Webb on campaigning for Obama: We’ll see

Will retiring one-term Senator Jim Webb campaign for Tim Kaine as his potential replacement? In an interview with ABC’s Jonathan Karl, Webb can hardly wait, calling Kaine “one of the finest people” with whom Webb has worked in politics. How about his party’s leader, Barack Obama? Er … not so much:

Democratic Sen. Jim Webb hesitates when asked if he’s going to campaign for President Obama next year.

“Are you going to be campaigning for President Obama?,” ABC’s Jonathan Karl asked the senator from Virginia in the latest installment of the “Subway Series.”

“We’ll see what that looks like next year,” said Webb.

“But you won’t say you will, at this point,” said Karl.

“I’m not saying that I won’t,” said Webb, later adding, “I’m saying I’ve been out there all this year for state races. I’m a Democrat.”

This comes at the end of the interview, so be sure to watch it all the way through.  Afterward, Webb contacted ABC to “clarify that he supports President Obama,” but it’s clear from his reaction that Webb is far from enthusiastic about that support.

Webb also seems to avoid endorsing the Democratic push to cut more of the Pentagon’s budget, at least not without seriously rethinking America’s global mission.  If we want smaller ground forces in the Army and Marine Corps, Webb says, we can find money to cut.  Otherwise, he’s not leaping at the chance to endorse a Pentagon budget haircut.

Back to Webb’s show of confidence in Obama: If a retiring incumbent in a purple state wants Obama at arms’ length, imagine what that means for those incumbents running for re-election.

After the second stop, I had to stop watching. I found that I was not paying attention to what he was saying.

All I could think of is that this is what our Congressmen do when they get bored of smiling and kiss some bankers ass.

They play on the kiddie train in the basement.

Toys in the attic is childs play compared to the train set Uncle Sam got them for Christmas.

I don’t blame him for not wanting to get Obowma’s stink all over him…

… Even when you leave office, that sh%t just doesn’t wash off.

He’ll cave.

If he’s going to campaign for Kaine, who’s only slightly brighter than Debbie Wasserman-Schnitzel, he’ll campaign for anyone.

Besides, like he said, he’s a Democrat.

I appreciate his service to our country.

How Webb squares going from Democrat to Republican, and back to Democrat is anyone’s guess.

I don’t like Kaine in the least. I hope George Allen beats him like a rented mule.

Oh, Jim Webb, you really are a little baby. Quitting the Senate because you know you’re not going to win re-election. Way to man up!

Like his fellow Virgina senator, Mark Warner, both are Democrat’s first and senators for the people of the Commonwealth of Virginia 2nd (maybe 3rd or 4th).

The W’s of Virginia have been joined at the hip with the Siamese Twins, Barack Obama and Harry Reid, since they took office. They vote in lock step with them each and every time. Oh, did I mention that they both ran as “moderates” when campaigning?

The Democrats have soured me so much that if a candidate is running for local office, even that of dog-catcher, if they have a D after their name, they won’t get my vote.

LMAO!

Our Jug-Eared leader has become positively radioactive – and it’s only going to get worse as the election looms closer.

55 gal drum of popcorn please – watch ‘em tie themselves in knots!

He’s got some ideas for a few porn novels. Needs to get a way from the noisy offices and train sounds so he can write.

It boggles the mind that Webb is all of a sudden going to campaign with Kaine. Both of them have been on the Obama train since the beginning. Webb voted for every last bill that Obama wanted and signed. It’s too late to play coy now. His political career is over and so is Warner’s for the same reason.
