Great news from Van Jones: America is not broke

posted at 8:52 pm on July 5, 2011 by Allahpundit

An ironic bookend to that Richard Cohen column I linked earlier accusing the GOP of being a “cult” that can’t face unpleasant realities. Look out here for actual chanting about how allegedly un-broke we are. (Even The One is more reality-based than that.) You’ve seen this schtick before — remember Michael Moore’s disgusting speech in Wisconsin about the “400 little Mubaraks” who have stolen “our” money? — but watch it anyway to see how slippery Jones is with the actual numbers. Turns out there’s “a lot” of wealth out there that could be used to reduce the deficit; not enough wealth to keep up with a metastasizing government, especially with entitlement spending set to explode, but still, it’s “a lot.” No need to sweat the details.

James Poulos says it better than me:

In the wake of David Brooks’ instantly infamous column calling Republicans an abnormal party on account of its tax-cut fatalism, it’s just about time for someone to declare the Democratic party deeply abnormal as a result of its (let’s be frank) moronic fatalism on entitlements. I know for a fact that many liberals are not, in point of fact, morons. That makes it all the more disturbing that their party insists, as a matter of political principle and whatever the consequences, that the federal government expand without limit the reach and comprehensiveness of its entitlement regime.

Hands confidently agrip at the wheel of a malfunctioning rocketship on fire, they smile grandly at the twirling dials as they shoot past the ionosphere. If there is a gas pedal on this rocketship, they are flooring it. They are very much in control.

Indeed. Oh, before I forget: This clip is brought to you by MoveOn.org, which once produced an ad attacking George Bush for the size of his deficits. No joke.

Hey Van, is Greece broke? If so, explain to me how the model you would like for the US doesn’t contain the same flaws that has brought them to the brink. If not, seek help. Actually, seek help anyway.

Thanks Glenn, if it was not for him Jones will still be in the White house, saying things like this and the MSM would be parroting it as true. Now he is back preaching to the choir and not much more.

tjexcite on July 5, 2011 at 9:18 PM

Isn’t it funny. America is not broke because, damn it, there are still people out there with money that the government could and should seize. See, he’s right, there is actually an endless supply of money for government if they’d just quit playing games and take it from people already.

The funny thing is that these people are the “moderates” and the tea party is extreme. Unbelievable.

Van Jones is a barely transparent little Nazi; he wouldn’t blink an eye at the idea of dragging people into reeducation camps while overseeing it all from his Karinhall headquarters.

If we ever do reach a point where society starts to dissolve around us, Van Jones will be at the head of a mob, throwing people from their homes and burning everything in sight.

America isn’t broke yet, (tho damn close) the GOVERNMENT is broke A-HOLE because it spends more than it takes in.

Alden Pyle on July 5, 2011 at 9:31 PM

There wasn’t a man voting for it who didn’t think that under a setup of this kind he’d muscle in on the profits of the men abler than himself.

But while he was thinking that he’d get uneared benefits from the men above, he forgot about the men below who’d get unearned benefits, too. He forgot about all his inferiors who’d rush to drain him just as he hoped to drain his superiors. The worker who liked the idea that his need entitled him to a limousine like his boss’s, forgot that every bum and beggar on earth would come howling that their need entitled them to an icebox like his own.

That was our real motive when we voted – that was the truth of it – but we didn’t like to think it, so the less we liked it, the louder we yelled about our love for the common good.

Except from Atlas Shrugged by Ayn Rand

This what people forget – that when the property rights of the “The Rich” are forfeit, there is nothing to say that anyone else’s property rights are protected.

If the government has the right to take the property of someone else – property that means someone’s sweat and labor – then the government has the right to take your property, it has the right to take your sweat and labor.

Van Jones Is Creating the Milli Vanilli of Tea Parties
Posted Jun 25th 2011 at 4:01 pm
********************************

Truther, Self-described communist, and former Obama Green Jobs Czar Van Jones has a new mission, to start a progressive version of the Tea Party movement. Just like the real tea party, the Van Jones creation is based on economics. There are major differences though, being a progressive movement its basic premise is a lie, and instead of being a bottom up grass roots organization like the tea party, the Van Jones version is top down similar to the progressive philosophy that everything must be run by a central government.

The Van Jones “tea party” is called “The American Dream Movement.” Jones is says he is forming the movement because liberal activists expressed frustration that they lacked the political power or media focus given to the conservative tea-party movement.
Does he really want the same media focus? That means his group will be known by some sort of sexual reference, slandered with untrue charges of racism or violence, and of course the official mainstream media attendance tally for any demonstration will equal one tenth of one percent of the real number.
A big theme of the Van Jones effort is Americans are being lied to, the federal government is not running out of money.

“We are being lied to,” Jones said. “We are not broke. We’re the richest country in the history of the world.”
———————————————————

The “Rebuild the Dream” website once echoed the same meme. “MoveOn Civic Action; The Other 98% teamed up to keep the message going: We Are Being Lied To,” read the movement’s mission statement on rebuildthedream.com. “The country isn’t broke and the last thing we should be doing is gutting workers’ rights and cutting vital services American families depend on.”

“America is not Broke. Yet”

/

At no time in History has the State of this Nation been under such an open and blatant attack. Not just on our Soveriegnty but also upon our Moral Fabric.

At no time in our History have we failed to come to the Aid of Our Nation. If we do, we will be branded as… Racist.

A movement that has existed for centuries is preparing to take us over. It is so openly and outwardly displaying their intention that it has begun to proudly to envelope themselves in the flags of communism and socialism.

Let us not devolve into what these Socialists wish us to be. We, as Americans have been provoked and prodded before. We are Execeptional.

THEY are provoking us into making a choice.

I have made mine.

I have been becoming Republican over the last five years. I still felt I should have some independent leanings, that given my remaining agreements with the Democrats on some issues, I should have a slight hesitancy about identifying as a Republican. Van Jones cleared it all up for me. I almost feel transformed. Nothing is clearer to me than that Van Jones and his ilk must be defeated if we want to live in an interesting country. I suppose I will still be called a RINO, and I will even tauntingly call myself a RINO, but it’s not true. I’m a fervent Republican.

So long as anyone (themselves excluded, of course) has more money than the likes of Van Jones and Michael Moore think they should, the country isn’t broke- it’s simply failing to collect enough.

This guys is a piece of sh*t.
His appeal to the crowd is “We were robbed!” – and to make that argument he somehow pronounces guilt on Wall Street for being compensated (his word)144 billion this year. He follows with the statement that extending the Bush tax cuts is “handing the people at the top 42 Billion dollars every fiscal year”. Hey Van, how exactly were you and your friends robbed if you never earned the money in the first place? You need to learn the definition of the word compensated before you use it in one of your speeches.
