Palin reminds Occupy protesters: Obama gives the fat cats their cat nip

posted at 6:10 pm on November 4, 2011 by Tina Korbe

Yesterday, in a speech to Florida Republican donors, Sarah Palin called out the connection between Big Government and Big Business and echoed Herman Cain’s admonition to Occupy Wall Street to occupy Washington instead. But, with typical Palin flair, she said it all in a descriptive, easy-to-remember way:

“They say, ‘Wall Street fat cats got a bailout so now I want one too,’” Palin said. “And the correct answer is no one is entitled to a bailout.”

Palin said that rather than bailouts, “The American dream — our foundation — is about work ethic and empowerment, not entitlement.”

“Barack Obama is owned by Wall Street,” she said. “The fat cats, as he calls them, they’re his friends. They’re his pals. That’s where he gets his campaign donations. And he’s very generous about giving these cats their cat nip: bigger returns on their investments in bailouts.”

Little to add to that. As conservatives have said pretty much from the minute the Days of Rage first broke out, if the Occupy Wall Street movement seriously wants to eliminate crony capitalism, the protesters will have to advocate for a smaller, less powerful federal government, too.

That’s a big difference. And poking Jugears is just almost a loyalty test nowadays.

She set the loyalty test and continues to hammer him like no other.

CTSherman on November 4, 2011 at 9:52 PM

So when she made her announcement, to the heathen world it was just that she wasn’t getting in. To the true believer world, she was already in so she quit. Again.

Now you can pretend that doesn’t matter but some guy who’s running for a seat in Bumfrick, Middle America, it may not play very well to have pics with her holding hands with you available for the opposition to run ads entitled Birds of a feather …

That’s what I’m talking about. And it’s real whether anybody wants to admit it or not.

platypus on November 4, 2011 at 8:04 PM

I think you’re 180 degrees wrong. I believe only the “true believers” will be furious that she decided not to run. The rest will see it as a positive or negative based purely on how they already felt about Palin.

If Palin does nothing more than help get conservatives elected to Congress in 2012, she may be playing the single most important role in the election. Certainly, if we get stuck with Kendoll Romney the wondersquish as a nominee, we’ll be lucky to even win the presidency. With either Obama or Romney as president, saving the country will depend almost entirely on having a conservative enough Congress to counteract the presidency.

This.

We need the inspiration she brought. Hell, she created “Palinistas” here at HA. No matter what she does now, sadly, this notwithstanding, some of us feel a lot less enthusiasm and optimism. I, for one, had little optimism and with the demise of enthusiasm have “Gone Galt”.

AS a believer I can say I trust Sarah Palin’s judgement. She knew that, if she ran this time, the press would do to her what they did to Herman Cain, only worse. She already went through one campaign where she was fighting a press war along with an election war and she was only running as VP. In a way, the press won on this one. Have you noticed there haven’t been any stories about Bristol in Hollywood lately? Have you noticed the National Inquirer isn’t printing any stories about the Palin’s getting a divorce lately. I believe those were shots across the bow, just to let her know that it could get a lot worse.

In the mode she’s in now, the press has a lot less control over her. They can print stories but they still have to concentrate on getting Obama re-elected so they have to really go after other Republicans that can get a vote.

I like Sarah Palin, believe she could have won the election against Obama and respect her decision not to run. Period.

platypus on November 4, 2011 at 6:30 PM

Fine.

Just because she isn’t running, doesn’t mean she can’t be effective.

Just because she gives a good speech and people recognize that, doesn’t mean they don’t understand that she’s changed the political alchemy of her presence or whatever.

Political influence is not a zero-sum game.

Missy on November 4, 2011 at 11:43 PM

Or as I put it on a leftist blog recently:

Both the Tea Party movement and the OWS people agree that that crony capitalism is ruining the country. Where they differ is that the OWS folks think the way to solve the problem is to try to convince the people who are benefiting the most by creating and playing by the rules to change the rules so that they will not benefit as much. The Tea Party movement seeks to get rid of those people entirely and replace them, and to reduce the power of the Federal government so that it can’t set the rules in the first place. The theory there is that the Federal government cannot sell something that it does not have in the first place.

I fear there’s only one solution…and it’ll result in this type of split.

Three novels by Mathew Bracken cover it pretty well.

She could have beaten the msm and Zero, but running against the gop establishment would have been too much to overcome. The gang built Perry up and brought him in to keep her out. After the mission was accomplished, they let him go and he’s toast. Won’t be too long before he goes back to his TX gig. It’s all a big game with these people. They don’t give a rat’s patootie about the country or us. Tea power needs to get rid of the whole bunch.

But, with typical Palin flair, she said it all in a descriptive, easy-to-remember way:

Now you come up with the flowery prose and nice posts. When there was still time to put a campaign together it was all snarky leftist posts and “she is not electable comments”.

Seems like I’ve been trying to make this point for a couple years, now.

She’s already been doing this since 2009, and I believe successfully, NO MATTER HAPPENED IN THE NV SENATE RACE.(the Rep Party sure blew that one)

Smaller, less powerful government is the ONLY answer to save the American Dream.

Bless you for stating my heart. I cried in 2009 about the ordeal she would suffer, mentally comparing it to Christ on the Cross, if she ran.
As I am disappointed, I am also relieved. I could not suffer the onslaught that would have faced her, so I cannot ask her to do so.

At the cost, high, of any chance to save our Republic and the Rule of Law.

So I’ll cry in my beer in my bunker, and watch history repeat itself.

Palin doing what she does best which is tweaking Zero and the White House far better than Sleepy Boehner or Where’s Waldo? McConnell ever could… and she does it while fundraising and motivating Conservatives in key states… and she does it mostly on her own dime, of her own volition and without kissing up to Beltway elitists. Nasty establishment Karl Rove could learn a lot from her!
