Video: Barney Frank signals, er, support for natural gas power

I need a break from heavy analysis of America’s economic and political woes, and I’m betting you do too. Thankfully, in our hour of darkest need we have riding to our rescue — Barney Frank. While Frank tried to discuss job creation on Rachel Maddow’s show last night, he gave a clue as to a great source of energy and economic expansion, or so people think:
I’ve received a few e-mails on this, but most of them linked back to conservative websites, which might not — call me crazy if you will — be inclined to give Frank the benefit of the doubt here. I followed the links back to Gawker, which appears to be the first site to notice it, and which cannot under any circumstances be considered sympathetic to the normal batch of Frank opponents. Gawker provides the definitive analysis of Frank’s literal shift to the left:
Since our economy is going to hell in a handbasket, why not distract yourself from the economic doom that is now upon us with this clip of Rep. Barney Frank letting out what sounded like a giant fart tonight while chatting with Rachel Maddow on MSNBC? As you’ll see, his hips most definitely don’t lie.
Actually, it surprises me that this kind of thing doesn’t happen more often on TV and radio. After all, everyone has the same basic internal gastronomical biology; as the famous children’s book states, Everyone Poops, and everyone passes gas, too. And … everyone seems to take delight when it happens except the person involved, it seems, especially when spun into an urban legend or two.
Rep. Frank will likely be chagrined to see this get, er, passed along, but perhaps he can take some comfort in the fact that he provided us with a badly-needed laugh today.
