Tea partier to McCain: You ready to apologize for that “hobbit” comment or what?

posted at 8:05 pm on August 9, 2011 by Allahpundit

The inevitable follow-up to McCain’s unexpected detour into the Shire on the Senate floor a few weeks ago. If you’re watching this because you think it’ll be funny to see McCain get peevish and squirm, then by all means: Proceed. If you’re watching this to revel in the glory of McCain begging for forgiveness, well, you might want to skip it. Mavericks don’t apologize, my friends (except for weaselly “sorry if you didn’t understand” non-apologies). Especially Mavericks who beat a challenger from the right in the primary last year and who are five years away from having to worry about reelection.

As I write this, we’re exactly one hour away from the polls closing in Wisconsin. Recall-geddon is almost upon us. Watch the clip, then clear your mind. Tonight will be bumpy.

I live in Texas, but the day after McVain’s commments, I called his Arizona office and let his staff know how I felt about his comments. I didn’t use foul language, but needless to say what I said to them so caught them off guard, they didn’t know how to respond.

I stand by what I told them.

madmonkphotog on August 9, 2011 at 8:25 PM

I would have phrased that question a little differently if I were face to face with McCain in a town hall meeting. Something along the lines of:

“Are you ready to apologize for calling me a hobbit?”

In other words, rather than keep it as an anonymous “hobbit comment”, make it personal with the person standing right there in front of him. He called ME a hobbit, is he ready to apologize to ME right here to my face? And how many other “hobbits” are there, too? Is he ready to apologize to all of us?

Make it personal. It puts an entirely different slant on the answer he gives.

I don’t care about any stinking apology. I wouldn’t believe it anyway. I listened to his BS speech at the convention about “fight, fight, fight” and then watched him throw Palin to the wolves and cower and shrink before the MSM and otherwise play out out his usual sado-masochistic self-loathing noble loser crap before attacking JD Hayworth with 10 times the fury he ever turned on Obama and then groveling to the right wing for six more years of his “maverick” sinecure in Washington, where he could then insult us at his convenience. Fark off, pal.

I spoke to a young man recently who told me that he will never forgive Sarah Palin for endorsing John McCain.

I’ll forgive her, because I understand that aside from having to work with the RNC, she felt that she owed him that. He did lift her into the national arena. But I prayed that he would lose.

This little exchange simply shows how right I was to have prayed. Clearly God has another plan for John McCain.
