A different type of protest: Hundreds rally in support of Gibson Guitars

posted at 5:40 pm on October 10, 2011 by Tina Korbe

As the Occupy Wall Street protests grow “increasingly debauched,” Tea Partiers in Tennessee remind us what a polite, impassioned and principled protest looks like:

Hundreds of Gibson Guitar supporters rallied for the legendary guitar factory at a dual demonstration-concert in Nashville, Tenn. Saturday, following a federal raid in August over the company’s importation practices.

The “We Stand With Gibson” rally drew about 500 attendees, including members of the Tea Party, according to the Tennessean. Some carried signs that read “Who’s next“ and ”When they come for you, who will be left to speak?”

Gibson supporters have railed against perceived government overreach, saying it’s putting a boot on the neck of business owners during tough economic times.

Just watch this video to further contrast the flavor:

Notably absent: Sex, drugs and unsanitary conditions. Notably present: United States flags, audio of the national anthem and a clean parking lot. It also makes sense that this protest both began and ended on a Saturday. Just sayin’.

Watch how this is not connected to regulation or the leftist agenda in this country. Gotta love our media and pop culture.

And now we will have a short musical interlude in guitar and crickets for the lame stream media…

Lotta Leftist Love for Gibson and the demonstrators in the Comments at the link. Many have been removed by the Editors.

By the way, I was one of those violent, raaaacist, astroturfed teabaggers in Nashville for the rally. And guess what, we left the place clean and orderly, and we were not paid to turn the property into a garbage heap. Of course the MSM won’t report that.

Wait a minute! I think I saw a gum wrapper—around the :36 mark.

The Democrat National Media totally ignored the rally. Didn’t report it at all.

Yeah, but what’s a protest without someone defecating on a police car?

WarEagle01 on October 10, 2011 at 6:11 PM

The government has confiscated Gibson’s property for two years and still has yet to charge a crime.

I think Gibson’s right to due process has been violated.

Kini on October 10, 2011 at 6:19 PM

The government is absolutely right to raid Gibson – they are unapologetic tree killers that use electricity made from coal to torture the carcasses of those defenseless trees! If that weren’t enough, they soak them in oil-based stains to change their color! Tree racism! And using Ebony wood! More arbor-racism!

My daughter, the musical prodigy (she’ll be a household name some day and I’ll be living in an oceanside mansion) is getting a Gibson for Christmas!

Gibson Responds to Federal Raid
Aug 25 2011
************

Henry Juszkiewicz, Chairman and CEO of Gibson Guitar Corp., has responded to the August 24 raid of Gibson facilities in Nashville and Memphis by the Federal Government. In a press release, Juszkiewicz said: “Gibson is innocent and will fight to protect its rights. Gibson has complied with foreign laws and believes it is innocent of ANY wrong doing. We will fight aggressively to prove our innocence.”

The raids forced Gibson to cease manufacturing operations and send workers home for the day while armed agents executed the search warrants. “Agents seized wood that was Forest Stewardship Council controlled,” Juszkiewicz said. “Gibson has a long history of supporting sustainable and responsible sources of wood and has worked diligently with entities such as the Rainforest Alliance and Greenpeace to secure FSC-certified supplies. The wood seized on August 24 satisfied FSC standards.”

Juszkiewicz believes that the Justice Department is bullying Gibson without filing charges.

“The Federal Department of Justice in Washington, D.C. has suggested that the use of wood from India that is not finished by Indian workers is illegal, not because of U.S. law, but because it is the Justice Department’s interpretation of a law in India. (If the same wood from the same tree was finished by Indian workers, the material would be legal.) This action was taken without the support and consent of the government in India.”

Gotta ask, were there any big name rock or rap people there to give their support who use these guitars? I didn’t watch the whole thing. If any big names didn’t show up, are they getting the boot from bho and team on their head if they show up?
Our home will be with you Gibson to fight this krap from bho and team. Hang in there Gibson, millions are with you.

Watertown! Oh, that nasty little burgh is nothing but a speed trap. Beautiful straight stretch of Highway 40 about a mile long that inexplicably is posted at 30mph.

Oh, I *knew* it was a speed trap, but some days you’re just motoring along, thinking happy thoughts…
