So a small fraction of the providers will vote to unionize — and then, more than likely, all Minnesota childcare providers will be deprived of property without due process of law ~~forced to pay union dues~~.

This cannot stand. If they can force daycare workers into unions, they can do the same for private school teachers, or really, anyone. "If you drive on public roads to get to work, you gotta join the Teamsters."

Isn’t this a violation of the right to free association? If i am forced to unionize i am being forced to associate with a group that i didn’t vote for or choose in the first instance. It’s not like antidiscrimination laws which are built upon constitutional protections. Moreover hasn’t the Governor exceeded his power if the legislature didn’t provide for all workers to be unionized or grant the Executive power to forcibly unionize workers?

Take this in conjunction to Michigan’s forced-unionization of care-givers of the disabled–often an individual’s parent–and this can quickly lead to the forced unionization of stay-at-home parents who are “day care providers” to their own kids.

Unfortunately, the majority of Minnesotans voting did not vote for him. He garnered 43.6% of the vote. Our legislature is now Republican controlled for the first time in a million years (give or take).

Are there any exceptions to the unionization and dues requirements? Do unpaid family members providing care have to join and pay. Do Church Daycare providers have to join and pay if they are paid by the church. How about paid caregivers during worship services? Is there a certain amount of hours you must perform the service in order to fall under the requirement? Do non-custodial rights parents have to join and pay. What are the requirements to be a unionized child care giver? Do you have to be licensed? What are the barriers to entry? If you are not paid do you still have to join and pay?

This sounds like there are alot of ways it can be unconstitutional. If you cannot vote on representation, how can you be mandated to be represented. Will the people who cannot vote now vote in the future to decertify the union or is voting restricted to only certain union members?

This could get a lot worse as it moves into other segments of the workplace.
