If that’s the case the turnout of the anti-Walkers for the election would probably not be very good. I would think that would also provide incentive for pro-Walker voters to turn out in large numbers.

I’m not counting on it. Last summer’s set of 9 recalls saw more votes for the Rats in every district but one than Tom Barrett got in the gubernatorial election last year.

Might assume that, under WI law, if Walker is displaced, the Lt.Gov assumes power until some ‘next election’ ??

Just weeks ago, in the suburbs of Flint MI, State Rep. Paul Scott (R), chairman of the House Education Committee, was removed (by ~200 of 24k votes) thru the mobilizing efforts of the state Teacher’s Union.

The MEA victory dance lasted less than a day — the time it took to appoint a new Committee chair — who is reportedly even less inclined to tolerate the union shenannigans. (http://www.michigancapitolconfidential.com/16046)

Oh .. and until there’s a special election (months away), the district voters are left with NO representation in the state-house.

The normal line of succession doesn’t apply in the case of a recall removal. Indeed, resignation after the petitions are turned in does not cancel the recall election.

Further, they’re also targeting Lt. Gov. Rebecca Kleefisch.

It’s actually 390,000, not counting federal workers, as of October.

How many union peeps opted out of auto deduction of dues?

a group of us, dedicated, go ahead and get a copy of the form of the ballots. we then study it, understand it ahead of time. we create a database AHEAD OF TIME that can be cross referenced very easily.

a few days before the validation starts, we go ahead and plan everyone getting to WI to go ahead and start “manually entering” these signatures and cross reference with names, addresses, etc.

while those who are the fastest out there type and enter (whether they look at the forms or have someone read the information to them), we have others looking and reviewing the data. we may even be able to use some kind of audio product that can enter the information for us.

we can then go ahead and cross reference anything that looks suspect and submit it.

does that make sense? does anyone like the idea? can we do something like this?

The problem is that most of the people involved with the recalls are coming from out of state to assist. Most of the excitement is really in Madison, leave here and it calms down quite a bit.

If I lived closer, I would volunteer to review the signatures on every petition. I bet at least 25% are phoney.

I just gave some money to Scott Walker. Haven’t donated to any other candidates in this cycle but I believe in this guy.

Me too. Hopefully Walker will get a big money bomb from donors all over the country.

Going to a voting booth and pulling the lever is a lot different.

Of course, since the Government Accountability Board (aka the Dead Hand of Doyle) said that all they’ll be doing is making sure the boxes are filled in, One Wisconsin Now is encouraging multiple signatures, hoping that the Walker campaign can’t find all of them in the 10 days they’ll have to challenge them.

Signatures do not have to be someone who has voted or even someone registered to vote, just those “eligible” to vote = 18 or older, resident 28 days.

As a note to those of you with big wallets, because Scott Walker (and Lt. Gov. Rebecca Kleefisch, and state Senators Van Wanggaard, Pam Galloway, Terry Moulton and Scott Fitzgerald) are targeted for recall, their campaigns can accept unlimited amounts of money until the final determination of sufficiency of the petitions against them by the GAB. Of course, they have to spend the money raised beyond the normal limits (for individuals, $10K per campaign cycle to a gov./lt. gov candidate, $1K per campaign cycle to a state Senator candidate, a total of $10K to all candidates/PACs per calendar year) during this time frame (or in further legal challenges).

If you are able to bust those limits, I strongly advise you to consult legal counsel on how to make sure you don’t run afoul of those limits, especially if not all of the “unlimited” money is not spent by the person of your choice.
