Fun: Peter Schiff confronts Occupy Wall Street protesters

posted at 4:05 pm on October 26, 2011 by Allahpundit

Via MRC TV, enjoy as a card-carrying one-percenter braves the Tupperware containers filled with urine at Zuccotti Park to pose the timeless question, “I’m employing 150 people. How many people do you employ?”

Actually, according to Fox News’s piece today about ACORN’s hand in organizing OWS marches and fundraising, the revolution employs quite a few people:

Sources said NYCC [the group formerly known as New York's chapter of ACORN] has hired about 100 former ACORN-affiliated staff members from other cities – paying some of them $100 a day – to attend and support Occupy Wall Street. Dozens of New York homeless people recruited from shelters are also being paid to support the protests, at the rate of $10 an hour, the sources said…

Multiple sources said NYCC is also using cash donations through canvassing efforts in New York’s Harlem and Washington Heights neighborhoods for union-backed campaigns to fund the Wall Street protests…

“They give contributions because we say if they do we can fix things – whatever specific problem they’re having in their area, housing, schools, whatever … then we spend the contributions paying staff to be at the protests all day, every day. That’s where these contributions – the community’s money – is going,” the source said.

They’re doing the same stuff now that got ACORN in trouble to begin with. And yes, we’re still ACORN, there is a still a national ACORN.”

One woman who was recruited from a homeless shelter to protest and then canvass as part of a campaign ostensibly aimed at home foreclosures told Fox, “I get the money and then the money is being used for Occupy Wall Street—to pay for all of it, for supplies, food, transportation, salaries, for everything … all that money is going to pay for the protests downtown and that’s just messed up. It’s just wrong.” So in case you were wondering how they can afford the new Port-a-Potties, there you go. The bad news: Per Fox’s sources, unwitting people are being duped into chipping in under false pretenses. The good news: The era of Tupperware containers filled with urine might soon, mercifully, be over.

Exit quotation: “They’re telling people who leave prison to go to Zuccotti Park.”

I’m sure they all do, but she’s stuck on half a talking point. I bet she’s an NYC public school teacher or something.

MeatHeadinCA on October 26, 2011 at 5:42 PM

I spent 2 years as a student in the NYC Public School system in the late 1960s. It was just before the teachers started to go Left, which started with their Great Teacher’s Strikes of 1967 and 1968. Until then, many of them actually cared about their teaching, and none of them ever tried to brainwash or indoctrinate us kids. How times have changed…

Anyone remember NYC’s Albert Shanker? After his death, he was rewarded for leading those 2 illegal teachers’ strikes by President Bill Clinton, who gave him the Presidential Medal of Freedom. This despite his reputation over the years as being a racist (see “Ocean Hill-Brownsville, 1968″)

Del Dolemonte on October 26, 2011 at 5:56 PM

What a brave man. Good on him. We need more like him to speak up, dispell the myths, and put those idiots in their place.

Hysterical, fat, lazy and stupid is no way to go through life lady.

crash72 on October 26, 2011 at 6:00 PM

I’ve never seen Schiff have so much fun.

He was actually enjoying making fun of their silly ideas.

I wonder of any of them actually got it or have they adopted Bush tax cut talking points so thoroughly they can’t hear anything else.

Last time the Dems had a whack at repealing them they had their asses handed to them.

Lonetown on October 26, 2011 at 6:03 PM

LOL ernesto.

How is employing 150 people screwing them? Would you rather the 150 be unemployed if it meant that Schiff was less rich?

The people screwing others (or trying) are the protesters trying to screw the employers.

They stupidly don’t realize, or care, that the only people they’ll be screwing with their policies are those who work for the employers.

The Dive

For some reason, the four on Fox seem to have a problem telling the fat slob Bob the difference between Tea Party people and the ows scum

Well, why don’t they offer to send a couple of Bob’s female relations or kids to the environs of ows to hang out for a day or two and then see if fatso can see the difference between crack heads and eccentrics who emote at town meetings because they are worried about the future of the nation.

Bob needs a shrink to resolve the issues of his addictive personality and bumping his thick skull in men’s room fights.

Respecting the poor and some lefty rights is one thing, Bob, confusing crackheads who belong in cages with people with enunciated problems, however loud they may become at precious democratic controlled meetings,is another whole mission.

IlikedAUH2O on October 26, 2011 at 6:09 PM

We are loosing the narrative…

… Just like in the financial collapse, the Democrats did everything to shift the blame away from them and their social engineering policies.

When it was all over, they had the House, Senate, and Presidency in 2008, and blamed the Republicans…

… Now, after Trillions in spending, Marxist/socialist policies, endless regulation, Frank/Dodd, Obowmacare, the bailouts, Solyndra et al., oil moratorium, and Obowma getting just about everything he has wanted while organizing the protests, the meme is that the 1% isn’t paying their fare share.

Somehow, someway, the TRUTH has to be shouted 24/7/365 to drown out these protests…

… and put the blame squarely where it belongs.

And just what does employing 150 people have to do with monied interests dominating politics? Is he saying that he ought to have more of a say in policy than the people he employs?

Right, cause the OWS people are just on that rant and aren’t at all marching on right-winger millionaire homes that have nothing to do with monied interests in politics.

No surprise that you’re supporting them though.

That ten-second segment of that clip was one of the best “game, set, match” body slams that I have ever seen. The look on her face was so priceless when she realized that she had just beaten like a rented mule.

A cute, snide remark, but so what? Who’s to say he isn’t screwing those 150? What about employing people makes you noble and somehow incapable of screwing people over, or cheating on taxes, or anything else?

ernesto on October 26, 2011 at 4:45 PM

I’ve worked in companies of varying sizes; from 3 to 700 employees. Employers can’t “screw” all of their employees. All it takes is just one employee who finds a better gig elsewhere; that gets back to the company, and eats it like a cancer. Dissention; top quality people leave; company is gutted.

You just can’t get beyond tiny without a good crew, who want to work. Bosses who screw people can’t get there.

massrighty on October 26, 2011 at 7:39 PM

That woman must be a doppelganger of Elizabeth Warren. They have the same “intellectual” heft.

To bad AP didn’t link his “Peter Schiff was Right” youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2I0QN-FYkpw

Even worse the leftists that just consider him a tool for Republicans would have some serious cognitive dissonance watching him slam the “Bush economy” in 2006-2007 and predict the financial crisis while being mocked by pundits.

Rand Paul/Peter Schiff ’2016 would be a dream ticket..

Stop pretending that the OWS protest is just about “monied interests dominating politics.” It’s about class warfare and scapegoating this arbitrary so-called “1%” of Americans, most of whom aren’t filthy stinking rich and don’t work in the banking industry. In the video, Schiff was defending himself against Marxist scum who believe his property should be confiscated and redistributed. It’s so easy to understand if your head isn’t swimming with liberal BS.

Conservative Samizdat on October 27, 2011 at 1:04 AM

As a business owner I am against bailouts. Bailouts did not create a single job outside of the government. And the taxes/fees that need to be generated to pay for these new employees will cause inflation on every consumer good, while chipping our competitive edge in the world marketplace down even more; not even Americans can afford to buy American. THINK GREECE.

I’m against regulatory agencies and the idiots that believe they are necessary. One regulation says that our manufacturing facility needs to be lab tested for bacteria every six months. Fine. So, before we collect a sample to send out to the lab we shut down the line, clean the equipment so that it’s as clean as new, then send samples off to the lab. What did that prove? Another tax paid to the State, another price hike passed along to the end user. THINK INFLATION
On the other hand, given America’s litigious nature, if we sell tainted food, we harm our brand name and we’re out of business.

How many jobs did you government create? They created jobs on the backs of tax payers and consumers. I’ll take Wall Street style job creation over ballooning tyrannical government behemoths any day .

Stupid woman: “Well…I’m in the mortgage business…I wish I had 150 employees.”

Oh, my.

You mean you’re a predatory lender? The worst of the bad? The pirates who made Liar Loans and put people who no documentable income into sub-prime mortgages that adjusted upwards by 3 and 4% every six months? The Obama administration says you guys are all crooks. The State of Illinois developed an entire bureaucracy to remove you vermin from the industry.

That is just too rich for words.

Jaibones on October 27, 2011 at 8:00 AM

Nothing. He’s talking to a bunch of your fellow liberal nitwits who think his taxes should go up. What does that have to do with “moneyed interests”?

So interesting and revealing that your kneekjerk position is to presume the worst when you don’t have a single idea about the reality of the situation.

Say – who’s to say that you’re not a child molesting, drug-addled excrement-spewing miscreant?

Hit & run ernesto strikes again.
Say a bunch of stupid $hit, and never return.

LOL Ernie. He’s screwing them over by providing jobs to them. You’re right, their lives would be much better if Schiff DIDN’T employ them. What happened to you Ernie, you used to make at least some sense. Now, you’re just full on crazy moonbat.
