Matthews on why Republicans haven’t settled on a candidate yet: “Hate”

posted at 8:05 pm on November 15, 2011 by Allahpundit

Via News Busters, we need a palate cleanser and this is way, way too vintage an example of self-parody for me to ignore. Answering a question about the GOP with “hate” is never a bad idea at MSNBC, but couldn’t he at least have saved his rant about know-nothings and inexperience for a moment when Newt Gingrich, of all people, isn’t on the brink of becoming the frontrunner? It’s not “hate” that’s making the field chaotic, it’s ambivalence in deciding between an electable yet slippery guy from Massachusetts whom no one much likes or trusts and some less electable alternative who might gratify the base’s ideological id. Which is to say, it’s a lot like the Democrats’ dilemma was in 2004. And what plane of reality does Matthews inhabit where GOP voters are “not in the mood to fall in love with a candidate”? That’s exactly what they’re in the mood for. The Palin fans worship Palin, the Cain fans adore Cain, and pretty much everyone was ready to hug Perry when he jumped in and looked like he’d be the Romney-killer. It’s only because they’ve had their hearts broken over and over that they’re now wearily taking a second look at Gingrich. Good lord.

By the way, since when does Tingles much care about “respecting experience” and demanding “some knowledge of how you lead a government”? It wasn’t Obama’s executive kung fu that sent thrills up his leg.

It is time for these candidates to band together and BOYCOTT the NBC/Politico debates at the Reagan Library. A disgrace those liberals have wormed their way into Reagan’s library and a bigger disgrace the GOP legitimizes their infiltration.

Sometimes I think that Matthews is vying to be a modern day Goebbels. And no; I am not calling him a Nazi nor anything like it. But I am referring to his continuing efforts to slur, attack and dehumanize those with whom he disagrees. Matthews rarely seems to deal with the ideas and arguments of others; instead he does his best to make them appear less than human.

Haters!!!

They are the enemy, like Hitler was. I was by no means accusing Hitler of being anywhere near the threat to the United States that today’s Democrat Party is…if that was your concern. I don’t think Hitler had anything like the firmly fixed hatred of the United States, it’s history and culture, that Obama has, for instance.

Hate is a strong emotion, much maligned, but sometimes it is an appropriate response. It is right and proper, for example, to hate injustice and those who perpetrate it. Hating predatory pedophile child rapists like good old Coach Sandusky? Perfectly okay. Communists, Nazis, Islamic extremists and other totalitarian types who would enslave and murder the world if they could? Oh, yes.

So no, I don’t mind being called a hater. Whether that label is a good or a bad thing depends on the object.

Allah, what a perfect encapsulation of the Republican political spectrum of the moment. Just because our dreams are crashing around our shoulders doesn’t mean we’ve completely lost hope, right? Right? Ha ha. Actually, I’m cautiously enthusiastic about Newt. Just seeing him annihilate Obawesome at one or two future debates would cover the cost of admission as far as I’m concerned.

cynccook on November 15, 2011 at 10:00 PM

I don’t even want to listen to the clip.

You have to wonder.. if this was like 1938 and we were all living in the beginning of Nazi Germany.. whose side would these freaks be on?
It doesn’t take much effort to to figure it out.

This is one reason I do like what Newt is doing.. he confronts these idiots! You have to.. they are on the Democrats side. They are not journalists. They are the propaganda arm of the Democrats and when you answer their questions.. they do not want to hear the truth.. they want to hide it!

That is the business and purpose of most of the mainstream media today. Hide the truth. Hide the facts. That is their purpose. To distort, deceive and to hide the truth and the facts.

JellyToast on November 15, 2011 at 10:03 PM

I think if the absurd liberals obtained enough power in this country they would try to pass a law against “hate” where they, of course, would be the judge of what constitute hatred against, not just people or groups, but anything. That emotion seems to disturb their appy-hearted disposition.

Personally, I think hate is a perfectly valid (morally) emotion when directed toward evils. I hate the corruption of the Obama Administration and of the our Congress (latest hateful stuff and this )

I hate the Fast & Furious lies, I hate a lot of things.

I especially hate the deeply immoral behavior of all the powerful people who willfully allowed the 2008 economic crash that is explained in the Financial Crisis Inquiry Commission Report largely ignored.

Hate is the strongest emotion possible (love is only second in comparison) and of course the most dangerous, but the most energizing (which is why Islamists so often provoke it). Indeed, I think good people should hate hateful things vigorously.

What Mathews doesn’t understand is conservatives’ natural repulsion with government.

Of course conservatives are going to view their political candidates differently than liberals, who see their candidates as substitutes for parents, gods, … whomever they want to take care of them.

Plus, he’s a hate-filled retard.

jaime on November 15, 2011 at 10:41 PM

There was a time, many years ago, when I actually liked to watch Matthews. I knew he was liberal, but I also thought he was a political junkie who loved the politics of a situation more than anything. Well, either he’s changed or I was completely wrong, although it makes little difference.

I can’t believe this moron still has a job. If it weren’t for MSNBC, no one else would have him. I haven’t seen a rational thought come out of his head in ages so, aside from preaching to the choir, what is his purpose. RILEY (John Wood): Well, now, you see, I regard the soul as an essentially feminine accessory. Anima. Quite different from animus, the male variant. This is how I explain the otherwise puzzling difference between the sexes. Where men have intellect, women have soul.

JOY (Debra Winger): Professor Riley, as you say, I’m from the United States, and different cultures have different modes of discourse. I need a little guidance here. Are you trying to be offensive, or merely stupid?
