posted at 10:00 am on November 6, 2011 by Ed Morrissey

Time once again to do the math and figure out the Obamateurism of the Week!  Feel free to rely on yourself to make the choice, and don’t be shy about promoting your effort in the comments.  Once you’ve clicked on “submit” you’ve made your choice for better or worse, so raise your hand if you feel clueless … again.

Previous 2011 “winners”:

Got an Obamateurism of the Day? If you see a foul-up by Barack Obama, e-mail it to me at obamaisms@edmorrissey.com with the quote and the link to the Obamateurism. I’ll post the best Obamateurisms on a daily basis, depending on how many I receive. Include a link to your blog, and I’ll give some link love as well. And unlike Slate, I promise to end the feature when Barack Obama leaves office.

self reliance, it speaks volumes about this admin.

had to go with the picture

the rest are all lies

Ditkaca on November 6, 2011 at 10:04 AM

Says we’re better off with him a month after saying we’re not better off at all.

He can get away with that by adding, “Just think how much worse it would be if Republicans were in control”.

listens2glenn on November 6, 2011 at 10:06 AM

Can’t believe the stupid picture’s already winning again when there are some actual substantive goof-ups up there. But hey, it’s still early on.

NukeRidingCowboy on November 6, 2011 at 10:06 AM

Had to go with no internet access on TOTUS.
A.K.A, All of the above.

Electrongod on November 6, 2011 at 10:08 AM

The fact that you have 5 strong contenders week in and week out says it all.

cartooner on November 6, 2011 at 10:08 AM

Are you better off now than before Obama took office?

Obama is.

For life.

profitsbeard on November 6, 2011 at 10:08 AM

What was the Obamateurism of the Week

So, it’s not the OOTD? You must have that Ravens/Steelers game figured out already. :)

Rovin on November 6, 2011 at 10:08 AM

HOLLA YO! nothing like the leader of the free world giving a high 5 for a pic. He should stick to NCAA brackets…oh wait

NY Conservative on November 6, 2011 at 10:09 AM

The picture merely shows what a slow learner we have for a president.

Oleta on November 6, 2011 at 10:09 AM

I’m at a loss to pick just one this week. Cripes, this president certainly provides plenty of options ever single week. I’ll say one thing for Obama…he’s not boring.

The horror of self-reliance

.
Please, please, Mister Ø, don’t throw me in the Self-Reliant Briarpatch!

ExpressoBold on November 6, 2011 at 10:11 AM

I went with the books, but they were all good contenders. The closeness of the votes so far among the last four shows just what a week the man who never learns had.

backwoods conservative on November 6, 2011 at 10:12 AM

The horror of self-reliance? I thought that self-reliance was a goal, not a flaw.

Cindy Munford on November 6, 2011 at 10:12 AM

The horror of self-reliance

If I lose America will go back to being America.

Giving away his books is probable the best means of distribution. In this economy who can afford to buy one? Of course they’re never going to be read until it becomes required reading to graduate.

He also makes the phrase President Biden sound like a good alternative.

Tommy_G on November 6, 2011 at 10:15 AM

Fun with numbers!

BallisticBob on November 6, 2011 at 10:15 AM

Sorry….had to go with the Hand……it just goes to show that you can’t teach a middle-aged marxist new tricks.

What a maroon.

Tim_CA on November 6, 2011 at 10:19 AM

Ed, this is off topic, but there is a sixteen year old girl who has been missing from the occupy protests. She has been missing for a week. I checked the center for missing and exploited children and do not see her name listed. Do you think this could be another thing that is being handled “internally”?

Another talk to the hand pic? President Zero needs to ride the short Canadian campaign bus.

I voted for self-reliance. Liberals don’t want that to gain popularity. It would destroy them.

Philly on November 6, 2011 at 10:22 AM

The Books. Just another glimpse into the love affair bo has with himself and pushes to everyone. He will get a bigger NO Sale next year than he anticipates and he may need an intervention from Dr. Phil.

tim c on November 6, 2011 at 10:22 AM

Tommy_G on November 6, 2011 at 10:15 AM

Yep…and that’s scary.

JetBoy on November 6, 2011 at 10:22 AM

One, two and five were arrogance at work.

Three was the religion of Socialism being proselytised.

Four showed that he cannot get his story straight – the mark of an amateur.

NukeRidingCowboy on November 6, 2011 at 10:06 AM

I could not agree more. I object to its inclusion at all. It is just a smear. Obviously this snap was taken before the formal alignment of the subjects. (See the other folks as they look away, they weren’t ready either.)

I still despise the lying poser.

FOWG1 on November 6, 2011 at 10:26 AM

The horrors of self-reliance, a classic gaffe that reveals yet again the universe he inhabits.

As to his campaign promises, I’d be pleased if his accomplishments were at an even lower percentage, 0% for example.

That is really troubling. I’ll pray for her safe return.

katy the mean old lady on November 6, 2011 at 10:31 AM

I know a picture is worth a thousand words, but what about $70,000 worth of fiction?

texabama on November 6, 2011 at 10:31 AM

The weakest week of Obamateurisms ever. Of course, this would be a catastrophic week for any other president.

Sowell Disciple on November 6, 2011 at 10:37 AM

The horror of self-reliance. It speaks volumes about the core belief of the Marxist in Chief and his cronies, providing a window into their view of the mold into which they want to cast the USA. That they are able to exploit the profits of the existing system in order to bring about their new world order is a travesty in itself.

AZfederalist on November 6, 2011 at 10:38 AM

Had to go with the $70,000 on Obama books… How much of that was a royalty paid to PBHO??

Khun Joe on November 6, 2011 at 10:38 AM

Self reliance. It is one of the basis of our society.

csdeven on November 6, 2011 at 10:41 AM

LOL ! This time it is certifiable Obama lap dog, Manmohan Singh (our beloved “PM” from India) who gets the Obama In Your Face (TM) treatment.

Thanks HA, we will never get to see this faux pas in any Indian newspaper where obama is nothing less than venerated.

What is the 80%…60%.. actually its “only” 39% nonsense any ways ? Guess he talking about how “low” the top income tax bracket is… this is like saying ,”Look you may have gotten your eyes gouged out but you are still alive.”

The US is truly having a national malaise that is far worse than anything felt during the days of Jimmah – it is a truly scary thought that this clown has a very good shot of getting re-elected.

nagee76 on November 6, 2011 at 10:43 AM

I think, “self reliance” is one of the stupidest things this man has ever said.

NoamSayin on November 6, 2011 at 11:06 AM

went with the books but all were worth a vote…

OmahaConservative on November 6, 2011 at 11:12 AM

Obamaturism of the week was his failure to make grand politics out of the (most populated) NE power outages and he could be taken down for this in election ads as in, “Bush may have failed to stop Katrina” but Obama deserted southern New England!”

Don L on November 6, 2011 at 11:44 AM

I picked the last one. Doesn’t he ever learn that you do not wave and obscure the faces of others in formal pictures — especially political VIPs? You’d think that point was well rubbed in — but I guess he’s above all that.

hachiban on November 6, 2011 at 12:11 PM

oooh close votes!!!

ted c on November 6, 2011 at 12:23 PM

I needed Lord Obama to help me with my choice.. Couldn’t do it, on my own.

The U.S., and the world, s/b ashamed for making the Obamas so, based on absolutely nada.

Schadenfreude on November 6, 2011 at 12:29 PM

ONE YEAR UNTIL OBAMA IS VOTED OUT OF OFFICE. I am celebrating with a round of capitalism!!!

Mutnodjmet on November 6, 2011 at 12:36 PM

I went with forcing the taxpayers to purchase HIS book. If he really wants to sell a few more copies, he should hold one up during the next photo op instead of his hand. I doubt too many found it funny the second time (or the first time since it’s so 1st grade).

Mutnodjmet on November 6, 2011 at 12:36 PM

got a real laugh with your “goddess of capitalism” pic.

katablog.com on November 6, 2011 at 12:38 PM

Good, strong choices all. I might have gone with the self-reliance thing or the books, but I chose the picture because what is up with that behavior? Does he think we won’t be able to find him in the photo?? As Prez of the US, he’ll be put in the center of any group shot he’s in. You’d think that would be enough.

SukieTawdry on November 6, 2011 at 12:41 PM

Yes, the horrors of self-reliance! Just saw Rudy’s comment from last night “Have you ever considered occupying a job?”

what about: bégaiement clusterf**k d’un échec lamentable commet un faux pas idiote by making fun of Sarkozy’s looks?

joeindc44 on November 6, 2011 at 1:17 PM

A picture is worth a thousand TOTUS read but still mis-pronounced words…
-
Especially since Merkel and Sarkozy look like they are about to go into full giggles over this Bafoon’s stupidity…

dude. Ed, is there one vote separating 1 and 2? dang—a nailbiter.
