Media pretty excited about Perry flubbing voting age at New Hampshire event

posted at 5:40 pm on November 29, 2011 by Allahpundit

Three pages of stories and counting already at Google News. When the news is slow and the “Perry is confused” meme is already in place, even a simple harmless misstatement like this can get blanket coverage. For the record, election day is on November 6 next year, not November 12. And of course, thanks to the 26th Amendment, the voting age is 18 — in all 57 states.

Newt is going to be a disaster for the country. This is from his website on immigration:

If citizens of other nations want to invest and create jobs in America, then we should be making it easier for them to invest, work and potentially gain citizenship through an expanded EB-5 program. The EB-5 program grants permanent residency to overseas investors who create and maintain at least ten American jobs.

The existing EB-5 program, which sets as high as a $1 million minimum investment to be considered for legal residency, is too restrictive and selective. We must expand this program to allow for foreign entrepreneurs who may not have the capital yet, but have the ability to come to the United States and raise enough American capital to form a business.

http://www.newt.org/solutions/immigration

This is essentially citizenship for sale, and will cause our housing prices to skyrocket just like Canada’s due to massive numbers of wealthy Chinese who want to launder their questionably attained money in American real estate. A shack in Vancouver and Toronto run in the millions.

haner on November 29, 2011 at 5:47 PM

Odd that they didn’t get all excited when Obama flubbed his OWN age a few months ago, saying he had a birthday in a week when it was actually in 3 weeks. I guess maybe he didn’t look at his own birth certificate close enough or something.

No, but of course Huntsman is only after the NH vote and cares not about voters in the other 57 states.

AllahPundit, I think that should be 58 states right? He said he’s been to 57 and has one more to go. I demand a recount!!

GRIN

The media has to jump on everything the republican candidates say, what if they were reporting on what Obama, isn’t doing for the country while he campaigns on the tax payer dime.

I don’t get it three pages? If the Perry is finished meme is true, why does the media bother to saturate the news cycle with this?

Dr Evil on November 29, 2011 at 5:50 PM

It’s a matter of making the false true through repetition: Perry is too dumb to be president, Cain is too much a skirt chaser to be president, Bachman is too shrill to be president… Leaving nothing but those acceptable to the NY-DC establishment.

Buy into ANY of these and you are saying you are OK with the Northeast elitists making the calls for this country.

Add this story to one that changes no one’s mind.

Those that hate Perry will continue to do so until their last Not-Romney (Gingrich) has imploded and then they will shift to Romney.

Their reason for hating him has nothing with him being “dumb” – tell me the last dumb three-term successful Governor of the second largest state in the country.

Those that like Perry do so because of his record not his debating skill or mixing up voting ages.

By the way if Gingrich had done this, we would have had articles rushing to defend him from every corner of the blogosphere. Remember how we got articles attacking Perry after his “have no heart” comment vs. articles defending Gingrich after his “humane” comment.

Gingrich will go the way of Cain. He is a media hype designed to end with Romney’s inevitability. But many are slowly waking up to that hype and he will fall, mark my words.

OTOH, when can we get a front page article on Perry being endorsed by Sheriff Arpaio and please – one that is not flavored by “It means nothing”.

I said three-term successful governor.

If Perry’s term had been marked by failure ala Romney, I doubt a conservative state would have re-elected him not once or twice – but three times.

To add to my earlier comment, those that hate Perry do not have any solid reason for doing so. Ignoring his successful governing record and continuing to trumpet that he is dumb – when they very well know that he is not – does conservatism no good. But I doubt their bitterness and envy enables them to see that.

I leave for a few months and HA gets a new batch of trolls. Oh and California is not the largest state in the US.

Johnnyreb on November 29, 2011 at 6:25 PM

whatcat is not a troll just not a Perry fan.

Governor Moonbeam is so many things, moron seems to be putting it nicely.

Dr Evil on November 29, 2011 at 6:32 PM

Jerry Brown – Three term Governor of the largest state, actually.

whatcat on November 29, 2011 at 5:57 PM

Jerry Brown is successful. Please consider that he is the governor of California. That’s what makes him successful. They wanted him.

Mirimichi on November 29, 2011 at 6:33 PM

Wait two weeks when Newt’s ethics sanctions under a GOP Congress become widely known.
Or how Newt singlehandely turned E-Verify from what was going to be a mandatory program to a voluntary program, kneecapping it from the get go.
There was a reason why Newt was less popular than Clinton after he left Congress in shame.
haner on November 29, 2011 at 6:28 PM

It’s not gonna be pretty when thee MSM starts dumping on Newt in earnest. GOPers who have followed him already know about his baggage – but outside the tent, not so much.

Yeah, you would have thought they had enough of him. But it is CA, afterall.

Heh. KHammer is trying to save Romney after his implosion on Special Report.

To be honest, I had my fun with Perry when he was a contender. But now I think it would be kicking him when he’s down. When they’re up they’re fair game, but there’s no sense to it if you believe the candidate has no chance. Well, except in the case of Adrian Huntsman, of course.

When the news is slow…

Is the news slow?

The craven un-American criminals in the Senate just passed “one of the most anti-liberty pieces of legislation of our lifetime,” is all!

Check Out Sen. Rand Paul Railing Against the War on Terror’s Excesses and the Potential Detainment of American Citizens

Oh right. This is “save the drama for your mama” HotAir. Most here love sacrificing our liberties for (the illusion of) safety.

Well, that’s their job, you know. Save the RINOs.

Wow. What did he implode over?

How does thinking Jerry Brown is a moron make him a troll?

sharrukin on November 29, 2011 at 6:28 PM

Callng him successful at first, and then saying he was governor of the “largest state” pretty much did that.

Johnnyreb on November 29, 2011 at 6:58 PM

Yeh, look what the idiot just did!
