If President Barack Obama cannot nominate and receive Congressional approval of a new NLRB member by the end of the year, the board will shrink from three to two members. Due to a 2010 Supreme Court ruling, it will not be able to make decisions or grant rulings because it needs a quorum.

Lindsey Graham isn’t falling for it. In today’s The State:
“Unfortunately, real and serious damage to America’s competitiveness has already been done,” DeMint said. “A precedent has been set by the NLRB that they will attack businesses in forced-unionism states that try to create jobs in right-to-work states.”

U.S. Sen. Lindsey Graham, a Seneca Republican, called for a congressional investigation and said he’ll continue an indefinite hold on President Barack Obama’s nominees to the NLRB.

The people of South Carolina are still pissed-off at the NLRB and Washington. The question is, does the NLRB really have the power to do what it attempted to do against Boeing for locating a plant in a Right to Work state? If it does, it has way, way too much power. And, should be reeled-in by Congress.

Sure, he has a spine. He's demonstrated it numerous times to other Republicans. I used to be represented by Graham, and occasionally I still wish I were, because my Georgia (R) Senators are consistently worse than him. Graham's problem is that he follows several different codes of behavior that often conflict with each other---code of conservatism/code of the Senate/code of reserve military officer/code of a Southern gentleman/code of John McCain (whose moods are determined by Cindy's choice of perfume)'s protege/etc.--in other words, Graham looks at any contentious issue from numerous perspectives, and then chooses the one that allows him to wear the whitest hat. While he is far more principled than Barry O'bama, he is in many ways just as poor a leader, because he makes himself unfollowable (which to me is the the #1 requirement for leadership--Be Followable!!) Our problem with Graham is that we conservatives gave him a more prominent place in DC than his personal conservatism warranted. The average voter in SC is more conservative than their senior Senator.

I love how everyone assumes that our spineless GOP leaders will take a stand against anything. I would bet a dollar that suddenly Graham goes back to more friendly terms with the Dems now that the NLRB case is done. All bluster…no action. That’s the GOP these days.

yeah, there’s no mixed blessing here. Barry’s shakedown crew is purring along…this is really what ‘community organizer’ is all about…get proletarian types to do some direct action against deep pockets or government agency and wait for the money to be disgorged. Argh! This drives me crazy!

Not to single out paul, as I’ve seen many others do it too, but just for reference, the expression is “Toeing the line” not “Towing the line”.

It’s a military term tat refers to standing in a straight line with everyone’s toes lining up. So, to “toe the line” means that you have “fallen in” and are at one with the rest of the group.

So toe the line and use your idioms correctly, soldier!

South Carolina Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham said he would block any Obama nominee to the NLRB as long as the Board pursued the case against Boeing. Now that the NLRB has dropped the case, Republican opposition to new nominees might not be as unwavering. An NLRB filled with Obama appointees would be even more biased toward unions than the Board we have now. Republicans in Washington need to remember this case as a warning — and still work to limit the unwarranted power of the NLRB.

Bad decision by Boeing if you ask me. 4 years from now they’ll be dealing with these thugs again. But hopefully, the NLRB will be disbanded or chock full of “F you, unions!” types of people. (Pick me! Pick me! to be on the NLRB)
