Janeane Garofalo: Is someone paying Herman Cain to be a tea-party token?

posted at 5:31 pm on August 18, 2011 by Allahpundit

She’s quite serious, which makes this clip blogworthy even though it’s just the latest in a long, long, long line of paint-by-numbers racial demagoguery from Garofalo on Olbermann’s show. Even the core criticism is recycled. Remember when she made the same charges about “Stockholm syndrome” and tea-party tokenism against Clarence Thomas a few months ago? You can see her roots as a comic in these segments — they’re essentially just “bits” in which she runs through her routine, the emcee grunts with approval, and the liberal audience cheers in appreciation of an old performer whom they think fondly of. She’s basically the Bob Hope of brainless left-wing race-baiters. In fact, watch to the end and you’ll see that Olby rounds off the segment with a sophomoric photo reel of Republicans eating corn dogs at the Iowa state fair. That’s very much true to the spirit of this “discussion.” What would a vaudeville act be without a dick joke?

There’s no sense complaining about how searingly demeaning this is to Herman Cain. Garofalo’s smart enough to realize that and obviously doesn’t care, and no doubt Cain’s built up a thick skin to it after years and years and years of similar insults from Our Moral Superiors. Instead, focus on the sheer stupidity of her idly wondering whether Karl Rove, of all people, might be paying Cain under the table to run for president. Does she really not understand, even as a casual observer of Republican politics, how bitter the relationship is between Rove and the tea party? Did she not do two seconds of googling before this to check what Rove has said about Cain’s candidacy? Even as a conspiracy theorist, she’s terrible. But good enough for “Countdown,” I guess. I watched the episode of Seinfeld in which she played Jerry’s girlfriend. It was funny. It was enough Garofalo to last me for a while.

I liked the one in Two and a Half Men, where she plays Alan’s psycho date. Very convincingly…

disa on August 18, 2011 at 6:29 PM

If bloggers and other media people didn’t watch MSDNC and idiots like Olby, would they have any viewers at all?

Her career is nonexistent, no sane person wants to be seen with her and all she has left is to go on shows with three viewers in order to screech LOOK AT MEEEEEEE. Every time she does this, it takes her further and further away from legitimacy. Who’s going to hire her? Really – implying that someone as accomplished as Cain doesn’t have a mind of his own??

Reminds me of my new favorite saying: When you think you’ve scraped the bottom of the barrel, you find it has become someone else’s ceiling.

I’d say I feel sorry for her, but it actually looks good on her. Keep talking, Janeane.

What is it about her that warrants ANYONE valuing her opinion, other than being a talking head for the extreme left? Why is she allowed to throw racist accusations out there with no evidence whatsoever? She has absolutely zero credentials in politics.
Explains why Olbermann would have this a$$clown on his show, but it doesn’t explain why Allah would waste his time with the story, other than the fact that…wait for it…IT’S A SLOW NEWS DAY!!!

1. Engaging in ignorant stereotypes shows that Garfalo is a bigot.

2. Having only one joke and using it for all occasions shows that Garfalo is talentless.

3. Her invincible ignorance and stupidity shows that Garfalo is not smart enough to know better.

4. Only ever spewing her ignorant, stupid hate in front of ignorant, stupid haters shows that Garfalo is a coward.

So, to sum up: Garfalo is a bigoted, talentless, ignorant, stupid coward.

I can’t get Current TV so I’ve never watched this show but it’s just wrong to put mental patients on TV so others can make fun of them. What’s next, watching autistic people bang their heads against the wall or deviants torturing cats? This is just sick.

Oh well, a washed up, no talent, grade F comic with beauty the Phantom of the Opera envies must do something, anything, to get on TV even if it means forgoing race-baiting on community television for the even lower ratings of race-baiting on MSLSD.

viking01 on August 18, 2011 at 6:57 PM

Garafalo’s thinking process:

What? A Black Man is a Republican? But the Blacks can’t think for themselves, they’re a cookie-cutter stereotype and they’re all exactly the same with no possibility of any of them thinking something different? Is he broken? Is someone paying him to do this?

Because we all know a Black man can’t think for himself, only white people can have different thoughts within the same racial grouping… no other racial grouping has independent thought or free will.

Someone must be paying him.

Is there any other way to describe the premises that underlie her arguments? The above clearly must be the “logical” starting point from which she then assesses a situation and determines what is “really” happening.

If anyone has another way to explain how Garafalo ends up with her conclusions I’d be willing to hear them; but I can’t see another path from where reality is to her constant conclusions.

gekkobear on August 18, 2011 at 6:59 PM

Edit that. Keef got the boot from MSLSD for insanity exceeding contract limitations didn’t he? Where is Keef lurking nowadays anyway? Not that I would watch or ever plan to do so.

Of Obama and the black voter:

Rush today: If you are getting your milk for free, why spend money on a cow? The only problem Obama has with majority of black voters (about 90% of them) is not whether they will support him but whether they will show up in droves to do so.
The real problem is with the black people… people like Garofalo expects them to act on cue…embrace the same political ideology and vote democrat!

Who is the racist here?

karu_servative on August 18, 2011 at 7:28 PM

Back in 2000 or so, I was driving in the Village, hanging a right onto 11th Street or something. As I was rounding the parked cars on 6th Ave, there was a woman in a leopard print coat, with several dogs on leashes, about to cross the street, without carefully checking for traffic. Missed the group bay maybe 1.5 meters.

It was JG!

Kind of a “Sliding Doors” moment, there…

Would’ve been a shame about the dogs, anyway.

So it’s racist to have a mind of ones own. To think for ones self, and to make decisions based on what one thinks best?

In other words, liberals can’t think without the collective mind, and without others telling them what to think, say and do. Wow! What a bunch of pathetic losers!!!

Isn’t it wonderful when a white woman tells a black man what he should think, do, and feel.

what happened to her? when she was primarily a stand up comedian i recall finding her smart and really funny- and i was conservative then belonging to neither party. she wasn’t quite so politically skewered.

oh, but that was back in the good ol’ days of the 90′s. the first black president was in office . unicorns roamed the land dispensing social justice . all racial strife and inequality disappeared. everyone was free at last, free at last. there was nothing to criticize – no tea party, no evil republican nazi president.

entertainers from the left are primarily just minstrels, white faced minstrels. sad sock puppets for 60′s radical OldSpeak. one should never expect that they know anything about that of which they pontificate- certainly they never evince any knowledge of the republican party being the one that actually freed the slaves . they seem disturbingly unaware of how demeaning diatribes like hers are to the people they have deluded themselves into thinking they’re helping from their wee little perches of white leftist superiority.

it’s pathetic really. she’s about my age . the older i get i think ,we’ll ,at least i am more mature than i was then- at least i’ve grown a little intellectually and have learned to listen and to do the work of thinking instead of just spewing. the more unhinged and irrational of lefties remain moral and emotional infants. most troubling is that their lack of self reflection and inability to admit errors renders them immune to caring about how racist comments like hers are. is it willful or are the just that oblivious, that arrogant? in this they’re aided and abetted by prominent black leftists who shamelessly say the very same things about the herman cains.

Deanna on August 18, 2011 at 10:29 PM

Garofalo believes that black people cannot think for themselves, and any sign that they break from orthodoxy is a clear indication that they are under the control of some other power.

And this is evidence that we are racist?

Selkirk on August 18, 2011 at 10:43 PM

Yet another reason I don’t bother with mainstream media outlets. Why must we be subjected to political “analysis” from someone like her? She’s a kook, and has never had anything of value to say or contribute to any discussion. Were there not any reputable political analysts or conservatives available?

Every time I hear someone like this make those kinds of charges of racism in that context, it reminds me of the person who farts and tries to blame someone else for it. The “he who smelt it, dealt it” concept.

Usually the people who the scream the loudest about racism are themselves the biggest racists in any room they walk into.

ZK on August 19, 2011 at 9:28 AM

Janeane Garofalo is perhaps the best example of a true racist.

Those on the left that claim anyone that does not believe in their viewpoint are racist. Liberals have found ways to strangle the English language so every person, object, or thought is racist.

The fact is racism only exists in the mind of people who cannot clearly see the forest from the trees and is usually associated with a paranoid mind unable to differentiate right from wrong, black from white or any concept they cannot explain. If left unchecked this paranoia become highly unstable and a danger to themselves and others.

I get the idea that because her act wasn’t formulaic or heavy with jokes , she got the idea that she was doing “intellectual” comedy.
