Video: Future taxpayers of America demand gigantic welfare state

posted at 9:41 pm on August 9, 2011 by Allahpundit

Via Breitbart TV. Remember that liberal tea party that Van Jones is building? Here’s one of their first big initiatives: The “Contract for the American Dream,” in which fresh-faced load-bearers for an imploding entitlement regime cheerily read cue cards calling for more weight on their backs, please. If you’re wondering how we can possibly afford “Medicare for all” when we can’t afford Medicare for some, you obviously missed this video from a few weeks ago of Jones reassuring America that we are not in fact broke, no matter how many zeroes there might be up on that national debt scoreboard. All we need to do to build the progressive welfare state of our dreams is get out of Iraq and Afghanistan, nationalize health care so that we can dictate the price of services to medical practitioners from coast to coast, and hike taxes on the rich — and eventually the middle class, of course — way way waaaaay up. How far up? Really far. It’s working for Europe, isn’t it?

I’m giving you two clips. The second, which is a few years old, is my all-time favorite MoveOn spot. Let’s hope Congress passes the Contract for the American Dream and gets rid of deficits for good.

Joseph Gerbils would be beaming with pride at the intensity and quantity of propaganda the American left is churning out … would also feel inadequate that he never achieved this level of audaciousness.

God help us.

(Some artistic license — mine)

Don’t the people who came before marvel at what their disciples have been able to achieve with their (modest) original ideas?

I agree that Gerbils would be filled with wonder and more than a little pride, and also red-faced at the shameless nature of his acolytes.

I used to feel guilty about saddling future generations with a crushing debt burden. After watching that… not so much…

Before amnesty for illegals from Reagan, before Medicaid and Medicare bloated as federal programs do, counties hosted tax funded hospitals for the indigent. If you really needed medical care, get in line and wait for treatment that would eventually arrive given your ample patience and a reasonable tax rate on the local population of US CITIZENS wherein EVERYONE paid taxes. It functioned according to taxpayer need until the Leftists perverted government preventing law enforcement, selling bankruptcy and national ruin as the “compassion” we “deserve” “requiring” autocrats to seize control.

Except that MY kids aren’t big t!tty babies and certainly don’t “deserve” what our government is doing and will do any more than I deserve what politicians have done and are doing.

We aren’t spending beyond our means, nor are we taking part in the “freebees” like cash for clunkers…

But well I know that most people are really blood sucking parasites, and many cannibals.

The first video was rather telling– I guess all those slogans still sound pretty believable to the “10 and under” segment of the population…

As to the second– just mind-blowing. I had no idea that President Bush was still at it!

Liberals will lie
to their own children it seems,
to achieve their ends.

Jaibones on August 10, 2011 at 8:44 AM

Mmm… Mmm… Mmmmmm…… Use the children well…

Interesting that comments and ratings have been disabled for Van Jones’ video.

Communists always use the same strategy. Envy.
If more people took the American Dream to heart, and read the Words of the Lord more often, they would see that Envy gains you nothing.

How about a video of a couple of kids saying: “You want to buy US bonds? Don’t count on us paying back money we didn’t borrow.”

I suspect the Left would have a cow.

Those Marxist scum are pure, rancid rot.

You know, the average adult liberal advocating for the same stuff is no more sophisticated than these dopey kids.

It won’t be long that NYC will look like Berlin in 1945 and it all happened on our watch. We were afraid to utilize the tools provided for us by the founding fathers so we will be and are being beaten down.

While most of the ideas in this list show ignorance of basic economics (not surprising), at least one of them also shows that they don’t even understand the current law. How about levying a tax on Wall Street – a small transaction fee on every trade. Putting aside the issue of whether that is a tax on “Wall Street” (as opposed to a tax on investors), what they fail to realize is that this tax already exists. Section 31 of the Securities Exchange Act imposes fees on securities exchanges that are passed on to broker-dealers on a transaction-by-transaction basis. Those fees comprise a large part of the SEC’s operating budget.

Maybe Van Jones’s next great idea is to establish a federal agency whose mission it is to ensure that unions are able to coerce workers into paying them their protection money, money which they can turn around and use to buy politicians who will strengthen pro-union laws even more.

Now, class, can we all say “serf”?

These look like a bunch of pampered children who will assume their positions at the bottom of the food chain when they become adults.

Hitler Youth on Steroids…………What’s it say that everyone reading DailyKos would have no problem putting Tea Party People into ovens? Things are going to get hairy, real soon. The recent Race attacks are the tip of the Iceberg…….

“Look, the least-informed and least-experienced members of our society support our plan!”

May not be *quite* as effective as hoped.

“And also, free candy and soda and no more homework!”

Merovign on August 10, 2011 at 4:38 PM

Assuming some subset of these kids will eventually overcome what must be a smarmy Volvo-and-tofu home lives (projecting the sort of parents who would allow their child to be exploited in such an exercise) and that they’re able to survive the relentless indoctrination of the their schools, and they grow up to hold sensible conservative beliefs. Knowing that they did this as a child will gnaw at them and make them cringe at themselves in embarrassment. This video will always be out there somewhere. Using children as political workers should be as illegal as using them as coal miners.

God, help me, but I hate liberals and wish they all burn in Hell.

I can’t strike out on all ten points, but let’s look at number 5. Pay everyone a living wage.

The unemployment rate shot up when the Democrats under Queen Nancy started raising the minimum wage. It was $5.15 before 2007, and is currently $7.25 per hour. What this has done is push millions of the youngest and least skilled out of the work force altogether. Was this the initial bump to raise unemployment as a strategy to get the Oval Office? Remember at that time unemployment was around 5% where it had been after President Bush got us out of the Clinton Dot-com crash around the time of 911. Anyway, the quickest and easiest way to push up unemployment numbers was raising the minimum wage to discourage small business from giving out entry level jobs. Perhaps having 50% of Black youth not working is OK with the Democrats, but it doesn’t lead to a stable life in the inner city.
