It begins: Egyptian mob breaks into Israeli embassy in Cairo
posted at 9:38 pm on September 9, 2011 by Allahpundit
Nothing says “Middle East revolution” like attacking an embassy owned by one of the two Satans. This time the Little Satan was targeted. Next time, us?
Egyptian police made no attempt to intervene during the day as crowds of hundreds tore down an embassy security wall with sledgehammers and their bare hands or after nightfall when about 30 protesters stormed into the Nile-side high-rise building where the embassy is located.
Just before midnight, the group of protesters reached a room on one of the embassy’s lower floors at the top of the building and began dumping Hebrew-language documents from the windows, said an Egyptian security official who spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to speak to the media…
The group got into the building through a third-floor window and climbed the stairs to the embassy. They worked for hours to break through three doors to enter the embassy, said the 28-year-old man. They encountered three Israelis and beat one of them.
Several Egyptian military policemen appeared and escorted the Israelis to safety but did not attempt to arrest any of the protesters, who then set about dumping files out the windows, he said.
Embassy staff, including the Israeli ambassador and his family, have left for the airport to be evacuated by military plane. The Israeli foreign ministry’s opened an emergency situation room to deal with the crisis and Ehud Barak phoned Panetta to ask him to use U.S. leverage with Egypt to try to protect the embassy. Netanyahu spoke to Obama too, who promised him he’d do everything he can to resolve the situation — whatever that might mean. Funny coincidence: Earlier today a spokesman for Hamas suggested that the group might have to move its headquarters out of Damascus, which has become far too dangerous due to the protests and regime crackdown, to somewhere more accommodating. Somewhere like … Cairo. If you think Israeli/Egyptian relations are bad now, wait until the provocations really start rolling.
While the Egyptian military junta is busy stroking the local Islamists by looking the other way at an attack on Israeli diplomats, Turkey’s demagoging the UN’s recent report on the IDF’s flotilla raid to boost its own popularity in the region. First Erdogan said he’ll suspend defense ties with Israel until Netanyahu apologizes for the raid; now, in a bit of Nasserite pandering to the Israel-hating Arab Street, he’s vowing to send Turkish warships to escort the next flotilla to Gaza. Give him credit for being opportunistic: With Egypt in limbo, Syria being torn apart, and Iran suddenly nervous about losing its regional client regimes and possibly having to deal with another uprising, there’s a big fat power vacuum in the Middle East and Turkey’s going to try to fill it. Not so long ago that would have been good news — Turkey’s a NATO member, after all, and historically has been more secular than other Muslim states — but with Erdogan and the Islamists now in charge, who knows what those warships will do?
Long story short, if you enjoyed the Arab Spring, wait until you see what’s in store for the Arab Summer.

OblameO’s Muslim Brotherhood … useful idiots are allowed out to do OblameO’s bidding.
FDR used the same union thug tactics to do things like is going on in Seattle

Hopefully the Israelis will mine their own embassy so if necessary they can detonate it from a safe distance. Let the Egyptians be blamed for it.
katiejane on September 10, 2011 at 8:16 AM
Wasn’t this Arab Spring cheered by Obama? He knew, what is common knowledge-that the Muslim Brotherhood(the force that created al qaeda)was behind the revolutionary uprisings. He’s had a cold shoulder for Israel from the beginning. Shouldn’t some of the blame for this stuff be on his shoulder? He did go into Lybia without first checking with congress for Lybia. Why not Syria and protecting Israel?
Will he just stand by while the Islamist forces destroy humans in a genocidal attempt as did Clinton in East Timor(He also ignored the slaughter of a million in the Congo – not bad for the first “black president”)
Will the GOP dare to put pressure on him demanding his public support and reiterating our military support of Israel?
Will the American Jews leave the Democratic party if he doesn’t?
(The last was mere rhetoric.)

The Muslim Brotherhood actually stayed out of the uprising until it was done, only swooping in to take as much control as they could after the dust settled. But it is all a sham, anyway: the socialist military is where the real power is.

The burning of the Israeli flag in the pic is symbolic of what they would like to do to Jews. Is there any doubt as to why the Jewish population of Egypt that had reached closed to 100,000 in the 1930′s today stands at a handful?

The “Carterization” is almost complete!

I wonder if the Israelis have enough ammo of all calibers and types? Where could they get some if needed?

FAST & FURIOUS? :)

This is not just a Islamist Brotherhood thing. Its also nationalistic attitudes. The Egyptian Christians aren’t exactly friendly toward Israel.
V-rod on September 10, 2011 at 11:58 AM
No too bright of the Copts, since they too are on the list for elimination by the Brotherhood.

Well, Obama did give a speech in Cairo.
I’m sure he’ll take credit in 5 4 3 …..
No?

Killing Turks and Egyptians precipitated this crisis. I’m not sure why you think Israel killing more will help improve their prospects with those two countries.

Take a step further back in time, lexhamfox. The actions of the Turks and Egyptians you refer to were breaking International Law. In the past, wars have started between two nation states for less. So It was an Israeli response to illegal actions that you cite. This embassy attack is a new outrage. Killing enough Turks and Egyptians will lead to peace.
Learn the facts. You are a liberal, with all the negative panoply of reality/liberal views mismatches, but give us reason to think you can learn.

When did the Turkish or Egyptian governments violate international law vis a vis Israel? Israel has a right to defend itself but they undermine their own objectives when they use excessive force and play right into the hands of their enemies when they kill unarmed protesters and Egyptian border guards.
Has the Israeli response made them more secure or does it strengthen their enemies and weaken their allies in Turkey and Egypt?

Just off hand we ought to remove all American citizens from Egypt who will leave and are not dual citizens of the US and Egypt. That place is going to blow any time now.
Thank you Obama – you dumb lump of stinky stuff.

It’s so typical to see lexhamfox as usual peddling his wares..
Too bad the entire Egyptian uprising, from day one has featured massive anti semitism, the burning of Israeli flags, anti Israel + American signage.. All being carried out by tens and tens of thousands of Israel hating Egyptians. Of course all this preceeded the terrorist attack that came from Egypt by months, but don’t let any of that ruin your theory lexham.
saus on September 10, 2011 at 8:54 PM
It’s typical of yourself and others to avoid addressing any of my points directly by throwing out false statements like the one you made about the uprising being driven by anti-semitism and anti-American feelings. Perhaps they just got tired of being under a repressive dictatorship run by a thug. The Egyptian security forces are also victims of the Sinai terrorists and there weren’t significant anti-Israeli protests until after Israel attacked over the border.
I will repeat a statement I made earlier… Israel’s tactical actions are undermining it’s own strategic interests as well as the strategic interests of the USA. Terrorists love it when Israel overreacts and kills civilians. It plays right into their hands and made the IHH’s nefarious mission a success. Your own blog highlights a documentary that suggests the same thing.

Only a simpleton would believe what you wrote. Since the so called arab spring began many months ago, there have been numerous strongly supported calls by egyptians to cancel the peace treaty with Israel.
All this again months before the terror incident. I didn’t say the uprising was driven by anti semitism or anti americanism, I said it featured it. But that’s the problem with you , you are always so convived of your own greatness you can’t even read.
Your notion that the were not significant anti Israel sentiment in these protestst until after the terror attack incident shows glaring ignorance, because we in our news HERE, not on your sofa there had nightly reports on our news about it. A glance at imagery of the protests would show that as well.
A simple google search “arab spring egypt anti israel” pulls up 2 millions results, many going back almost half a year. So basically you an ideologue that comes off as a full of crap know it all.
Your mixing of the Arab Spring with Turkey / Israel issues is also irrelevant. Turkey sought to break the Gaza blockade, egypt had supported the Gaza blockade since its inception, full cooperation. Ships rerouted by the blockade were sent to Egypt.
This has nothing to do with Israel’s tactical decisions, and I don’t know what you are talking about re Israel killing civilians. What civilians has Israel been killing? The soldiers in Egypt were not civilians, the 9 turkish IHH activists were jihadis – hardly innocent civilians. The IHH has been designated a terror supporting entity.
Not sure how Israel is underrmining America, by standing up for and fighting for the common values we share. It’s your hero Oloser undermining America by doing the excat opposite, wavering on our shared values, negotiating w/ terrorists, destroying every alliance the USA ever had. Keep cheering him on!!
In summary, as usual you take an anti Israel position, you always have each and every time. You cloak it in being out for tough love just like Obama but no one is fooled.

Oh yeah and btw lehamfox.. The fact that you are here on every single post involving Israel, always putting up your tired insults and bashes of my country is pitiful. I have zero respect for you, I think you are a piece of Sh*t, and you can quote me on that.
I’ll see ya here. Pseudo lover of Israel

Your personal insults towards me don’t further your vacant arguments. It says more about you than it does about me.
lexhamfox on September 11, 2011 at 5:24 AM
It doesn’t matter how many times you repeat it. It’s still wrong. Israel’s responses are proportional.
If Turks and Egyptians decide to attack/beat Israeli soldiers, then they are going to get killed. Expecting any other outcome is stupid.
No, the Turks and Egyptians precipitated this crisis. The Israelis are responding in the most effective and efficient way possible.

Pretty much sums it up. Then you have the Israeli foreign minister suggesting that Israel fund the PKK. These guys are a joke and dangerous for Israel. Conservatives need to wake up to what is actually going on.
