The last stand of Occupy Boston

posted at 6:20 pm on December 9, 2011 by Jazz Shaw

I know… I know… you thought all of this occupy stuff was over, right? Cold weather is moving in and the homeless masses are moving to warmer climes. Not so in Boston, though! The Death Star may be approaching, but they’re still counting on the Ewoks to bail them out.

The refuse-to-die Boston Occupy movement has sent out an alert saying police won’t evict the remaining stragglers at the Dewey Square camp “if we have numbers” and organizers are calling for a general meeting tonight.

Mayor Thomas M. Menino gave the campers until midnight last night to pull up and take a hike, but a core group of about 20 tents remains.

“We won last night because YOU showed up,” the Occupy alert states. “They won’t evict us if we have numbers. We need you. Come out today and help. General mtg 7pm!”

The defiant alert comes as two dozen occupiers stick to their tents at the downtown encampment. The larger tents — for food, communication and health — have been hauled away.

A drum group is now leading the occupiers in a chant, that goes in part: “Hell no ain’t gonna go.”

I suppose the lessons which should have been learned in other cities hasn’t quite sunk in out there in Beantown. Start the countdown clock.

Image how sad meaningless a persons life must be, if the OWS movement is their main focus.

Tommy_G on December 9, 2011 at 6:24 PM

If they were smart, the cops would toss Menino at the same time.

But no one has ever accused the citizens of Beantown of being smart.

There is one sure fire way to end it.

IGNORE THEM

Just let em’ alone. No coverage at all.

No police protection or monitoring. They will descend into chaos and madness and disband.

What’s really funny is that the OWS thing all started to collapse cuz the drummers were annoying everybody – yeah, this was before the raping, murdering, crapping everywhere, etc. Yet the drummers are the ones who are remaining.

The only difference between these stinkers and the Democrat convention is the Democrat convention goers take a shower once in a while and put on clean clothes, otherwise this is exactly the type group the community organizer organizes, practice run for Nov 2012, tweets from Blackberry Won to millions of taxpayer funded cell phones to get out the vote.

ConcealedKerry on December 9, 2011 at 7:08 PM

I thought these people were the Dems people. They deserve a booth at the Convention right next to the Al Jazeera booth.

If they are still there after tonight, they will get their first real Dose of Reality over the weekend.

It was in the low 50′s in Boston today and will only get down to 46 degrees tonight, but starting Saturday the daily Highs will only be in the low 40s, and the Lows at night will be in the high 20s.

Too bad Whitey Bulger’s old crew isn’t still around.

The city could contract with them to remove the occupiers and dispose of the remains – for an adequate fee, of course.

I wonder how much lube would be needed to show one of those drums up someone’s…uh…excretory tunnels? Any Proc Docs online?

Uh…shove, not show.

Horace on December 9, 2011 at 8:00 PM

I know… I know… you thought all of this occupy stuff was over, right?

Not in the least. Occupy DC enjoys protection from a certain jug-eared benefactor. The occupods of DC are calling for all their displaced brethren to come to DC and camp out in Freedom Plaza or McPhearson Square depending on whether they are more about drugs or sex.

They are able to do so because the National Park Service (under our jug-eared leader) refuses to evict them.

Happy Nomad on December 9, 2011 at 8:13 PM

Since Elizabeth Warren “created the intellectual foundation” for the Occupy Movement, shouldn’t she just hire these poor unwashed Boston stragglers for her campaign?

BRunner on December 9, 2011 at 8:22 PM

I suppose the lessons which should have been learned in other cities hasn’t quite sunk in out there in Beantown. Start the countdown clock.

A couple of weeks ago a sympathetic, far-left judge (there are no other types of judges here in MA) issued a preemptive restraining order preventing the city from evicting the squatters. It was lifted a couple of days ago.

lorien1973 on December 9, 2011 at 6:32 PM

Yes, I have noticed this detail. I presume that there is some group ideology about drumming, but I don’t have a clue what it says. I think it is something we should know in replying to the Occupy movement and whatever the Gandhi-inspired Left tries next. (I despise everything about Gandhi.)

Occupy Boston will never die so long as Elizabeth Warren is running for Senate.

Here in Lincoln NE tents are still up. But, they haven’t caused any trouble really. I suspect the tents are actually empty and it’s all a facade which is why it’s so quiet. They’ll probably be here forever…

KateNE on December 9, 2011 at 9:51 PM

Suffolk Superior Court Judge Frances McIntyre ruled that although the protesters are exercising their rights to freedom of expression from government interference, the occupation of state land is essentially viewed “as a hostile act” that is neither speech “nor is it immune from criminal prosecution for trespass or other crimes.”

To the extent that the act of occupation, as defined, communicates, it speaks of boldness, outrage, and a willingness to take personal risk. But the plaintiffs’ occupation of Dewey Square to the effective exclusion of others is the very antithesis of their message that a more just and egalitarian society is possible. It does not send the message the plaintiffs profess to intend.” — Judge Francis McIntyre

Even many of us in Boston think the remaining people are a joke. It should be noted that five of the people are from Vermont and recently moved here, but yeah, the entire movement is mostly dead here.

Remember the good old days when the OWS movement was “unstoppable” and the “beginning of a global revolution”? Leftists have this tendency to romanticize and exaggerate themselves in the heady days before the reality of their deluded impotence sets in. They seem to be missing several crucial parts of their brains.

There’s a great idea: have the coppers pick ‘em all up and dump them in Boston harbor! If you’ve tossed in some soap flakes first, you get a twofer. Actually, given all the goodness in that idea, it might be a threefer or fourfer!
