Coming next month: “Occupy Congress” to shill for Obama’s jobs bill
posted at 5:38 pm on November 18, 2011 by Allahpundit
The coalition — which includes unions like SEIU and CWA and groups like the Center for Community Change — is currently working on a plan to bus thousands of protesters from across the country to Washington, where they will congregate around the Capitol from December 5-9, SEIU president Mary Kay Henry tells me in an interview…
One idea under consideration — pending various permitting and other logistical issues — is to have a series of tents set up on the lawn outside the Capitol, each representing a state, with the number of unemployed in each state prominently displayed. But the optics are still being worked out.
One goal of the protests, Henry says, is to pressure Republicans to support Obama’s jobs creation proposals. More generally, the aim is to highlight Congress’s misguided obsession with the deficit and overall inaction on unemployment…
“The reason we’re targeting Republicans is because this is about jobs,” she said. “The Republicans’ insistence that no revenue can be put on the table is the reason we’re not creating jobs in this country. We want to draw a stark contrast between a party that wants to scapegoat immigrants, attack public workers, and protect the rich, versus a president who has been saying he wants America to get back to work and that everybody should pay their fair share.”
Simple problem, simple solution. Democrats want to create the perception of a popular revolt against GOP obstructionism — which, coincidentally, feeds directly into Obama’s re-election strategy of running against Congress — but they can’t rely on the “Occupy” movement to do that for them organically. The occupiers seem to care more about banks and redistribution than partisan wrangling and job creation; even if they did care, there might not be enough of them to create a truly impressive show of strength outside the Capitol; and even if they had the numbers, the accompanying tent city would produce the same crime and cretinism that’s already soured the public on the movement. Imagine the fallout if someone got raped at a camp organized explicitly to shill for Obama and his agenda. The Democrats need a way to coopt the populist “Occupy” brand while stripping the protests of actual occupiers to whatever extent they can. That’s where their union cronies come in: They do care about jobs and shilling for The One, they can deliver the crowd needed to dazzle the media, and presumably they’ll be able to weed out some of the rape-ier elements so that the “occupation” stays reasonably orderly. If it comes off as planned, it may have the added benefit to the left of rehabilitating OWS’s image in time for the general election campaign next year. There’s nothing more all-American these days than hatin’ on Congress, so the “Occupy” brand should get a bounce simply for its choice of targets. Democrats need that to happen in time for the inevitable round of new protests in the spring, which they’re counting on to give the media a pretext to keep pushing Obama’s tax platform.
Via Breitbart TV, here’s a nice example of the cretinism I mentioned. Question: Should tea partiers try to get in on the action next month? It’d be a shame to let all those cameras get hogged by the left, especially since we’re on the brink of the Super Committee failing miserably to agree on deficit reduction. The tea party could use a little anti-Congress image-polishing too, and judging from stories like this, their semi-friendly chats with occupiers could produce some useful points of agreement. An end to federal bailouts is within reach! Just bring mace and maybe a taser if you go.

Very astute observation. In fact, I’d wager that they’d be willing to go and occupy elsewhere if confronted by a real, actual job.

These young protesters aren’t doing it right.

1. Unions have driven jobs out of the country.
2. Government does not create employment.
3. Republicans did offer tax increases but the corrupt cadaver known as Dingy Harry turned them down.

Unions are flush with money … after all, they pay no taxes … why don’t they use it to help unemployed union workers instead of spending millions and millions lobbying Congress to give them billions in taxpayer money?

Opression to them means not having people who work pay for their existence.

Heh, after the recent polling I’m sure Obama will be thrilled by Labor’s efforts to even more explicitly tie Democrats to OWS. Lol.
Lawdawg86 on November 18, 2011 at 5:56 PM
The OWS is not “over” until Obama wins in 2012.If he doesn’t win…it will intensify.
This is what this has been about the whole time and is no different than the “anti-war” protests that went away as soon as a democrat started running the war machine.
democrats need anger and hate to get their base energized.Does not matter what the issue is as long as they can demonize their political opponents and get their base to fall for it.

Answer: Tea partiers should remain as far away from the “occupy” movement as is humanly possible. Associating with lunatics does not bode well for one’s personal sanity. Besides, just who do you think would be blamed for all the ensuing crime? That fringe Tea Party hangers-on, that’s who.
BKeyser on November 18, 2011 at 5:59 PM
You have something of a rapier wit there yourself Allah.
One problem as we saw in Madison is that the unions themselves are not exactly the soul of self-restraint.
Any violence between the two groups will be blamed on the Tea Party and anything the Occupy group does will be broadly painted as the fault of ‘protesters’ in general.
sharrukin on November 18, 2011 at 5:59 PM

What an absolute moron.
The GOP not wanting to raise taxes is not the reason we are not creating jobs.Massive regulations,Obamacare, higher taxes, uncertainty in the economy, agencies like the EPA pushing their activist, job killing agenda, and a President that puts politics above country are some of the main reasons we don’t have jobs.
Genius here might want to address the fact that the GOP agreed to 800 billion in tax increases before the debt deal and has also agreed to 300 billion with the Super Committee. The GOP has also passed many job bills that the democrats refuse to even vote on.
These liberal talking points are so pathetic that even the Obama friendly press is going to have a hard time parroting them.
Baxter Greene on November 18, 2011 at 6:04 PM
The day OWS started Obama was at 44% at RCP. Today he’s at 43.6%. 2 months of OWS riots hasn’t helped him at all. I guess he’ll double down on nothing.

That’s what the real OWS organizers have been hoping for – civil war. The TEA party folks have been very wise to recognize that the OWS’ers are lunatics and not engage them. Arguing with a lunatic either makes you look like a loon or gets you beat up or worse.
The Union through the OWS’er’s are trying to re-enact the Bonus March of the late 20′s. But they forget the result was a giant Hoover-ville on the White house lawn.
Best for the TEA party to stay out of it – in the end the Union and the OWS’ers will attack each other once the OWS’ers realize that they are just cannon fodder.

Can anyone tell me just what it is about Mr. President’s “jobs bill” that would ensure jobs would be created? I was under the impression no one from either party gave his bill much consideration. If it was all that, Dirty Harry would have pulled some sort of trickery from his magic bag and forced it through…for the good of the people, of course.

The Big Lie (revealing the big truth) at the center of everything. The reason for all this is another stimulus before the elections. Which, as we know, has nothing to do with “jobs.” If they get it, great, if they don’t, they can demagogue it. These people are vicious and relentless.
Will the GOP rise to the occasion and finally challenge these lying maniacs? Sure they will.

War Protestors Camp Out At Pelosi’s S.F. Home
Monday, March 12, 2007
**********************
Mar. 12 – KGO (KGO) — Several war protestors are camping out this morning in front of the San Francisco home of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.
They’re trying to convince Pelosi to spearhead legislation to cut off war funding and bring the troops home now.
Lelsie Angeline, Code Pink: “We’re here to occupy her house, to show here what it feels like to be occupied.”
They are calling it Camp Pelosi. Members of Code Pink are sleeping just steps away from the speaker’s front door, all of them hoping she will wake-up this morning and meet their demands.
Toby, Code Pink: “What we really want is to be a leader and end this war.”
Their fight began Sunday afternoon with a march from the Golden Gate Bridge to Nancy Pelosi’s Pacific Heights home.
After reading the names of every California service member killed in Iraq, protesters began calling out Pelosi’s name, calling for her to spearhead legislation to bring the troops home now.
Celeste Durrum, Code Pink: “We’ve heard a lot of talk from the Democratic party. Now, they have the power and we expect them to walk their talk.”
(More………………….)

…Yes of course….worrying about deficits and debt is “misguided” because we all know what a smashing success countries are that have a 100% debt to GDP ratio.
Going to love watching these liberals stand out in front of the capital yelling “there is no debt..we are not broke” while the supposed economic geniuses like Krugman cheer them on.

What could go wrong…?
Seven Percent Solution on November 18, 2011 at 7:20 PM
Good grief:
—All summer, Obama and the Dems insisted on those tax increases on the rich to pay down the debt.
—Then, just 2 weeks after they reached their faux debt-ceiling deal, Obama proposed using those very same tax increases to pay for his so-called jobs program. I.e., he would spend any new revenues.
—Now that the super committee appears to be failing, the insinuation is once again that, if only the GOP would agree to those (same) tax increases on the rich, then they could use the revenue to pay down the debt.
—But in a couple of weeks, the unions are going to Capitol Hill to demand the GOP get on board with tax increases on the rich so they can use the money to pay for Obama’s jobs program!
Am I the only one getting whiplash over the intended use of these new revenues? (We all know they’ll never NOT spend the money).
Why don’t Republicans point this out?

Except I don’t think anyone planned on shots being shot into the White House.
They should give it a shot and Occupy Congress. They will find out that are legislators are hardly ever there, especially over the holidays.
If someone brings a baby to a protest, the police should hand the children over to child welfare, and let those people go to court and explain their behavior of putting a child in a potentially dangerous position.
