Obama: God wants Congress to pass my jobs bill
posted at 5:00 pm on November 2, 2011 by Tina Korbe
The president has no patience for the House of Representatives these days. Never mind that Republicans in the House have passed 15 different jobs bills or that the Republican Study Committee today unveiled a new job creation program. Did you hear they took time to pass a non-binding resolution to remind Americans of the nation’s official motto? (That would be “In God We Trust,” by the way.)
Don’t mistake Barack Obama: He trusts in God. He just doesn’t want the House to take a single minute to address any topic other than his jobs proposal. Why? Because that’s what he God wants.
The Washington Times reports:
Urging Congress again to pass a portion of his jobs bill, President Obama claimed Wednesday that God is on his side.
Mr. Obama was standing at the D.C. side of the Key Bridge, calling attention to America’s crumbling infrastructure and the need to put more construction workers back on the job. He criticized House Republicans for ignoring his legislation while approving a measure that reaffirms “In God We Trust” as the national motto.
“That’s not putting people back to work,” Mr. Obama said. “I trust in God, but God wants to see us help ourselves by putting people back to work.”
It’s hard not to ever-so-slightly suspect that, in Obama’s mind, God’s will ought to conform to his and not the other way around … but I’m trying very hard to banish that suspicion. Humility might not be Obama’s strong suit, but surely not even he is that arrogant.
At the daily press briefing, when a reporter asked Jay Carney whether Obama’s invocation of God might not have been a bit much, the press secretary defended it with this: “I believe the phrase from the Bible is ‘The Lord helps those who help themselves.’” Not so, Mr. Carney, not so. Nowhere in the Bible does that adage make its appearance.
What’s so disappointing about this entire episode is the way the one piece of feel-good bipartisan legislation to pass the House in ages has been drafted into the partisan circus of the president. Sure, electorally speaking, jobs legislation is more important even than any kind of faithful or patriotic display. But, spiritually speaking, it comes as a welcome relief to this American, at least, to remember that, while politicians repeatedly prove themselves unworthy of trust, the God of our fathers has always been and will always be trustworthy.

Who wrote the speech? Or are you just praising the messenger?

Connect the dots: journolist meeting by invitation only at the White House on, what Tuesday?, “big”speech by Obama on Thursday, lame stream media fawning over speech on Friday. Who would have seen that coming, huh?

They need the “war on terror” in order to further erode our Constitutional freedoms and to deflect criticism from the administration’s and Federal government’s ongoing corruption.
They are just trying to massage it so that they don’t offend the Muslims, international Libtards and their own sensibilities anymore than necessary.
A few Muslim terrorists here and there are quite expendable to this Administration despite their sympathies for them. These drone attacks also do much deflect any potential criticism that the Administration is weak in dealing with such matters.

MSNBC is nothing but a left wing propaganda machine serving their master, Obama.

I believe that he was officially nominated 10 days after he was sworn in. Wow! The WON really worked long hours that week and a half to earn that POS medal. During those ten days he ordered NO DRONE STRIKES to keep his peaceful record clean.

Obama: Don’t worry about that Ben Ghazi guy. I killed Bin Laden, and Bush didn’t!
And Obummer still wants to close Gitmo? Good luck with that–not even Upchuck Schumer was willing to hold trials in New York!

They just changed the definition of terrorist. They used to be jihadis from the Middle East–now they’re Minutemen in Arizona and Tea Partiers in Ohio.

Erika, sometimes your writing shows signs of rivaling even the Master of Snark himself, Allahpundit. Good work!

I love how crazy Al invoked the Nobel Peace Prize in praise of a speech that spoke about dropping bombs on people’s head. Maybe it was the “fewer” bombs than before that raised this to historic levels.
Do they even know or care that they are morons.

His speech made less sense than Bluto’s Animal House Speech and was far less entertaining. Nothing less than base rallying time. Never thought I would say this, but Code Pink was the best part.

Sperling posted this at the Examiner on May 23 about this “historic speech of Obysmal’s:
You see, we are just not working hard enough to “work with the Muslim American community” who are a “fundamental part of the American family.” Watch out, too, because Obysmal is again trying to limit the impact of the Internet.

Obama apparently gave two speeches yesterday and I watched the other one.

Nah. I’d detest the little pissant s.o.b. if he was white…or Asian…or any one of the myriad of made-up racial divisions.
