Video: WH press corps laughs at Carney’s transparent spin

posted at 4:50 pm on September 13, 2011 by Tina Korbe

More evidence that Obama’s jobs plan isn’t resonating as much more than a reelection effort. As Greg Hengler at Townhall.com asks, what do you do when even your fans laugh at you?

I’d love to just see the video cut to repeat Carney’s quote, “The president is campaigning. The president is campaigning.”

Here’s another fun take on the non-content of the president’s recent speech. It comes from Brent Bozell’s ForAmerica.org and asks the crucial question: Do we really want to continue with this fellow as our leader? Hope not.

Obama’s jobs plan

That’s exactly right – it’s the plan for Obama to keep his job.

You stop calling them fans.

Reminds me of Donald Sutherland as the professor in Animal House, pleading with student to please do their classwork. “I’m not joking… this is my job…”

I just love how Food Stamp President constantly talks about how political things are…time to end the politics, etc. He is the biggest offender and he thinks we are too stupid to see it. Keep up the insulting behavior pea brain. I want you gone.

NJ Red on September 13, 2011 at 4:56 PM

Carney should get a little taller podium and maybe then the press corp. would feel sorry for him.

Now he’s just pathetic without any sympathy.

UltimateBob on September 13, 2011 at 4:59 PM

The most amazing part of the video is that its Norah O’Donnell who asked the question.

As a liberal, when you’ve lost Norah, just walk away.

Why do so many Democrats and their spokes-idiots insist on placing their thumb over the forefinger and shake that same hand at the audience?? They’ve been doing it ever since Clinton took office.

Drives me nuts!

jondun5 on September 13, 2011 at 5:01 PM

And yes, I know Norah O’Donnell is a mush-minded leftist, but damn, that woman is gorgeous.

The president is campaigning. The president is campaigning.

Wait a minute, if the President downgrade is campaigning, why are we paying for it?

Shouldn’t the costs to fly Air Force One all over the place be paid by the DNC?

BobMbx on September 13, 2011 at 5:11 PM

ROFL. This is the kind of clever, yet trenchant stuff that needs to be ubiquitous during the Presidential campaign. We need to start using Obama’s own words to do our talking; let him beat himself. In his inaugural speech, he promised to be the President of the entire country, but time and again, he has shown himself to be partisan and ideological, calling us “enemies” and warning us to “sit in the back.” It’s high time for us to call him on his hubris and arrogance.

College Prof on September 13, 2011 at 5:11 PM

Poor Carney – dyes his hair, changes his glasses – and still, the press corpse and public-at-large laugh at him and his boss – it’s the laughter that keeps them up at night…

As for the thumb/forefinger point – drives me nuts too – guess it’s supposed to be better than pointing a finger in yer face :)

My goodness but was that sad. The first 35 seconds made absolutely no sense. Did anyone else think she was trying not to laugh at the end?

It’s nice to see that everyone agrees that it’s just a campaign. Too bad Carney’s too slow to figure out what he said before it was too late.

Didn’t think it could get worse than Baghdad Bob, but there ya be. An excuse to use my favorite phrase: Just when you think you’ve scraped the bottom of the barrel, you find it is someone else’s ceiling.

More evidence that Obama’s jobs plan isn’t resonating as much more than a reelection effort.

More reason to be logical when the polls spew out numbers without backing it up. Also important, is to look at who is conducting the poll, and asking ones self…are they, or have they ever shilled for Obama? If the answer is yes, it’s been padded to make Obama look better than it truly does.

May I ask why? There have been many scorch and burn comments, but what is yours, Schadenfreude? Not going to argue or try to dissuade you because you appear to be a thoughtful person so this is probably not a whim (imho), but just curious.

kim roy on September 13, 2011 at 6:08 PM

His answer looked like something he’s been sitting on for a long time (no pun intended) just waiting for a question that might be somewhere close so he could rattle it off, whether it had anything to do with the actual question.

rihar on September 13, 2011 at 6:24 PM

Wow. This is a real turning point. Things have gotten pretty bad for the White House when the liberal media starts laughing at their responses. Of course he’s campaigning, he’s been campaigning since what, March? My question is…since he’s going to take his jobs plan/campaign to all corners why isn’t he taking the frigging multimillion dollar buses he just bought?

I think it’s just a way of point fingers without using fingers.
.
If you want a really irritating gesture, just catch Axelrod sometime when he is aggressively making points against an opponent; he will chant his answers without stopping while swinging his right arm with the fist balled up, as if punching, from right to left across his body. It really makes me want to stick my fingers in his eyes.

Jobs, jobs, jobs, economy, economy, economy.

Instead all day has been about inanities.

If Obama wins the destruction might finally wake up America, or she’ll be destroyed for good, by her own making.

The right is as nuts as the left, unfortunately.

It’s the main reason why good people don’t run, and really shouldn’t. We don’t deserve good people to stick their necks out becaue they get destroyed by tiny yahoos.

I don’t need to watch him gesture to feel the same urge. I only need to remember that he’s responsible for manufacturing Obama — starting long before O was even in the Senate.

This morning I had the experience of listening to a speech Obama gave through the magical radio station that is NPR (I left it on from last night when they play classical music so don’t judge). He was basically saying that we need to keep pushing because those “people in Washington” are to blame. It sounded more like a 2008 speech he made before he was POTUS. Does he not know that he is Washington now?
