Video: How is clueless Corzine the CEO of a major company, again?

posted at 5:05 pm on December 12, 2011 by Tina Korbe

All that this guy doesn’t know — or would have to speculate about — would fill an encyclopedia. Kinda makes you wonder: How did he snatch the top spot at MF Global in the first place?

Jon Corzine’s “cluelessness” comes as no surprise, really. His testimony last week was just part of a growing liberal pattern: Nobody knows anything. Eric Holder doesn’t know the details of Fast and Furious, Debbie Wasserman Schultz doesn’t know the facts about unemployment, Charlie Sheen doesn’t know how to tweet and Alec Baldwin doesn’t know how to turn off his cell phone. It’s not funny, really, but it is reality.

Meanwhile, New York Magazine and The New York Times confirm what everybody already knew or at least suspected: Corzine personally pushed the big MF Global bets that led to the mysterious disappearance of about $1 billion in customer money.

If you want to be Treasury Secretary, you must first demonstrate some ability to squander billions of dollars.

Lawdawg86 on December 12, 2011 at 5:10 PM

Hey This Bozo was our Governor and all he succeeded in doing was bankrupting the state of New Jersey. And at the same time he spent MILLIONS OF $$$ on his dating life to get votes.
Look up his weird behavior at Goldman Sachs when they were going ahead with a public offering.
He’s the living definition of an EMPTY SUIT!!!

I feel sorry for whichever intern had to hold their nose and print out that “The Honorable Jon S. Corzine” placard.

Vice President Joe Biden on the stump for Jon Corzine: “The reason why we called Jon is because we knew he knew about the ecomony. About world markets. About how we had to respond, almost unlike anyone we knew…. And we trusted his judgment.”

RickinNH on December 12, 2011 at 5:13 PM

I do not run a multi-billion dollar company, however, I do run a multi-million dollar company in its 29th year of operation. If $680.00 goes missing and unexplained, you damn well better believe that I will know about and find it, or who is responsible for it being missing; sooner rather than later!

I think I see a very effective campaign ad in that statement to be used against all Democrats running for any office…

Corzine was a co-signer of Sarbanes-Oxley which “requires” CEOs to know this kind of information. But he’s a liberal so it’s implicitly understood that he doesn’t have to held accountable to the same rules he expects others to live up to.

Accountability is for the little guys who deal in millions or less. Ask the volunteers at our high school concession stand. They had better be able to account for how many paper cups they have at the end of the night compared to how many sodas they supposedly sold.

But no one should expect someone to keep track of billions…besides, it wasn’t even his money.

Corzine was the jerk who lowered NJ speed limits because it was the Green thing to do, then got caught going 100mph on the NJT. And the way he got caught presaged the way he got caught with MF: he crashed. What a absolute lack of integrity. Just the right guy for his equal, Biden, to put his trust in.

paul1149 on December 12, 2011 at 5:27 PM

Anyone remember The Hudsucker Proxy? Except in this case, Corzine really is the clueless fall guy that everyone mistook Norville Barnes for. And the company really does fail.

I read today about some poor guy that got in trouble with the feds over some environmental rule because he opened up the wrong sewer line to clear some clogged toilets. He had to do a plea bargain as I guess it was not worth trying to fight it.

It really disgusts me that we are sticking it to people while the Corzines of the world (and there are more) can get off scott free.

earlgrey133 on December 12, 2011 at 5:33 PM

I learned it used to stand for Man Financial, however persons who have lost money in MF Global have altered that to something else.

“Jon Corzine helped craft the Recovery Act. It’s not coincidental.

…Way back in the transition period, before we were sworn in, when Barack Obama and I were literally sitting at a desk in a high rise in Chicago, beginning the plan on how we would try to get this economy out of a ditch, literally, the first guy I called was Jon Corzine. It’s not a joke. It’s not a joke. First of all, he’s the smartest guy I know in terms of the economy and on finance, and I really mean that.”

Which selection below is most correct:

(a) Corzine is an idiot, which means Biden is a Super-Idiot, or Vice-Idiot, serving with our Idiot-In-Chief,
(b) Corzine is a liar, which means Biden is a Super Liar, or Vice-Liar, serving with our Liar-In-Chief,
(c) Corzine is full-of-crap, which means Biden is Super Full-of-Crap, of Vice Full-of-Crap, serving with out Full-Of-Crap In Chief,
(d) Corzine is an ignoramus, which means that Biden is Super Ignoramus, of Vice Ignoramus, serving with out Ignoramus In Chief
(e) any combination or variation of the above choices a-c

The word is accountability and the American people want it. Average Joes are sick and tired of these rich muckety mucks getting by with crimes that would put the rest of us behind bars for a very long time. I don’t care what party they are in, they need to be held accountable for their actions. The mood of the country would improve 100%. Bring on the perp walks. America needs it.

The press assumes that the DC-Wall Street employment pipeline is bipartisan. It’s not. Wall Street leaps to hurl big bucks at those who leave federal employee but only if they’re D’s — Rubin, Orszag, Corzine, Sperling — regardless of competence. Check up on the recent former R WH top staff and you don’t see any such trend. Paulson was a really rare exception, and he brought several D’s with him.

Yes, I used to be the governor of the Great State of New Jersey. Before that I represented New Jersey as a US Senator.
Yeah, I’m in charge of this 220-year-old, multi-million-dollar company.
Yup, they paid me a lot of money to be the CEO.
Uh-huh, I was a big deal at Goldman Sachs.

…..What, a billion dollars of my customers’ money missing? Jeez, you got me. I just don’t know what could have happened to it.
Um…things just kind of happened around there and I wasn’t really in the loop.

Investment companies aren’t successful if they can’t keep track of every dime of their customers’ money. This guy belongs in jail.

Dave in San Diego on December 12, 2011 at 9:08 PM

I won’t be surprised if he were to go “missing” since this is New Jersey. I can almost guarantee there’s some mob money missing.

ManWithNoName on December 12, 2011 at 9:36 PM

Paper is no longer needed to move billions. Obama can collect foreign donations via electronic transactions. But, if a non player wants to run anti incumbent ads in the months preceding an election, the non player will be caught because the ads go on television, and not into a computer sinkhole. Thus the pond is reserved for club members only

The Treasury can create bonds on a computer, sell the bonds to itself on the computer, and transfer the new found wealth to the bottom line of another computer file. The buck stops at the printing office which suddenly has to crank up when the clearinghouses want to convert the newly minted EFTs to paper when the direct deposits are cashed

Who hired Craig Livingstone? We still don’t know how he got installed in the Clinton White House, although the files he lifted probably are still earning dividends for the Left. No paper trail

Digitized birth certificates are only as good as their last update

Corzine knew, because if he did not know he would be screaming from the rooftops that he was robbed. He sure has a lot of friends, because anyone else by now would be hauled off in chains

I have never seen such an enormous collapse of the elites

I think it’s because they are running out of money, to tax, borrow and steal

The EuroCrats, anti-democratic and progressive to the Core; the original Trans-Progs, or Transnational Progressives, overseeing teh EU

The Democrats, and Wall street (redundant, I know…) are liberal to a fault, mostly all corrupt and engage in industrial strength “Corporatism” or State sanctioned Capitalism…

The Squid, a.k.a. Goldman sacks alumni like Corzine, nuff said.
