Video: “The Donkey Whisperer”

posted at 3:25 pm on August 24, 2011 by Tina Korbe

This has made its way into my inbox a few times now and it’s just too classic not to post. Roger Williams is Rick Perry’s former Secretary of State and he’s running for Congress in Texas’ new 33rd Congressional district. He’s pretty confident he would be able to make a difference in Congress because he has a lot of practice doing what he would need to do in Washington:

It’s hard not to like Williams in this video. From his very first sentence — “You’re not a victim; you’re a patriot,” — it’s evident he’s a good-natured, common sense kind of guy. The ad is effective in that it makes me want to learn more about him. I’ll be looking for more from him.

Awesome. Very effective ad.

carbon_footprint on August 24, 2011 at 3:39 PM

Earlier this year, Roger Williams, Michael Williams and Ted Cruz were all running for KBH’s senate seat. Now they are in different races. Win, win, win for the TEA party in Texas.

It is a funny video.

cozmo on August 24, 2011 at 3:40 PM

What a jackass.

txag92 on August 24, 2011 at 3:41 PM

Not a gut buster but very cute.

hawkdriver on August 24, 2011 at 3:41 PM

That was excellent!

mizflame98 on August 24, 2011 at 3:42 PM

I like the line about trading the donkeys in for elephants. Elephants are stronger, smarter, more obedient, and work harder!

Steve Z on August 24, 2011 at 3:42 PM

What do ya know……Sheila Jackass-Lee(D-Tx)!

It won’t take much to improve on Granger. This guy is however being offered up by TPTB. We will be allowed to vote him in so, there is that.

AlexJ on August 24, 2011 at 3:55 PM

This reminds me of another very funny take off of the Dog Whisperer…from South Park…

I talked at length with Roger recently and he claims that his Dad actually named him after the RI Roger Williams (I’m from RI originally). He is a very nice guy and has some great ideas. He owns car dealerships here in Texas and is very pro-business, small government. Also, not quite as “country” in person! He’s very smart and energetic as a speaker and is really easy to talk to.

The only thing that sucks is that both he and Michael Williams are running for the 33rd and I can’t make up my mind between the two! Of course, I can’t vote for either since I’m in Jeb Hensarling’s district but will lend my support to whoever wins the primary.

mrsmwp on August 24, 2011 at 4:02 PM

They don’t listen because he’s talking to the wrong end.

michaelo on August 24, 2011 at 4:07 PM

Talked with Roger a number of times; glad he’s sorted himself into a race where we don’t have to pick through so many conservatives (He and Michael WIlliams- another good man- had been considering a Senate run, then both decided to drop into Congressional runs- initially the same one. Michael moved elsewhere and both have good shots at winning.) He’s a good man.

Love that ad, but I am a Michael Williams voter to the bitter end. Winter is coming, and someday I will be proud to vote for Michael Williams for President.

Then no worries, they aren’t in the same district any more.

cozmo on August 24, 2011 at 5:18 PM

What a classic. I’ll vote for the guy from AZ. Doesn’t ACORN allow that now? ;-)

RushBaby on August 24, 2011 at 5:07 PM

From what I understand, Michael Williams will be moving a mere mile from his current home so that he can run in CD 25. That means he does not have to go head to head with Roger. Which is great news. I have met and spoken to them each of them and they are both absolutely terrific. Texas needs BOTH men in DC, and now that’s a possibility.

parteagirl on August 24, 2011 at 10:52 PM

These donkeys are nice. Those others…

AshleyTKing on August 24, 2011 at 11:08 PM

Funny ad, but Donkeys and Jackass’ are useful critters. Democrats are not.
