Occupy Atlanta gives John Lewis the cold shoulder

posted at 1:30 pm on October 9, 2011 by Jazz Shaw

Apparently having solved all other problems in Georgia, a group of roughly 300 protesters decided to mimic the recent events in Manhattan and set up Occupy Atlanta. Unlike their brothers and sisters in arms up in the Big Apple, though, they didn’t have to wait for weeks on end to attract the attention of the political establishment. On the very first evening, member of Congress and civil rights icon John Lewis showed up to lend his support and say a few words to the assembled crowd. So… how did that work out?

About 200 people attended the event. U.S. Congressman John Lewis even stopped by for about half an hour.

Several demonstrators held signs showing their frustration with Washington’s relationship with big business. Many people voiced general frustration. One woman said she was there for changes for animals. Another attendee said he didn’t think either party represented his feelings.

Congressman Lewis (D, GA) was ready to talk to the group, but they didn’t give him a chance to speak.

“I was going to say, I stand with you. I support you, what you’re down,” said Lewis to the media.

Wait a minute, here. You’re not going to even let John Lewis speak? Doesn’t that make you a… a… what’s the word I’m looking for, Jim Hoft?

How very racist.

That was it. Thanks.

This produced precisely the opposite effect which the organizers had been hoping for, at least with one attendee.

Michelle Williams was excited to attend the event and no longer wanted to be associated with the movement, citing how Lewis was treated.

“I am angry because this is not what democracy is all about. This is Marxist more Stalin like. Your movement, you’re just riff-raff. You’re an organized mob,” said Williams.

The video follows, and I’m beginning to sense a recurring theme here. Interviews done by ABC with a selection of protesters once again found a group of people with, shall we say, a rather eclectic set of issues they wanted to address. I’m not sure who was being targeted by the lady who wanted to talk about the way Wall Street treats animals, but I’m sure she means well.

You can sort it out for yourselves. ROLL 212!

I wasted 30 min. of my life watching the video from Drudge last night.

The stoned filthy morons don’t know who John Lewis is.

I loved, loved, loved when he left in a huff, indignant at such stupidity on his side. Hopefully he will get some ‘religion’ and decency back. He and his handlers were disgusted at the imbecillic creeps.

Let this go on and on…up to the election of 2012. The more the folks see this dreck, the more repulsive it will be on election day.

This will be one of the most meaningful elections in history.

That’s the way liberals always are at these things.

When the peace marches were going on when Bush was President, the live shots on CSPAN were hilarious. They would let people get up and speak and they would talk about anything but war. It was all over the place.

The protestors may have been out of line, but you’ll sure as hell not find me stepping up to defend John Lewis. That doddering fool squanders his credibility – which was considerable – every time he uses civil rights and race as a cudgel to beat the Republicans.

If you ask me, this is nothing more than a bunch of showboats telling another showboat not to steal their thunder.

When you are alienating Democrat Congressman from the left, you are so far over the line that you cant see the line anymore. As Joey from friends once said.

“You are so far over the line…the line is a dot to you!”

These people are the worst dregs society has to offer, and im glad at least some Democrats are starting to realize these mobs have nothing to do with “Democracy” or “The People”.

The chanting-hand-signing by the “crowd” is beyond belief to any sane, reasonable adult.

This repetition aloud of what “the teacher” is saying as it’s being said (what the Atlanta ‘protesters’ engaged in) AND the use of “hand signs” instead of clapping is what kindergarten-age CHILDREN are instructed to do especially in “lower achievement” or mostly non-White racial groups (who are far more prone to outbursts and interruptions and not following along with instructions than are most White children).

It is very difficult to believe that any adult much moreso hundreds of adults as in Atlanta would be engaged in this sort of activity. One wonders if they’re “in kindergarten” in their minds and I’d say, apparently so, they are.

Adds more insight into why Joe Biden was speaking to kindergarten-age children about how he and Barack “inherited” all their “problems” “caused by the GOP”…

From this one crowd in Atlanta alone can be seen the dreadful outcome of indoctrination by Marxists/Socialists on our youth. They never mature emotionally or psychologically especially once introduced to the government-as-parent-with-feed process.

This is some video of what the protestors actually did to Congressman Lewis after he was introduced to speak. Eventually, he simply just saunters off as protestors yelled at him that he’s ‘no better than anyone else‘.

The video certainly gives much more credence to Ms. Williams’ claim that they are an organized mob and not representative of ‘Democracy’.

Note that the women has to look around before she says “maybe” she’s there for animal changes, but heck, she’s really just glad she came up with something for the camera. And she tacks on “corporate America” because…well, that’s what you do. The guy after her is looking for a political party to represent his “feelings”. So perhaps one or t’other major party can add a plank to its platform calling for a Constitutional amendment guaranteeing equal rights to pudgy, putty-palmed, irony-addict parent-dependents with inadequacy issues. And John Lewis? Isn’t he the one who hears imaginary racial slurs? You wonder if the racist fairies were there in Et-lana prompting those people to shout him down. And if that enfeebled, bloodless vegan with the bullhorn had spoken one you can be sure the crowd would have mildlessly repeated it.

Which part of Dr. King’s legacy says it is right for a sitting Congressman to slander his fellow Americans when they are staging a NON-VIOLENT protest by lying and saying they called him the “N” word and spit on him. His problem isn’t that he’s “out of date.” His problem is that he is a corrupt, money-grubbing, race-hustling liar who is working these days only for himself. The group in New York was also chanting everything that was said. I asked why and got a semi-intelligent answer. They have restrictions on how many people and who can use microphones, so by chanting everything, they duck around that rule. Of course, they said so while they were smoking which Bloomberg has banned in parks, so I can’t say they follow all the rules.

They actually didn’t deny John Lewis the opportunity to speak, they just said he’d have to address them after the agenda was met. I am shocked that a Democrat would view themselves as more equal then all the others attending the rally.

The un-edited version. See if you last more than 2 minutes.

No! Was there a point to all of that?

You must watch the unedited version, which was up on Drudge last night. Jazz: You do a disservice by not including this:

I am a little stunned that adults… even liberal adults could ever let themselves be reduced to that level.

The first guy who wants to pwn these idiots will have watched Life of Brian very carefully…. they are asking for that sort of treatment and it will make them a laughingstock. And then that will be the end of the ‘movement’: the Left cannot survive laughter.

Speaking of John Lewis, get a load of the lie Pelosi told on ABC this morning about Cain.

“I didn’t hear him say anything when the tea party was out demonstrating, actually spitting on members of Congress right here in the Capitol, and he and his colleagues were putting signs in the windows encouraging them,’ Pelosi said.

That’s worth it’s own thread.
