Meghan McCain: Second look at Bachmann?

posted at 9:15 pm on December 2, 2011 by Allahpundit

C’mon, I had to post it. Alternate headline: “Meggie Mac, true conservative?

Two points. First, you might notice a verbal gaffe or two committed by our heroine. (She addressed that today on Twitter.) It’s a fair cop but hard for me to get worked about relative to MSNBC’s general sleaziness. If you want to knock her for something, knock her for being willing to share a network with this. Second, why hasn’t Bachmann done better among primary voters? Her claim about Gardasil and retardation was embarrassing and irresponsible, but that’s not going to singlehandedly sink a candidacy. She’s performed well at the debates and, unlike our two current frontrunners, boasts legit tea-party cred. The fact that she has just a few years of experience in government is no impediment — Cain has zero experience, proudly touts that fact, and was at 30 percent a month ago. So what’s the problem? Say what you will about Bachmann but it’s hard to imagine her reneging on a campaign promise. Not so with Gingrich or, especially, Romney. If Meggie is with her, who can be against her?

Exit question one: What’s with NBC hiring the children of famous people? MegMac, Chelsea Clinton, Jenna Bush, Luke Russert. What special insight do they think they’re getting here? Exit question two via CBS: Does the tea party still matter?

You all realize that this woman is so mentally challenged that what you’re doing to her amounts to abuse, right?

MM remains a ninny.

Bachmann might be the rich man’s Christine O’Donnell. #Bad4theBrand

SarahW on December 3, 2011 at 12:30 PM

It is easy to forget that Bachmann is very smart and accomplished. MM bought into the MSM trash talk. She is a formidable intellect when she focuses, particularly on taxes and national security.
Bachmann must learn not to take the bait. Something Palin learned way too late.

Well, after being forced to purchase a wide angle lens, NBC has to get their money’s worth out of her. Clearly, her opinion holds about as much weight as Lady Gaga’s blatherings.

Sorry Sparky….

Bachmann is just a poor mini-me version of Sarah Palin.

Laugh all you want, but Meghan’s endorsements carry a lot of weight in the fat illiterate whore demographic.

Like it or not, Maggie Mac is the soul of what’s left of the republic party.

This should be the end of Bachman; a red flag so enormous even a blind man can see it in the dead of night.

We shall see…

Addendum:

“Meggie Mac, true conservative?”

No, just trying to shove the Mr. Pibb to Sarah Palin’s Dr. Pepper down the throats of conservatives as “Just as good- NO! BETTER!- than the real thing!…Did I mention how mean Sarah Palin was to me and my mommy?” not understanding that conservatives aren’t as stupid as her profs at Columbia (and her parents) told her we are.

SuperCool on December 3, 2011 at 3:54 PM

“She [Bachmann] is a formidable intellect” No she isn’t. She is nearly the opposite.

I wish Moo-gan would move to Sedona and convince her dad to retire and do the same…

Khun Joe on December 3, 2011 at 6:34 PM

I made it through one minute of that clip.

Those people on MSNBC are just SCUM. They are about as objective as Castro reporting for Pravda. Complete girly men and that gal “you’re drinking the Bachmann kool-aid”.

They watch as Rome burns……and they laugh as the flames grow higher.

They are sick.

MISSION # 1:
Defeat Obama

MISSION # 2:
Do it with a Principled Imperfect, Fearless, Consistent CONSERVATIVE.

If someone can convince me that Rick Perry or Newt can be that person okay but until then it’s Bachmann or Santorum for me.

PappyD61 on December 3, 2011 at 7:06 PM

I can’t believe that this media parasite actually referred to anything she might have said as “famously”.

Jesus will forgive her. I will not.

Why Michelle Bachmann is not doing better in the polls is an interesting question. I think it’s because she comes across as petty and somewhat vindictive. And she makes mistakes. She’s on the House Intelligence Committee, and doesn’t know that we haven’t had an embassy in Iran since 1979? This one makes Herman Cain look brilliant.

MrLynn on December 3, 2011 at 10:44 PM

This young lady – and I use the term loosely – has never said anything “famously.”

I have never, ever encountered her except during visits to HotAir. And that was only when her father was running for President.

Now? Now I have no idea why she’s newsworthy.

Professor Blather on December 4, 2011 at 12:52 AM

Ok, enough with the fat jokes. The “megaton” thing should be “MegaTRON”
She is a Decepticon just like her daddy.

pat on December 3, 2011 at 1:00 PM

By the way, what Bachmann had to learn to do was shape the debate, instead of rehashing week-old Palin Facebook posts. ;)

ddrintn on December 4, 2011 at 9:04 AM

I see Meghan still has a Palin problem. You have to feel sorry for Bachmann. What is she polling around 4%? Now she will be polling around 1%.

Bachmann is not more smarter than Meghan for giving that interview.

What was she thinking?

I guess nobody else wants to interview Bachmann and you have got to take whatever you can get.

oldyeller on December 4, 2011 at 11:25 AM

Say what you will about Bachmann but it’s hard to imagine her reneging on a campaign promise

As of now, I would vote for her but I will not vote for Gingrich

My smartest friend has a theory appropriate to any McCain thread. Conservatives were manipulated in the McCain primary to move McCain into the nomination. Giuliani, Fred ran, collected votes and then, almost as if on purpose, blew up their candidacies and raced to give McCain their votes. Huckabee was left out to catch religious voters with only McCain to hand them to at the convention.

My friend is watching candidates go down, one by one. Cain was a timed take down. However, Cain knew he had one babe in the backroom the whole time. Perry blew himself up with amnesty. Gingrich pulled the same amnesty bomb and he has enough in Google on global warming, cap-and-trade etc to blow up the Titanic. Palin is hiding on amnesty to this minute, yet a muted ‘draft Palin’ chant is heard. Friend said it smells like McCain all over. We had quite a discussion. If so, in whose direction are they trying to herd the base? To Palin, the one who gets amnesia on amnesty, or to Romney, whom the Club ostensibly hated yet is moving slowly to endorse. Friend smells a fix

Do not assume any candidate is part of the fix. Many fools can be manipulated on their own egos to fit the strategy

This is why Santorum and Bachmann look so decent. They are truly outside the Club.

Exit question one: why is hollywood filling the movies with offspring of movie stars, big wigs etc. They are getting uglier and less talented each generation, but the MSM still says they are fabulous

Exit question two: the tea party is all angry conservatives. While candidates are running for nomination, the Tea party will be on hold, because each day some candidate re creates himself. When the deal is done, if the candidate stinks, beware. The Tea Party is the representation of the anger. If they have a good candidate, the anger will be channeled. So far, don’t see it

That theory has credence, but don’t discount the STUPID CROSS-OVER VOTES in states where they were allowed.

I’d like to see that practice abolished.

I’d also like to see the SUPER DELEGATES abolished.

If we could just get her biological computer fixed, she’d be almost perfect. : )

listens2glenn on December 4, 2011 at 7:15 PM

It’s far too easy to smear female politicoes, and women in general, as stupid. For some reason people (men and women alike) are much more likely to believe an accusation of idiocy against a woman than a man.

That said, I have a very low estimate of MM’s brain cell count. The editor emeritus must be frustrated at having to share initials with her.

listens2glenn on December 5, 2011 at 5:18 PM

Michelle Bachmann is underperforming because the left successfully caricatured her as an idiot and a liar.

Is she the best person for the job? Probably not, but Paul Ryan isn’t running. Is she the best in the Republican field of candidates? Maybe. Is she better than Obama? Absolutely.
