Poll: Obamateurism of the Year, Flight 9 — plus the Second Chance poll!

posted at 8:05 am on December 28, 2011 by Ed Morrissey

Ready to select the next semifinalist for the Obamateurism of the Year? This is the last flight of OOTWs for this year, and as a bonus we have another poll to select one of the photo-finish 2nd place OOTDs from this year as a semifinalist, too.  Yesterday you made a good choice in Obama’s claim of making “all the right choices” on economic policy, but we have another tough set of choices this morning, too.  Be sure to cast your vote now, because both polls will get closed when the first semifinal poll gets posted!

Be prepared for a stroll down memory lane! Click on the links below to review the OOTDs in today’s poll.  Here’s the last set of OOTW contestants, and this is a doozy:

Next, we have the Second Chance poll — which comprises the OOTDs that finished a very close second in OOTW polling this year, trailing by less than 3%.  One of these wild cards might get some reconsideration as a solid OOTY candidate, so choose carefully:

Tomorrow morning — the first semifinal!

Got an Obamateurism of the Day? If you see a foul-up by Barack Obama, e-mail it to me at obamaisms@edmorrissey.com with the quote and the link to the Obamateurism. I’ll post the best Obamateurisms on a daily basis, depending on how many I receive. Include a link to your blog, and I’ll give some link love as well. And unlike Slate, I promise to end the feature when Barack Obama leaves office.

I voted for scare tactics but the Michael Vick thing was about rehabbing his retirement fund. Actual rehab would have involved that horrible man working under strict supervision at an animal shelter for the rest of his life.

I have been a strong supporter of most of his policies, not all. We will never find a candidate who embodies each of our ideals. Reverse the roles, would each candidate support everything WE think? Perry had some missteps, no question; but I have always maintained that I want someone with a solid background for my candidate–he is the closest to that, he has core beliefs that I find lacking in other candidates. While I admit I did go a bit wobbly on Virginia, I haven’t given up hope. I still don’t understand why debating is the be-all end-all to beat BO, if ANY of the candidates just keep hammering him on his record…..and if Ed would just publish that book….! We will be golden in 2012. Keep up that second look, KWR! : )

Voted #6, foreign policy accomplishments.
I’m no historian, but wasn’t Lincoln pretty much pre-occupied by the civil war? Not sure foreign policy was number one on his list.

Either way, none of the three former presidents dealt with Al-Queda and terrorism as we know it today.
Totally different policy matters, with totally different allies.

Takes long foreign tour while supercommittee fails, blames lack of leadership for result.

Because that’s what’s been starkly missing in this country “Leadership”. That’s why I didn’t pick the last choice – Obama’s comparing his foreign policy accomplishment to the LEADERSHIP of Lincoln, FDR and Johnson. Like that overseas contingency operation, or that kinetic military action/

Speaking of Turtles, how Precious is this Photo-Op?

President Barack Obama and his family, on vacation in Hawaii, Tuesday released four young green sea turtles into the Pacific Ocean, the White House said.

On a sunny, breezy afternoon, the first family took a 40-minute motorcade ride from their vacation home in Kailua to Hanauma Bay, where they set free the 18-month-old turtles, a White House official said. Reporters were unable to catch a glimpse of the family.

The popular snorkeling spot was closed to the public for the day for maintenance and beautification

-snip-

The president and daughters Sasha and Malia then ventured down the road to Sea Life Park, the only place in the United States that raises green sea turtles in captivity, while first lady Michelle Obama was otherwise occupied.

search4truth on December 28, 2011 at 10:12 AM

RebeccaH on December 28, 2011 at 10:43 AM

When one truly reflects on the SMARTEST president in the history of the world, one comes to the conclusion that a 95 IQ is now the new 200 IQ.

The OOTD demonstrate the mediocrity of 0bama’s intelligence and why we will never see the college transcripts.

jukin3 on December 28, 2011 at 10:49 AM

HilliardPatriot on December 28, 2011 at 10:51 AM

All of the above is the easiest choice, but to vote you have to decide. I chose the lack of leadership while traveling the world and his horror of self reliance.

I just can’t get that one off my mind. All the others are his foolishness, ineptness and love of socialism, but that horror of self reliance, that is the cancer killing this great country. Obama is just a symptom of what will eventually destroy us.

America needs to proclaim self reliance and “trust thyself. every heart beats to that iron string.”

Sorry, I didn’t mean to get so preachy this morning. This just makes me wish I was still teaching Emerson and other early writings of American literature.

jazzuscounty on December 28, 2011 at 11:01 AM

Went with the “we’ve gotten a bit lazy” because it epitomizes the arrogance of his attitude, lack of understanding of the drag his style of regulations and governance put upon our economy, and the hypocrisy of this president when you look at the number of rounds of golf he’s played.

AZfederalist on December 28, 2011 at 11:10 AM

jukin3 on December 28, 2011 at 10:49 AM

True. But IMHO, the most scary thing about Obama is his apparent lack of judgement. You either have to accept that he is either an enemy of the US, or that he lacks sufficient judgement to evaluate the consequences of his own actions. Or could this indicate some kind of brain damage?

I’ll bet that many of O’s college essays (now ‘lost,’ hidden, or destroyed) had a red pencil note “Cut the B.S. and answer the question!”

I was 7 for 7 guessing the most popular choice (and picking that one in the poll) but 8 stumped me. I picked the “Hawaii/Asia”, since I always considered this a “stupid is as stupid does” type of thing, where they made fun of Bush for stupid slips of the tongue more than asinine policy. I got Flight 9 pegged, however, and I’m back on track ;)

That #9 winner of “best prez but 4″ will win for OOTY, my guess. It encapsulates everything about Obama that the leftist media and entertainment (including comedians) won’t touch: hubris, narcissism, megalomania, refusal to admit mistakes, miscalculating effect of his actions, hard left socialist worldview cocoon.

All of these are good choices, but I see everyone else agreed with me on this set.
