves to apologize for some imagined slight.

I remarked to my in-laws over Christmas that when Obama starts demanding Romney turn over his tax returns he should respond by saying he’d do that as soon as O’s college transcripts were released. All of that is legit. The birth certificate? Bad, bad joke. But the fact remains that O is vulnerable on all the other unsolved mysteries of his life – too many to recount in a comment at a blog. One media fantasy I hold dear is that someone, someday will ask him to talk about his critically acclaimed poem “Pop” and the amber stained shorts.

Like the establishment Republicans, Romney and the Obama team assumed that Romney would be the shoo-in candidate. The opposition research against Romney by the Obama camp must be miles high. Junior Romney just gave the O-team a cheap shot at begging for more $3 and $5 donations, right, Messina? (Is the security code operant yet? Is the FEC keeping an eye on you?)

Axelrod must be scrambling to build his opposition case files on the other Republican candidates. I want this primary season to last for a while, so that the Dems blow a lot of money, trying to protect their vulnerable incumbent and try to attack our thorougly vetted candidate.

The State of Hawaii sent this certificate and this certificate under seal directly to Congress.

If Obama really wanted to put the Birth Certificate issue to rest, he would authorize the State of Hawaii to send his Birth Certificate under seal directly to Congress.

What Obama “released” was a multi-layered PDF that many people think is a forgery. He has never “released” the hard copy document to anyone, even though Members of Congress have a Constitutional obligation, under section 3 of the 20th Amendment, to ensure that the President and Vice President have qualified.

And the State of Hawaii did not say, “Obama was born in Hawaii” until after the U.S. House of Representatives said so first.

Look it up. It wasn’t until a few hours after the U.S. House voted in favor of H. RES. 593 (which included the words, “Obama, was born in Hawaii”) that Dr. Fukino (seemly out of the blue) released her second News Release.

Could Fukino have used H. RES. 593 as “prima facie” evidence to issue her second News Release and finally make the claim “Obama was born in Hawaii”?

I think the answer is yes, based on

Federal Rules of Evidence
Rule 902. Self-authentication

(10) Presumptions under Acts of Congress. Any signature, document, or other matter declared by Act of Congress to be presumptively or prima facie genuine or authentic.

H.Res. 593 was authored by Neil Abercrombie while he was a Representative. Was he rewarded with the Governorship of Hawaii?

The whole thing is more than just a little fishy.

Again, if Obama really wanted to put the Birth Certificate issue to rest, he would authorize the State of Hawaii to send his Birth Certificate under seal directly to Congress, just as was done with the other two certificates that were relevant to his election.

In the distant past some people cowered in fear of being called fools unfit for their positions, unworthy or in some other manner morally impaired if they could not see the Emperor’s fine new invisible clothes. In the recent past some people cowered in fear of being called deniers unfit for their positions, unworthy or in some other manner morally impaired if they could not feel the invisible global warming. Some people now cower in fear of being called birthers unfit for their positions, unworthy or in some other manner morally impaired if they can not see the Holiness and Flawlessness in Dear Leader’s Magical Appearing Birth Certificate. History seldom repeats, but it very often closely rhymes and shows yet again that some people never learn, and there will always be many men who are more as Mice and Sheep than as Lions and Foxes. Sometimes it seems a shame that Noah didn’t miss the boat.

The “Obama birth narrative” is either true or it’s not.

And if it’s true, then he was born a British subject because his father was a British subject. Obama’s own campaign web site admitted that in 2008.

The problem is that many people think that “native born” (born on U.S. soil) automatically makes someone a “natural born citizen” of the United States of America. But that is inaccurate.

See:

THE PUBLIUS ENIGMA:
Newly Revealed Evidence Establishes That President James Madison’s Administration Required Citizen Parentage To Qualify Native-Born Persons For U.S. Citizenship.

And

Multiple Instances Of Historical Scholarship Conclusively Establish The Supreme Court’s Holding In Minor v. Happersett As Standing Precedent On Citizenship – Obama Not Eligible.

And if it’s NOT true, then there still exists the possibility that he was born on U.S. soil to two U.S. citizen parents. And in that possibility, he would have been born a natural born citizen of the United States. As long as he never held a passport from a foreign country, then he would still be a a natural born citizen of the United States and be eligible to hold the office of President.

But he would also have committed forgery, perjury, obstruction of justice, etc., and even if re-elected, he could be impeached for those high crimes and misdemeanors.

Wasn’t he known as Barry Sotero or some?

El_Terrible on December 30, 2011 at 9:43 PM

At this point I am starting to believe that the Birthers are nistas and Paulnuts hellbent on sabotaging Romney. You are the precise reason Romney had to apologize.

Capitalist Hog on December 30, 2011 at 9:37 PM

Are those the type of manners that they teach at Romney HQ because that’s some pretty harsh language.

Midwestprincesse on December 30, 2011 at 9:44 PM

I want more coverage of lady celebrities in bikinis. More cat videos too. I know you’re a cat guy, post some vids as palette cleansers/open threads.

El_Terrible on December 30, 2011 at 9:17 PM

And unicorns. Bring in Gutfeld for the occasional Guest appearance.

Midwestprincesse on December 30, 2011 at 9:22 PM

I’m good with just the lady celebrities in bikinis. You can keep your unicorns and Gutfeld.

Don’t even need to be celebrities if they are cute.

If Little Mitt really wants to start trouble, he should call the golfer Barack Hussein Obama…..and then quickly apologize….of course.

Did my words sound remotely serious? I’m drinking Fat Tire about to get a footrub. Things are swell.

It’s kinda like one of those “mama” jokes. I don’t really mean _____’s mom wears size 13 Vans.

I was (trying to) speak to the larger group. I don’t do funny well this late in the day. But that won’t stop me from trying all night tonight.

HAPPY NEW YEAR everybody. I’m starting early.

I got more respect for mittens kid then I do for him! Git um young man!

angrymike on December 30, 2011 at 9:34 PM

I did too until the apology. I suppose his dad made him do that though.

It’s a good thing Mitt’s cowardly kid didn’t say anything about people who have brothers who live in cardboard boxes …

You were thoroughly ‘had’, by one of the very best.

Observe for a while. It’ll sharpen yer moves.

Since Romney is going to have to release his tax records, if he’s smart, he’ll do this:

On a Monday morning, release the tax records, AND all of his college transcripts, copies of his senior thesis, canceled checks showing how his college was paid, and his passport records for the past 25 years, and then demand that Obama release all of the same records. The story for the rest of that week will be that Romney has challenged Obama to be as “transparent” as he has been. And every time a reporter tries to have a conversation about his tax records, move it back to “Where are Obama’s records? I’ve shown mine, where are his? Why are you here talking to me when you have all of my records? Why aren’t you talking to him? I’m a candidate — he’s the president, for God’s sake. Where are your questions for him?”

What?!?

There is no reason to apologize for telling the truth.

I am not a “birther”, a “nista”, nor a “Paulnut”.

I am a conservative who seeks the truth, does my best to speak the truth, and supports and defends the Constitution of the United States of America… unlike the members of Congress who shirked their responsibility under section 3 of the 20th Amendment.
