Video: In memory of Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry

posted at 1:25 pm on August 3, 2011 by Tina Korbe

In December 2010, U.S. Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry was shot and killed in an armed confrontation with suspected criminals near Rio Rico, Ariz. Since then, the bang-up investigative work of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, led by California Republican Rep. Darrell Issa, has linked Terry’s murder to Operation Fast and Furious, the misguided and irresponsible program of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives to sell guns to straw purchasers in the vain hope of tracking the weapons into the hands Mexican drug lords. Little by little, Issa and others have uncovered details that suggest knowledge of the reckless operation reached as high as the White House.

But no congressional questioning and no administrative answering (or evading!) mitigates the tragedy of Terry’s death. Instinctively, Issa grasps that. Even in the midst of a series of heated hearings, his office has taken the time to draft legislation — The Brian A. Terry Memorial Act of 2011 — to rename the Bisbee, Ariz., Border Patrol station in honor of Terry. Today, the Committee also released this video to honor the man who, according to his family, “from the very start … loved his job as a Border Patrol Agent and loved his fellow agents.”

Thank you agent Terry for your service to our country. God bless you and your family.
Thank you Rep. Issa for all your efforts dealing with F&F and for re-naming the station in honor of agent Terry.

It is up to us – all of us – to honor this man, and see that every single person involved in the blatant illegality of “operation fast and furious” be brought to justice.

If that means bringing obama up on impeachment charges – so be it.

Thanks, Tina for posting this.

May Agent Terry’s soul rest in peace. Thanks to the Terry family who raised this man to be honoralble man that he was.

Thank you Rep. Issa for keeping the attention on this.

Wow. A very moving video, I hadn’t ever seen the guy before. He was certainly one bad dude and took his duty very seriously.

I would like to see those responsible for Operation Fast and Furious brought to justice as a result of Agent Terry’s death. It is the least that we can do. No more DOJ stonewalling–no more cryptic “you didn’t hear this from me” testimony–get the primary folks up there and let’s get it on.

thanks for sharing this video.

Let’s honor him by BRINGING JUSTICE back to the actual JUSTICE department.

And halting these crazy programs that lead to these tragedies, and punishing those responsible no matter how high the trail goes.

If only those in D.C. were worthy to wipe the dirt off these soldiers and BP agents shoes.

Thanks, Tina.

Honors for an honorable man. God bless his family as it carries on.

And Obama’s giving these guys beanbag guns, while his administration is arming the enemy.

Sickening.

God bless you, Agent Terry. My condolences to your family.

May Eric Holder go to jail for your murder and every other feckless bureaucrat in DC, who allowed you and others to be killed for their own political agendas. RIP.

We can honor the memory and service of Brian Terry by making sure that nobody else dies at the hand of a Gunwalker Weapon.

Where are the rest of the weapons?

What did Obama and Eric Holder know? When did they know it?

Congressman Issa; please redouble your efforts. Continue prodding, questioning, requestioning and clarifying. Reveal the facts and let them stand for themselves.

The Story of Brian Terry is just another one in the long line of bad government policies. Here stood an honorable and talented border agent–just doing his job, pulling his weight–probably 100% and then some. Along comes some wisenheimer with a great idea on stopping gun sales in the US, and Agent Terry winds up paying the price for it. Now, the wisenheimer brainstems that cooked up this cockamamie plan aren’t saying much…..Please change that.

I am in awe of Agent Terry and others like him. What an unnecessary tragic loss for our country. This brings tears to my eyes. I hope Issa keeps going after the ones responsible, and it is time to fully focus on the Fast and Furious catastrophe. It has been lost in all the hoopla of the debt crisis.

I can’t watch it, this stuff enrages me to the point…I’ll just shut up.

wheelgun on August 3, 2011 at 2:31 PM

It’s bad enough knowing your child, brother, husband, friend was murdered. It’s quite another thing to find that your own countries government is complicit in it. Even your President had a hand in it. Of that, I’ve no doubts.

My prayers for the soul of Brian Terry, and my thoughts and prayers to his family and friends. I hope they can find peace, and especially justice. They deserve nothing less for their hero…for our hero.

capejasmine on August 3, 2011 at 2:45 PM

I’m furious that a good man died because of our own government and its shady dealings. Fast & Furious is just one part of this appalling story. Equally nauseating is knowing that the Justice Dept is also prosecuting state governments that try to enforce the very laws border patrol agents give their lives to enforce.

texabama on August 3, 2011 at 2:55 PM

So, Issa, how about showing the same courage. Nevermind the “moving” video, just do your job. When Breitbart takes the Pigford story to you in a neat box and sealed with a bow, don’t tell Rep. Steve King that “you’re afraid of being called a racist” by the media. And don’t think the work on Fast and Furious ends with a memorial. Let’s see if you have the mettle to take it to the top and bring down a President. We’re watching.

rrpjr on August 3, 2011 at 3:15 PM

May God bless Brian Terry, and may He comfort his family.

It enrages me that Agent Terry and so many other LE officers and civilians in Mexico have lost their lives due to the criminally reckless political manuevering of this corrupt and incompetent administration. The American people deserve answers, and we deserve them now. If Eric Holder and his minions continue to stonewall, then they need to spend time down here in AZ in a federal prison.

AZCoyote on August 3, 2011 at 3:24 PM

Killed by the very people he was defending and protecting…losing an American like that is always a loss.
Issa will fight to see that he is properly honored, and the perpetrators are brought to justice.

RIP Agent and Marine Terry. May justice prevail.

“Never let it be said that I was not a warrior.”

Are you kidding? We humbly bow our heads in awe.

There was a book written a few years ago attesting to the amazing valor and will of the people of this country that fought WWII. We have men and women to our right and left living with us now, that would be great in any generation.

Salutes!

Expendable Americans…what else is new?

Dr. ZhivBlago on August 3, 2011 at 6:18 PM

Operation Fast and Furious, the misguided and irresponsible program of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives to sell guns to straw purchasers in the vain now-dashed hope of tracking the destroying the second amendment by demonstrating how the government must outlaw now-legal weapons because those weapons are somehow getting into the hands Mexican drug lords.

What Operation Fast and Furious was really intended to do, let there be no doubt this was a false-flag operation, “below the radar” as Bammie told Sarah Brady, to play on the emotions of the US citizenry to accept additional draconian gun legislation.

AZfederalist on August 3, 2011 at 10:13 PM

It is absolutely outrageous there have not been any arrests holding those in charge of selling weapons illegally.

This MUST be pursued.
