Video: Crowder’s TeaCon Midwest set
posted at 8:08 am on October 1, 2011 by Ed Morrissey
I’m in Chicago this weekend for TeaCon Midwest, hosted by WIND 560 AM, our Salem Radio affiliate. Later today I’ll take part in a panel discussion about the presidential race, which will include a Skype video interview with Michele Bachmann and a live appearance by Herman Cain, who will most certainly be the man of the hour after his big week. The panel includes Andrew Breitbart and Guy Benson, which means it will be lively and informative. I’m also hoping to get a couple of interviews myself on camera to post here later as well.
The event got off to a hilarious, if politically incorrect start, last night with Steven Crowder. We get to see his videos, but it isn’t often that we get to see him in his day job, er, night job as a standup comic. He had the audience roaring with laughter despite a couple of technical malfunctions with his microphone. If you hear someone repeatedly exclaim, “Oh, my!”, that’s probably Guy Benson:

There are twelve As in raaaaaaaaaaaacist. Try to get it right the next time.

speaking of that, read cornell belcher’s transcript of how he thinks herman cain is a bigot/racist, er…raaaacist. From Anderson cooper interview.

Interesting to see that his stand-up is as unfunny as his videos. All the excessive mugging and irritating voices can’t make bad material funny.
AngusMc on October 1, 2011 at 8:46 AM
That was painful to watch.
Ronnie on October 1, 2011 at 8:50 AM
I thought it was funny. And his broad shouldered looks are very easy on the eyes first thing in the morning.
CarolynM on October 1, 2011 at 8:58 AM
He would be better if he stopped trying to be CarrotTop. His material needs a Bob Newhart delivery.

Take away the drinks and the crowd and very few of these folks are comedians. Using embarassment-sex and racist or dirty or putdown language isn’t comedy – tittilation is for teens.
I’ll take Harvey Korman and Tim Conway any day.

Tough crowd.
Cindy Munford on October 1, 2011 at 9:20 AM
I thought it was funny.

Crowder is funny, he can’t help it if the LEFT is made up of a bunch of sad sacks with no sense of humor.
Dr Evil on October 1, 2011 at 9:23 AM
Overall I agree with the first part of your post but the Korman and Conway comment..no way. Korman couldn’t keep from laughing half the time. Conway was almost as annoying.

Good stuff. A terrorist attack on Detroit? LOL, PBHO them to it!
MJBrutus on October 1, 2011 at 9:32 AM
Aren’t the Wall Street Protesters kinda like terrorists? Bless their hearts.

I’ll take Harvey Korman and Tim Conway any day.
Actually, now he’s Harvey Corpseman. You’ll have to dig him up if you want to see him live now. Loved his movies though.

Steve Crowder for White House Press Secretary. But change the first name to Skyler so the lib press corpse (Ms. Thomas) think you are their inside co-operator.
MSGTAS on October 1, 2011 at 10:02 AM
Blazing Saddles is classic Korman at his best. I don’t remember Blazing Saddles being PC :)
hurmph hurmph hurmph……hey that guy didn’t give me a hurmph.

Here in the Detroit area the trial of the underware bomber is going on. The @$$hat is objecting to any evidence that makes him look quilty.
I think Crowder is right that it was a hazeing thing that went to far.
As October is here it remides me that the annual lets burn down our city for Holloween events are at hand. Instead of “Trick or Treet” its “Gas or Keroseen”.
Thank you, Thank you. Don’t forget to tip the waitresses on the way out.

I loved it.. it was very funny.. the left are just a bunch of cry babies.. they wallow in their self-hate and absolutely cannot take a joke.
hogtrashhd on October 1, 2011 at 12:08 PM
Crowder is funny. He is still honing his act but, he is very young for a comedian. Not to mention, it is a HELL of a lot harder to write intelligent topical political humor then to tell a half hours worth of poo and sex jokes while swearing every 3rd word.
Give him a few years and he will be excellent, you can see moments of his great stage presence and ability to craft a smart joke.
He is exactly what the right needs to be relevant to younger voters and someday I bet he is one of the most famous conservatives in show business.
Crowder is cool and that is one thing our side needs more of….
You know who else is cool…
Herman Cain baby. Lets unite behind Cain before Romney sneaks his way to the nomination.

Now you’re just appealing to greatness.

I loved Newhart on tv but I saw his live act and it was very disappointing. It was slow and boring. He works much better with others.
CW on October 1, 2011 at 1:56 PM
A lot of comments from the comedy critics.
I laughed a few times watching this, and I think you are right: it isn’t enough that a conservative comic be conservative. He should also be funny.
I like Crowder. He’s funnier than most comics.

LMAO!! Love ya Steven!!!!
Tim_CA on October 1, 2011 at 2:36 PM
I think he’s funnier chatting with Ed :) More jokes and less funny voices, please.
Greenhelmet on October 1, 2011 at 2:52 PM
Thanks for the laughes! I thought his ability to respond “off teleprompter” to the crowd was awesome. To me, that makes a comic.
VikingGoneWild on October 1, 2011 at 3:20 PM
Besides he’s cute! Unlike the unkempt look of the left.

Crowder’s comedy was hit or miss, and I include shock value as a hit with some of Crowder’s material. That said, he’s still honing the craft and getting better.
I actually liked the bit about hazing the underwear bomber, lol.
