I almost went wobbly on Cain as my VP choice since he apologized to muslims for his very correct remarks a few weeks ago, but I’ll give him one more chance.

Cindy Munford on July 31, 2011 at 7:33 PM

California gay activist Fred Karger.

If you’ve never heard of him, you’re not nearly alone.

KingGold on July 31, 2011 at 7:34 PM

Where are the results from the last one?

katy on July 31, 2011 at 7:34 PM

Sarah, Sarah…storms are brewing in your eyes.

BruthaMan on July 31, 2011 at 7:36 PM

You could have included the other option for the presidential question. I still firmly believe that the GOP nominee has not yet entered the ring. You seem to be really pushing Sarah Palin. Does HOTAiR have an agenda? Two questions where she is one of two candidates. Really that’s too much, and not very objective. I don’t want a failed reality star as my president. Just look at Reykjavik.

Tommy_G on July 31, 2011 at 7:36 PM

It’s going to be Perry/Palin or Palin/Perry.

There’s NO ONE out there who has the balls to take this monster called Washington on with both barrels LOADED FOR BEAR!!!!!!

Tommy_G on July 31, 2011 at 7:36 PM

I think it has to do with the very large contingent of Palin supporters on HA. I’m sure if another candidate had the level of support on here that Palin does – you could insert their name in place of hers.

Just my two cents.

Cindy Munford on July 31, 2011 at 7:44 PM

Herman Cain easily won the Western Conservative Summit presidential straw poll Sunday, drawing 246 ballots out of 508 cast and beating his nearest runner-up by a 179-vote margin.

Second-place contender Rick Perry took 67 votes, or 13 percent, to Cain’s 48 percent. In third place was Rick Santorum with 50 ballots, or just under 10 percent, followed by Mitt Romney with 49 ballots and Michele Bachmann with 44.

Perhaps most striking about the poll is the minimal level of interest in the rest of the Republican field. Beyond the top five contenders — Cain, Perry, Santorum, Romney and Bachmann — only John Bolton and Ron Paul cracked double digits, with 20 ballots and 12 ballots, respectively.

Tim Pawlenty drew seven votes, Sarah Palin drew five, Newt Gingrich drew three and Thaddeus McCotter drew two. Jon Huntsman and Gary Johnson earned one vote each, as did non-candidate Paul Ryan. Nobody voted for Rudy Giuliani

portlandon on July 31, 2011 at 7:39 PM

She has not declared a candidacy. My agenda, was originally pushing Mitch Daniels, but he has not yet decided to run. As I said in my post (you must have missed that and zeroed in on the Palin comment), “I still firmly believe that the GOP nominee has not yet entered the ring.” You too seem to be very selective.

Tommy_G on July 31, 2011 at 7:46 PM

I think the ticket will either be Romney/Kasich or Perry/Kasich, but mark my words, John Kasich will be VP pick.

PatMac on July 31, 2011 at 7:47 PM

One suggestion on the self-identification, maybe add a ‘libertarian leaning’ conservative category, because I suspect it’s a pretty large group in the HA readership, including me. And also maybe “social conservative” or something instead of “very conservative”. I actually consider libertarians to be much more conservative than either the ‘religious right’ or ‘neo-cons’.

Rubio’s a superstar but I don’t think 2012 is his year yet. For one thing, I don’t think Obama has a chance in Florida and Ohio will be the big battleground state next year. If Kasich’s budget solutions work and his popularity holds up, he’ll be a lock as Ohio’s favorite son. Executive experience plus years on the House budget committee will make for an attractive resume next year.
