Quotes of the day

posted at 10:53 pm on October 10, 2011 by Allahpundit

“The reports are not good, disturbing even. I have heard basically the same story four times in the last 10 days, and the people doing the talking are in New York and Washington and are spread across the political spectrum.

“The gist is this: President Obama has become a lone wolf, a stranger to his own government. He talks mostly, and sometimes only, to friend and adviser Valerie Jarrett and to David Axelrod, his political strategist.

“Everybody else, including members of his Cabinet, have little face time with him except for brief meetings that serve as photo ops. Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton and Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner both have complained, according to people who have talked to them, that they are shut out of important decisions.

“The president’s workdays are said to end early, often at 4 p.m. He usually has dinner in the family residence with his wife and daughters, then retreats to a private office. One person said he takes a stack of briefing books. Others aren’t sure what he does.”

***

“Beyond the economy, the wars and the polls, President Obama has a problem: people.

“This president endures with little joy the small talk and back-slapping of retail politics, rarely spends more than a few minutes on a rope line, refuses to coddle even his biggest donors. His relationship with Democrats on Capitol Hill is frosty, to be generous. Personal lobbying on behalf of legislation? He prefers to leave that to Vice President Biden, an old-school political charmer.

“Obama’s circle of close advisers is as small as the cluster of personal friends that predates his presidency. There is no entourage, no Friends of Barack to explain or defend a politician who has confounded many supporters with his cool personality and penchant for compromise.

“Obama is, in short, a political loner who prefers policy over the people who make politics in this country work.”

***

“One veteran Democratic campaign operative put it more bluntly when asked to assess Obama’s approach: ‘He just hates politics and politicians.’…

“The question for Obama is whether the problem is fixable. The level of distrust is significant and long-held. And the timing couldn’t be worse.

“Obama needs the Senate to pass some semblance of the American Jobs Act in order to put pressure on House Republicans to act. But, the combination of the distrust directed at him and the reality — in the words of one senior Democrat — that Senators are ‘turning to their own races’ makes it a tough sell.

“Obama’s ‘a man apart’ image played a major role in his 2008 victory. It may well play an equally large role — in a bad way — in his 2012 re-election campaign.”

***

“Reid has been Obama’s most important ally in Congress, but the relationship has never been particularly affectionate, even though Reid was one of Obama’s first Senate colleagues to privately urge him to run for president.

“Obama and Reid speak frequently on the phone, but the conversations can be terse. One Democratic source quipped that it’s often a contest to guess who will hang up on the other first. Reid, as it turns out, doesn’t have a habit of saying goodbye when he ends a call…

“‘I think one of the problems with the White House is that it’s been too set apart. It’s been too Chicago-centric, and it needs to get out,’ said Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.). ‘Clinton didn’t just talk to four leaders, he picked up the phone and he kind of said, ‘I really need your vote on this.”…

“One Democratic aide, whose boss is facing reelection in a swing state, said of Obama: ‘There are no coattails.’”

***

“People facing adversity can be in one of two broad states. Those in the first case retain confidence in their basic ability to surmount problems because they’ve made a dent against them in the past. They’re in the game, even though the issue remains in the balance.

“But those in the second case are in a completely different situation. They realize they should never have been in the ring in the first place. They’ve lost confidence in being able to solve the problem because everything they’ve tried — in which they had supreme confidence — has backfired. And like a boxer who realizes that all of his moves are revealed by comparison to be clumsy and ineffective against an opponent who is hitting him at will, what succeeds wild optimism is simply forlorn hope: hope that he can last out the bout, the round or just the next flurry.

“Maybe that’s all the President has left. The hope he can edge over the finish line in 2012. He’s done the bus tour; done the joint session of Congress speech. Now he’s down to sending his Occupy demonstrators into Wall Street. If that doesn’t work what does he do next week when the polls fall further, when the clamor to investigate Solyndra and ‘Fast and Furious’ grow louder? What does he do when unemployment soars?

“The Wizard retires to his tower early each night and the lights stay on. But what can he conjure next? What power can he invoke? If he walks alone with only Jarrett and Axelrod to whisper in his ear, what could go wrong?”

After drinking a potion of Saul Alinsky, Jeremiah Wright, Karl Marx, Bill Ayers, Benito Mussolini, King George III, King Louis XVI and his own creation, Barack Obama is transformed into the cruel, remorseless, pathological, narcissistic, misanthropic, pyromaniac (clinical reference note #1) Herr Hussein, representing the hidden side of Obama’s dual nature brought to the fore. As Barry he has many friends and a pleasing personality, but as Herr Hussein he has become more and more fanatical, more and more dictatorial, more and more scape goating, makes ever longer enemies lists, encourages demonization and dehumanizing of political opponents and becomes ever more isolated and fascist like as time goes by as Herr Hussein grows in dominance. After taking this potion repetitively, he no longer needs to rely upon it to unleash his inner fascist demons.

Clinical reference note #1: Such individuals who lack ulterior motive have traditionally been referred to in layman’s terms simply as a variation of a pyromaniac. Most such maniacs lack conscious motivation although they are fully aware of the acts they are failing to stop or they themselves are committing. Typically they will feel intense pleasure, gratification, or relief when causing destruction or when witnessing or participating in the aftermath. Motivation is also classified as pathological and non-pathological. Some research suggests that feeling such joy at a horrific situation is pathological. Other research suggests that some motivation for this comes from rational thought. Taking joy in horrific situations for envisioned gains in political power and/or the concealment of the imposition of devious plans are examples of supposed rational decision making.

Any man who believes he is “We are the one the world has been waiting for” promises “to stop the rise of the Oceans and begin the cooling of the Earth” is to say the least an individual of staggering arrogance or more likely an individual with serious mental problems. Why anyone continues to support this incompetent, lying, petulant, whining, blaming, sulking, narcissist is hard to understand. But then look how many adored Hitler and screamed “Heil Hitler, Heil Hitler!” Here the brainless cult members Scream “Yes We Can, Yes We can!” during his Coronation and now they Scream “Pass the jobs bill”, Pass the jobs bill!”

Well that and:

Please refrain from clapping [Please refrain from clapping] because clapping [because clapping] may mean [may mean] that someone will not be heard [that someone will not be heard]

You know, when this is done as a litany in a church liturgy, there is some spiritual meaning associated with the verse/refrain elements. In the political arena, this is simply creepy.

“Obama has underestimated the frustration in the country and the power of the Tea Party movement, which gives the prevailing disillusionment a platform and a voice. It is by far the most vibrant political force in America. Obama’s left-of-center coalition, which got young people and intellectuals involved and which appealed to a majority of women, blacks and Latinos, has evaporated into nothing.”

“The new right, though, is on the rise. It sets the agenda. America is facing a shift to the right. The Republicans have already marched in this direction of their own accord, regardless how many Tea Party reactionaries get a seat and a voice in Congress in November. The Democrats and the president have been put totally on the defensive. From now on they will only be able to react, rather than act.”

“The president’s workdays are said to end early, often at 4 p.m. He usually has dinner in the family residence with his wife and daughters, then retreats to a private office. One person said he takes a stack of briefing books. Others aren’t sure what he does.”

I’ll bet Reggie or Kal could tell you……..

Obama the narcissist… if he thinks this…

“One veteran Democratic campaign operative put it more bluntly when asked to assess Obama’s approach: ‘He just hates politics and politicians.’…

Then he has an extreme problem when he looks in a mirror.

When he is in a room by himself.

When he only has ‘yes men’ around him and that a scant few willing to play to his ego.

He has lived as a politician since his early days of being an activist, and then getting races handed to him either by design or default. He has never had to generate a major bill and if the reports are true during his time in IL then had bills written for him to claim as his own even then. Now he has to figure it out with two of the most ideologically skewed people in his retinue after Wright… and he knows that both Val and Dave have their own agendas since they are politicians.

That he hates.

He is now hating that which he always claimed was on the outside.

Only to find he is that which he hates, surrounds himself with those people and can’t stand that no one can see him for other than he is. It isn’t that he lied to the American People, his colleagues, and everyone around him… no… he has lied to himself and is now finding that out. When he took up his fathers dreams he never bothered to ask himself ‘…and based on those dreams he had against colonials, how would he see me?’

Because the answer was the his father left him, and only politics was there to fill that void.

You cannot live by politics alone.

Doing that will be the end of you as a person.

I have no sympathy for the path he chose, the vitriol he contains and the man he has become. You can be a self-made man in America and help build a better world… he, instead, let others make him into what he is and now finds he is not liking who has come out one little bit. Will he actually make it to the end of the year as President? My gut is saying he will… but the systems analyst within me is saying ‘he is on a course of self-destruction’ and that is something I cannot ignore for the sake of my self-preservation.

I hope he gets by this to get massively defeated next year.

Hope is not a strategy.

I’m planning on a worse case scenario and being one of those at the other end to offer a hand up to my fellow citizens.

It is a win-win strategy, because the evil that lurks within the hearts of men is there for all to see, and when these weeds finish their blossoming they bring a bitter fruit to bear.

NYPD costs rise as Wall Street protests continue

NEW YORK — The protesters demonstrating against Wall Street are continuing to make their presence felt in lower Manhattan. That means the police are there, too. And there’s a price for that.

Patrolling the protests has cost the New York Police Department close to $2 million, mostly in overtime pay. That’s at a time when city agencies are looking for ways to cut their budgets under order from Mayor Michael Bloomberg.

Obama Presidency by the Numbers
Oct 4 2011
*********************************
*********************************

How should the American people assess the performance of their president? One way is to examine key performance metrics, such as jobs, economic growth and inflation.

This video offers a comparison of some of these metrics from at the beginning of President Obama’s term to now. Decide for yourself if you are better off today than you were then.

Someone should send that picture to Pelosi Galore, with copies to all tax payers.

petefrt on October 11, 2011 at 7:23 AM

“Pelosi galore.” I may have to steal use that line in the future!

In all seriousness, do Obama’s advisors believe that he can really spend the next 14 months campaigning? And why does he keep running to the left when his poll numbers keep falling? It is both bad for the country and bad politics.

As the author said, that is clearly the only trick he has left. Not good for the country.
