The big holdup on the bridge so far hasn’t been money but bureaucratic inertia. Ohio, Kentucky and the federal government started working on the project 10 years ago — and have used about $2 million in federal funds — yet the new bridge is still more than 10 years away from completion.

The reason, transportation experts say, is the labyrinth of rules and red tape to navigate to get a major road project under way, a chaotic financing system, and a federal approval process that, as one expert put it, “can be astronomically nightmarish.”

So when will Obama relax the rules and red tape to get the parallel bridge built?

If the existing bridge is structurally sound but too narrow, build an identical bridge parallel to the existing bridge and have traffic flow in one direction over the old bridge, the opposite direction over the new bridge.

If the new bridge is identical to the old bridge, this saves engineering costs–find the old plans and do it again.

But what does this engineer know about building bridges–the O-genius whose college grades are unknown MUST have a better idea!!!

And so THIS is the spot that HE chooses to make HIS speech, right on the cusp of rush hour, with law enforcement forced to shut down alternate routes around what is a daily point of major conjestion for HIS security.

My cousin saw it coming and left work an hour early, but he still got stuck a bit and almost missed picking up the kids at the bus stop. Lots of families got screwed yesterday. There’s plenty of bitching in Cincinnati from yesterday’s commute.

And today it was featured in “Rainman 2: The Idiot Savant President.”

While designed to handle 85,000 cars and trucks, it now carries more than 150,000, leading to regular backups.

So, a major route that already has more traffic than it was designed to handle is brought to a dead stop so that this schmuck can use the bridge as a backdrop for a campaign photo op.

Good job there, Bammy! I’m sure this will endear you to the good people of Cincinnati.

No, O is talking about the Brent Spence Bridge (interstate).

The bridge in RainMan was the The John A. Roebling Suspension Bridge whicgh is the prototype for the Brooklyn Bridge.
