Obligatory: Obama plays 90th round of golf in Hawaii

posted at 6:00 pm on December 27, 2011 by Tina Korbe

This would be a blasé bit of news if 90 weren’t such a nice, round number, but, as it is, this represents a record of sorts. Not only did Barack Obama golf on Christmas day, but he hit the links yesterday, too — and that round marked the 90th of his presidency. As Keith Koffler of WhiteHouseDossier.com points out, the time he’s spent on a golf course — about four to five hours a round — is the equivalent of three full months.

It’s not just that his perpetual self-indulgence signifies that “kind of laziness” the president himself admits plagues him deep down. It’s also that this particular indulgence required an exceptional sacrifice from the military men and women who had to accommodate his desire to golf at the Marine Corps base. Melissa Clouthier breaks it down, including a few particularly devastating comments from wives of Marines:

Well, the big deal is that a bunch of Marines had to work–blocking roads and doing other miscellaneous security detail–instead of being home with their families.

Here are some of the comments from the wives of these men. (I am not going to include the link to this page, nor am I going to include names, because I don’t want anyone in trouble. I do, however, have the screen shot and have copy and pasted the comments verbatim.) …

“Because he’s here, I didn’t get to see my husband all weekend, on our baby girl’s first Christmas, so he can have his vacation. So when I can’t get to my house because he wants to play golf it just adds insult to injury and yeah, gets on my nerves. I agree that it’s a sensitive subject for some of us who are more [a]ffected by his being here.” …

I was so angry! They blocked off my driveway… -_-”

“It takes him forever to play too because he isn’t good at it either lol!”

She dubs him “President Selfish,” and I think that moniker is more than appropriate.

Where does he get all this time?

What in the Hell are you blathering about????

You come on with some high and mighty ‘dissenting voices’ BS and plop out ‘He’s too refined for that’ and you ‘would be honored’ to be his mother-in-law???

Really???

BigWyo on December 27, 2011 at 7:49 PM

He was inaugurated 1071 days ago.

That’s a round of golf every 11.9 days. (We’ll call it an even 12)

And then think about his many basketball games and it’s surprising people still support this clown.

This man is truly loathsome. While our economy is in the toilet, millions without jobs, he’s living it up playing golf, vacationing and living like a king. (And often handing down edicts as if he were a king in reality)

Despicable.

ButterflyDragon on December 27, 2011 at 6:25 PM

Well, this pretty much covers golf .

Now, does anybody know how many basketball games Obama attended after he usurped the Presidency?

Obama is a sandbagger
(euphemism for “liar, cheater”) a golfer who lies about their ability in order to gain an advantage in a match or wager, or posts (submits/enters/turns-in) artificially high scores in order to inflate their handicap
Example: Sandbagging demonstrates a lack of integrity

Golf quotes:

The sport of choice for the urban poor is basketball.  The sport of choice for maintenance level employees is bowling.  The sport of choice for front-line workers is football.  The sport of choice for supervisors is baseball.  The sport of choice for middle management is tennis.  The sport of choice for corporate officers is golf.  Conclusion: The higher you are in the corporate structure, the smaller your balls become.  ~Author Unknown

Golf appeals to the idiot in us and the child.  Just how childlike golf players become is proven by their frequent inability to count past five.  ~John Updike

Sooner or later she will say something “petty” about the GOP nominee and an enterprising commenter will remind her of this thread…and then the wheels fly off.

Well, if you’d freakin’ express an opinion backed up by rational facts, even if we didn’t agree with them, you’d have no problem here. However, all you’ve got is a bunch of worn-out Journo-list talking points and no capability to provide any rationale to defend those points. Hint: Argument by vigorous assertion does not constitute intelligent debate.

So, you are a statist, fine. Tell us why you think that big and bigger government asserting increasing control upon the personal and business lives of its citizens is a good thing that will get people off of unemployment and the economy moving again. Tell us why you think that an increasingly powerful federal government able to dictate down to the kinds of foods its citizens should or should not be eating is going to be able to rule for the good and not devolve from a velvet glove of security to the iron fist of tyranny. Your wishes and hopes won’t make it so. The fact that we have a constitution that you support the government trampling by distorting the commerce clause and promotion of general welfare in the preamble will not help you, because if that government is able to re-interpret those clauses to do the things you want, it is equally capable of going beyond that into total control of every aspect of everyone’s lives.

Offer a dissenting opinion instead of the “You guys are going to lose in 2012 and I’m going to gloat!” posts. That’s hardly dissenting opinion, that’s simply a KOS-kiddy who snuck through the gate.

AZfederalist on December 27, 2011 at 8:08 PM

Shouldn’t the tea party focus their energy on the golfer/drinker/smoker/loser who’s closer to home….John Boehner???!!

That loser got us to elect him speaker and DELIVERED NOTHING!!!

The debt limit deal gave Obama 2Tril of debt for 2 Tr of “cuts” WHICH THE SUPER COMMITTEE DID NOT GET!!!

I felt like Boehner is laughing behind close doors with McConnell saying “Those dumb ass peasants! Ha! They got fooled again!!”

BECAUSE the way it’s looking….Obama might just win the WH….WHAT IS THE STRATEGY TO REPLACE BOEHNER IF WE KEEP THE HOUSE???

Bishop on December 27, 2011 at 8:09 PM

Bedbug. From wiki, i beleive this explains it In all it’s grotesqueness:

Bed bugs are parasitic insects that prefer to feed on human blood.[2] The term is used loosely to refer to any species of the genus Cimex, and even more loosely to refer to any member of the family Cimicidae (cimicids).[3] The common bedbug, Cimex lectularius, is the most famous species of the family.[3][4] The name of the “bed bug” is derived from the insect’s preferred habitat of houses and especially beds or other areas where people sleep. Bed bugs are mainly active at night but are not exclusively nocturnal and are capable of feeding on their host without being noticed.
A number of adverse health effects may occur due to bed bug bites, including skin rashes,
psychological effects, and allergic symptoms. Diagnosis involves both finding bed bugs and the occurrence of compatible symptoms.

bed bugs mate by traumatic insemination.[3][23] Female bed bugs possess a reproductive tract that functions during oviposition, but the male doesn’t use this tract for sperm insemination.[3] Instead, the male pierces the female’s abdomen with his hypodermic genitalia and ejaculates into the body cavity. In all bed bug species except Primicimex cavernis, sperm are injected into the mesospermalege,[3] a component of the spermalege,[3] a secondary genital structure that reduces the wounding and immunological costs of traumatic insemination.[24][25][26] Injected sperm travel via the haemolymph (blood) to sperm storage structures called seminal conceptacles, with fertilisation eventually taking place at the ovaries.[25]

Just gross.

Bedbug raises that intriguing question:Is there such a thing as an Obamabot that is capable of rational thought? Thus far, I have yet to interact with one. Bedbug certainly demonstrates no such capabilities.

It was frustrating that Bush spent a lot of time away from the White House, particularly the 3 weeks in August prior to 9/11, with no AlQaeda briefings, but I don’t think we can equate Bush visiting his home with Obama staying at major vacation resorts, with the attendant housing expense of dozens of Secret Service.

It is very thoughtless of Obama to keep so many from their families during the holidays, but if it’s not about him, it’s not on his radar.

And there’s your difference. When the Bushes or Reagan went on “vacation,” they were going home. Crawford, Reagan’s ranch, Kennebunkport. How many times have the Obamas gone on “vacation” to their Hyde Park mansion in Chicago? Do they ever visit the place any more? Seems like every time they “vacation,” they have to go to some posh resort.

Winebabe on December 27, 2011 at 11:03 PM

This is a very important thing to highlight, and I hope you’ll consider making it a recurring thread so we can keep track of this absolutely-shouldn’t-be-president’s play and vacation time.

Perhaps a counter could be maintained of his total vacation days and rounds of golf, along with the total number of hours consumed–a bit like those national debt counters. I mean, three months of total time is just remarkable. I wonder if 60 Minutes will do a segment on this weird would-rather-be-retired, checked-out mentality. It’s an embarrassment to the country. Imagine this 1930s bulletin: “Soup kitchens see ever-increasing lines. In other news, FDR went golfing for the 31st time this year….”

Tallying his play time, travel time, party time, and its expenditures, and his wife’s separately, would be one of the simplest ways to demonstrate he doesn’t even take the position he’s found himself in seriously. Does he ever even use Camp David or other government facilities? It’s a definite campaign issue if anyone would use it; it’s so simple for the average citizen to grasp. And it would make a great video.

That a President would, on Christmas weekend, force Marines (or anyone else for that matter) to work special duty just to play golf shows a degree of obliviousness, and selfishness, which is beyond comprehension.

Fact of the matter is, the only thing dumber that what Obama did is people feeding the trolls in comment threads. C’mon folks. Trolls exist for one reason, to irritate and anger other people. It makes them feel like they have power in their sad, pitiable and pathetic lives if they can ellicit an emotional response from someone. So, stop feeding them.

Let me put it this way; there are 2 main reasons people say offensive things.
1) They don’t know better. In that case, a gentle explanation of why they’re wrong often works.
2) They’re actively trying to make you mad. Well, if someone is trying to make you mad, then they see you as an enemy, right? Now why on earth would you do what your enemy wants?!? Defeat your enemy; don’t do what he wants you to do.

Is it me, or has the level of discourse on the comment threads taken a turn for the worse since the last open registration ?

teacherman on December 27, 2011 at 9:36 PM

No, it’s not just you. The posts of the troll newbies are all easily identified by their lack of capitalization, punctuation, editing for clarity and general idiocy.

I’m hoping that most of them will lose interest and go away and the ones that are left will go out with a bang.

2L8 on December 28, 2011 at 8:20 AM

I’m afraid I can’t approve of playing 5 hours of golf with your friends on Christmas day.

MayBee on December 27, 2011 at 8:14 PM

This is certainly may be an Obamaturism, as it explains everything we always knew about the SCKOAMF-OTUS©:

1. Uses the military as his minions (security detail at golf)
2. Selfish in the season of giving (as opposed to spending the day with the family)
3. Only attends religious services on Christmas day, for a
PHOTO-OP.(Self-serving vs. Selfish)
4. BoyKing: Flies the family out of town on a lavish vacation, while most families are just getting-by.
5. After delivering pizza around DC, he is so exhausted, he thinks he deserves a few rounds of golf. (unaware that the dlivery-gig is OJT for post-Jan 2013)
6. Unaware that his family gave him this golf present so they could have a pleasant holiday!!!

askwhatif on December 28, 2011 at 8:22 AM

I never read or hear anything about his scores. After watching that lame 1st pitch he threw and the infamous gutter ball, I wonder if he can even break 100.

FineasFinn on December 28, 2011 at 8:28 AM

Having seen Obama attempting to play “American” sports,

It’s as if he never played them. They seem foreign to him.

Bowling, nope
Baseball, nope
Golf, nope
Basketball ? We hear that he plays, but I’ve never seen any
footage of his game. Wonder why ?

amadan on December 27, 2011

Perhaps a round of cricket followed by some sweet tea would be more appropriate.
(chuckle)
Oh, and we’ve never seen him play round ball because the b-ball court is only place where Slappy’s “sharp elbows” get thrown right back at him. Sometimes.
(hey, everyone needs a nick name ;-´)

I wonder if he plays b-ball wearing his mom jeans?
BTW … Who did the Black Narcissus have stand in line for him to snatch up a few pair of the latest over-priced Air Jordan tennies?
Just Curious

Guys, while we waste our time fretting over how many golf games Obama plays… Republicans took control of the house in 2010 to curtail Obama’s disasterous policies… Lookie here they managed to repeal the light bulb ban..big whoop.
Meanwhile the Obama continues to borrow and spend,(he only needs an other 1.2 trillion to spread around…when thats gone then what)
.

philly_PA on December 28, 2011 at 8:58 AM

In the grand scheme of things, President Obama’s golfing habits are simply a distraction. That said, the President’s behavior does give us insight into his character and his actions allow us to really gauge whether or not he means what he says.

Did President Bush take vacations? Of course he did. Although, I would not try to compare President Obama’s lavish trips to Martha’s Vineyard, Hawaii, Chicago, New York, Spain, Paris or other destinations in the same light as President Bush’s trips to Camp David. Camp David which, by the way, is designed to serve the purpose of a “get-a-way” for the President.

Let’s not forget, however, that President Bush was not making speeches to the American people insisting that we need to “sacrifice” or “toughen up” or “do with less”. He certainly didn’t refer to the American people as “lazy” either. You cannot tell the American people they need to sacrifice and do with less while taking rather lavish vacations at tax payer expense, spending a lot of time playing golf, basketball, or other activities and generally living it up.

The fact is, President Obama’s actions tell the rest of America that some animals are more equal than others.

Flashwing on December 28, 2011 at 10:50 AM

you know, sometimes i feel like i’m really getting nothing accomplished; so i stop and think of obama’s accomplishments and immediately feel better about my own.

Amen to that!
I hope the moronic 52% who voted for The Lazy One are happy.
Had a vacay in HA lately, 99%ers?

Isn’t kind of ironic that ezra chose a bedbug as his tag? You know that parasitic pest that plaques anyone that has the audacity to travel on businesss or pleasure and sucks and breeds like crazy.

Meanwhile, the Kenyan’s minions ban the use of any effective pesiticides to eliminate this curse. he’d rather have us all living like his kenyan brothers in misery than to allow chemicals that have been around for years to be used on these pests.

of course, not much of an issue when you stay in 5 star resorts and bring entourages of 500 of your closest friends and inservants. they can just go out and buy new mattresses.

acyl72 on December 28, 2011 at 11:19 AM

And no matter how pathetic this man continues to be, Hawaii will be a blue state – just like the idiots of CA.

sdbatboy on December 28, 2011 at 11:38 AM

This may be unrelated but feel the need to post this. I have heard many people proclaim Obama is, at the very least, a good father. WRONG – think about Obama bringing those lovely girls to Rev Wrights church every week, these girls listening very closely to this very important man, Rev Wright, this man who is idolized by their father. Not very good fathering, IMHO

BabysCatz on December 28, 2011 at 11:48 AM

related to my above comment – BTW – when I dare tell folks this, I am accused of “attacking Obama’s daughters” WRONG again…. the attack is against Obama & Rev Wright, the racist

BabysCatz on December 28, 2011 at 11:50 AM

obama’s presidency is like his golf game, not getting any better with time. he should should quit both and go back to preaching in the slums of Chicago.

burserker on December 28, 2011 at 12:15 PM

I personally think we’re better off when the big O is NOT working – since that means he’s not screwing up our lives – at least not directly. But having been a DoD contractor for 24 years, since my Air Force time, I also know that military and federal government civil service personnel only get 30 days of leave per year. Since O is technically a federal employee, where is all this extra vacation time coming from?

dentarthurdent on December 28, 2011 at 12:28 PM

They’d probably sacrifice their own children to save Obama’s Presidency.

ardenenoch on December 27, 2011 at 6:48 PM

Yes, they would…and still are….
And yours, and mine, and everybody’s….

DrScottMD on December 28, 2011 at 1:30 PM

Linky little proofy things? Or, should your unsupported assertion be enough?
massrighty on December 27, 2011 at 9:51 PM

Here and Here

Bush’s “Vacation Time” was calculated by a “reporter” for C-BS “News”, which was busted for using Forged Documents in a “news” story they “reported”.
Likewise, the WaPo “calculations” of Bush vacation days were dishonest in that they considerd 1 hour on the ground outside of DC as a full vacation day.
Del Dolemonte on December 27, 2011 at 10:53 PM

Congratulations on finding the ” on the keyboard. You have backup for any of this? CBS’s Mark Knoller is the only one keeping such statistics, so he’s quoted pretty much everywhere. You have another source? Conservative organizations are (not so) oddly silent on the topic.

Constantine on December 28, 2011 at 3:10 PM

I thought the main advantage to being black was not having to play golf.

Hucklebuck on December 28, 2011 at 3:13 PM

Hucklebuck on December 28, 2011 at 3:13 PM

I really didn’t want to get into anything racial, but since you set it up:
It’s ok – Obama is only HALF black – like Tiger Woods.

dentarthurdent on December 28, 2011 at 4:11 PM

You’re giving Obama too much credit. G. W. Bush was the real party animal…by this time in his presidency he’d spent around 383 days on vacation. Apparently it’s not that hard mismanaging two wars and draining the treasury.

Constantine on December 27, 2011 at 8:00 PM

… Mark Knoller is the only one keeping such statistics, so he’s quoted pretty much everywhere. You have another source? Conservative organizations are (not so) oddly silent on the topic.

Constantine on December 28, 2011 at 3:10 PM

Do you really expect to win hearts or minds with this? “By this time” would be 1073 days into office. 383/1073 = 36%.

No U.S. President, not Bush or Obama or any other, spent over 1/3 of their workdays vacationing. Your claim doesn’t even pass the smell test. Does 383 count weekends? Numerically that would seem more sensible, but now it’s worthless to your argument.

If you hate Bush and are happy with Obama, fine; you have every right to hold and express your view. But presumably in posting here you wanted to convince someone else of that view. The above blather isn’t doing it.
