Poll: Obamateurism of the Year, Flight 7
posted at 8:05 am on December 26, 2011 by Ed Morrissey
Did we all have a merry Christmas, and did Santa bring us all some lovely gifts? Then let’s return to the lovely gifts that our President has given us this year and select the next semifinalist for the Obamateurism of the Year. On Christmas Eve, voters selected Barack Obama’s declaration that “When I said, “change we can believe in,” I didn’t say “change we can believe in tomorrow” as the first selection to the second semifinal round. It won’t get easier to choose today, either — so be sure to cast your vote now, because each poll will get closed when the next poll gets posted!
Be prepared for a stroll down memory lane! Click on the links below to review the OOTDs in today’s poll:
- “But if you love me, you’ve got to help me pass this bill!”
- Demands joint session to compete with GOP debate, forced to back down
- President & First Lady take separate jets to Martha’s Vineyard 4 hours apart
- Says “I want to sell goods all over the world that are stamped with three words: ‘Made in America’” … from Canadian bus
- Rails against “big money flooding the airwaves” in politics … at a $35,800 per person fundraiser

Got an Obamateurism of the Day? If you see a foul-up by Barack Obama, e-mail it to me at obamaisms@edmorrissey.com with the quote and the link to the Obamateurism. I’ll post the best Obamateurisms on a daily basis, depending on how many I receive. Include a link to your blog, and I’ll give some link love as well. And unlike Slate, I promise to end the feature when Barack Obama leaves office.

No, we don’t “love” him. Even his psychophants (yes, i know) are bailing out.
BUT …
The constant major fund-raising while denigrating the wealthy is diaphanous in its hypocrisy.

Way tough this one is, but damn if I can’t stand the separate flights these two take!
bernzright777 on December 26, 2011 at 8:11 AM
A big ole head on a big scary bus.
Key West Reader on December 26, 2011 at 8:13 AM
Bern, I don’t think the separate flights are amateurish… they are meant to thumb their noses at the taxpaying citizenry, We, the 47%. They are entitled to the fruits of our labor…. Didn’t you get the memo?
LOL
Key West Reader on December 26, 2011 at 8:14 AM
The separate jets. It clearly defines how irresponsible the amateur-in-chief is.
backwoods conservative on December 26, 2011 at 8:19 AM
I dunno, the “If you love me” plea is just so needy.

Tough choices today. Again! I’m going with the abuse of power with the SOTU speech during a GOP debate. The Community Organizer disrespects democracy, simple decorum, and fair play. It’s all about the O.

I had to go with the joint sesion demand. It made my day when he had to cave.
It’s almost as if he was raised by Duvalier.

Obama exhibits lots of audacity in these choices. He is quite confident that the media will not confront him on his in-your-face remarks or behaviors. And he is right.

.
Serial abusers are like this – they abuse, they take advantage, they behave hurtfully and all of a sudden when it looks like they are going to have to ride the bicycle to work, they want somebody else who “loves” them to be responsible. They also have the language skills to use guilt as a weapon. It’s the old “The bill didn’t pass so obviously you don’t love me; but if you do, give me some money so I can continue the fight for you.”
ExpressoBold on December 26, 2011 at 8:29 AM
I wonder if the imbecilic putz had his “Made in America” Canadian bus flown over to Asia with him?
Flora Duh on December 26, 2011 at 8:29 AM
Let’s throw him under that Canadian bus.
Figuratively, of course.
itsnotaboutme on December 26, 2011 at 8:30 AM
I had to go with the separate jets, seriously, four hours and someone could change their plans? There are days when I wish the White House staff wasn’t too professional to spill some inside gossip.
Cindy Munford on December 26, 2011 at 8:32 AM
It was a tough choice, the flights show how out of touch he is and the “if you love me” shows what a narcissist he is. Why do we want to vote him out, in November? Let us count the reasons.
bflat879 on December 26, 2011 at 8:33 AM
Today’s choice was very tough. I had to go with the “Big money, big prizes, I love it” one </SmashTV>

I’ll take love equated with legislative support for $300, Alex!
Hope you had a Merry Christmas, Ed.

BAD choices!!! Any one of those could win in their on right. Now 4 jewels go into the ash heap of Obumba memory. (But I understand…there are so many and the line has to be drawn somewhere.)

Their plans for 2013 and beyond are going to get changed.
backwoods conservative on December 26, 2011 at 8:36 AM
Gack, these get tougher. Had to go with the joint session v. GOP debate. After all his effort to disrupt and bully the Republicans, it turned out to be just another boring campaign speech.

I think it should disgust the american ppl that the (king) and (queen) cannot ride together on their many vacations! It turns my stomach!

Merry Christmas and may the Holy Trinity be with you!
I voted for the bus, because an Obamateurism means that he didn’t think it through-meaning not on absolute purpose. And if advised to the contrary he runs with it because he can be that stubborn. That’s why he’s nicknamed “The Boy King”.
I was inclined to vote for the joint session and the debate; that also reflects stuck on stoopid. See, this is tricky! There are so many options where he MEANT IT and he WANTED IT THAT WAY
ProudPalinFan on December 26, 2011 at 8:45 AM
Ok…looks like I should have multiple ID’s to vote for several of these. This is too tough…Ed….IF you really loved us, you’d make it easier!

I’ve noticed that from the very first week of his presidency. I think it stems from fact that he’s surrounded himself with fellow hardcore commies, leftist, Marxist etc. His entire term has been one flub after the other. This administration is a disaster.
newportmike on December 26, 2011 at 9:21 AM
I’m torn, I would love some real inside stuff but I also want our presidents to be able to be comfortable to be themselves. Not that The Won doesn’t think that his every breath is wonderful.

Tough to choose. I picked the “if you love me” because it was so unpresidential and “amateurish.” But any of these could win…

cmsinaz on December 26, 2011 at 9:42 AM
Flying separate jets infuriates me. It’s so wasteful and idiotic I got to thinking maybe there’s a reason for this that we don’t know about. Not that Mr. President isn’t a wasteful idiot, but maybe they fly separately because of some kind of security issue. It’s hard to believe they would do this again after the last outcry unless there was a good reason.
scalleywag on December 26, 2011 at 9:42 AM
This one is more difficult than previous flights….I could chose each one of these easily.

“If you love me…”
Don’t vote for this bill because it’s good policy, because I’m looking out for the best interest of the country, because it’s the right thing to do… Vote because it’s all about me.
All of the above Obamateurisms fall into the self-serving “it’s all about me” category.

If you love me……….
That’s exactly how he got elected. Not on experience, not on knowledge, not on fitness for the job, but rather collecting adoration from the masses.
However, those of you that are so sure it’s over in 2012 better look at two things. 1. the occupy movement that plans to take the nation hostage. 2. The GOP elite who have declared that Romney IS the candidate and will do anything to make it so.

It does kind of seem that way, doesn’t it. It would be nice if the people (or God forbid, Congress) would demand some sort of explanation or justification for the expense but no one ever does.
scalleywag on December 26, 2011 at 10:15 AM
King Barry and Queen Michelle don’t just have his/her private jets, they also have his/her motorcades too.
Could be a security thing or it could be that the Obamas want to show the world just how awesome and special they are.

Martha’s Vineyard really fried my beans. I grew up in Rhode Island and have been to Martha’s Vineyard once (a day trip on the cheap ferry). I do not begrudge people their luxuries whatsoever, but on our taxpayer dime….
redmama on December 26, 2011 at 10:21 AM
Hardest choice yet. For pure stupidity and/or amateurish play, separate jets. Any minute now Marie Obama is going to say let them eat cake….or buy a new car if they cannot afford gasoline.
jukin3 on December 26, 2011 at 10:24 AM
Had to go with the bus. Only an amateur would be so callow to make such an inane mistake. The demand of airtime would be my # 2.

Excellent summation.
As a former “clinically certified domestic violence counselor”, the pieces you set forth complete the puzzle:
Too many wives/girlfriends cave and, on the other hand, men are embarrassed to claim that they have been “abused”.
And all that leads us to MØochelle and her extended family who lives on our dime in the White House and then travels all over the world whenever the next wanderlust whim strikes.
The man-child in mom jeans was easily castrated at the wedding.

Number 5. Most of what he does is outrageous and in your face. Team Obama learned long ago they could get away with (so far) anything and everything. A president saying “But if you love me…” is disgusting.

Today’s selections are doozies. I went for LOVE, but all are “winners”.
The Canadian bus bought by US taxpayers galls me, as does the separate jet fiasco. Backing down from the joint session shows how Obummer has fallen. The hypocrisy over big money is more of the same from President Jackass.

I had to go with the joint session/debate debacle. The other choices might have reeked of hypocrisy, but he actually made a fool of himself with the joint session demand on debate night, only to backtrack almost immediately.
The Bringer on December 26, 2011 at 2:59 PM
Geesh, these are tough! Everything that arrogant little lying pissant does is so disgusting. Have to say that his whine about loving him made me gag.
jqc1970 on December 26, 2011 at 3:49 PM
For this one, it’s got to be the Joint Session. Not merely the manner in which he demanded the session, but mainly because his address was nothing more than a campaign speech, devoid of any further substance. I have heard other presidential addresses to congress, but never before have I heard a president use congress in this manner, as a backdrop to a re-election speech. Let’s also remember that many members of congress did not want to bother attending the rescheduled speech, except that Sen. Reid announced some sort of vote to take place immediately afterwards. Does anyone anywhere recall an occasion when legislators have to be forced to attend a president’s speech.
This is not the first or only time when Obama has used others as a sort of backdrop to his speeches. Marines have been forced to stand at attention pretending to listen to his campaign speeches; and who can forget his roundly and falsely insulting the Supreme Court justices, before a national audience, while they were in attendance.

Toughest one by far, but gotta go with this, even though it’s really Mooch’s. If there’s one defining moment in Imelda Obama’s public life, this is it. Just giving the little woman her 1,000 pairs of shoes would be cheaper than never ending 5 star vacations on the public dime.
