Two top talkers in the Twitterverse on Michele Bachmann

posted at 8:08 pm on June 29, 2011 by Tina Korbe

A good find by Katie Pavlich at our sister site, Townhall.com. Stacy Kerr, a top aide to House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, today defended GOP presidential candidate Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.) on Twitter.

“Bachmann — she’d never get my vote, but she has my ire at how the media is treating her,” Kerr tweeted. “they’d never treat a man like this week of announcement.”

Is Kerr right? Does Bachmann face a double standard? Well, would Alec Baldwin tweet this about a man (h/t The DC Morning)?

Fear Bachman bc she is raising so much money. Anyone that inarticulate and full of s*** who is raising money that fast … is beholden to some mighty thuggish interests.

Eh, it’s Alec Baldwin. Probably he would. He’s no Jason Alexander, a self-described “die-hard Dem” who once tweeted his respect for Bachmann’s fellow frontrunner, former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, that’s for sure.

P.S. It really bugs me that Baldwin doesn’t know how to spell Bachmann.

Wasn’t Baldwin supposed to move to a different country after 2000?

Roy Rogers on June 29, 2011 at 8:12 PM

And this is worthy of taking a spot on The Blog for what reason?

It really bugs me that Baldwin doesn’t know how to spell Bachmann.

It’s all he can do to spell Baldwin.

I prefer the fat bloated picture of Alec Baldwin. It matches his personality far better.

mizflame98 on June 29, 2011 at 8:14 PM

Does Bachmann face a double standard?

No. She’s treated the same as any of the other Republican candidates from the extreme end of the party. If she gets more attention, it’s because she has a relatively higher profile than someone like Rick Santorum.

RightOFLeft on June 29, 2011 at 8:14 PM

Oh, please, Tina. Give us a current fat picture of Alex.

Unless, of course, you truly aren’t conservatuve….

He’s an embarrassment to my gender.

Wait a second…Bachmann is Nancy Pelosi’s Enemy Number One and Pelosi’s aide is bleeding in public over slights suffered by Michele Bachmann? Doesn’t that sound kind of…weird? And Bachmann’s gone through some sort of unprecendented abuse from the media this week? Sheeesh.

Germans, what with their two n’s!

Sgt Steve on June 29, 2011 at 8:28 PM

A sitting senator, little Dick Durbin, in a hearing on Tuesday, blathered that an illegal alien, undocumented worker in the shadows with their personhood for you, may become president.
Now that brings up all kinds of jokes, but being concerned what a bloated bag of has-been bile tweets about our conservative candidates is an even bigger joke. When did this place turn into Access Hollywood?

Yup. I don’t buy it either. Pelosi’s aide is trying to stoke the fire between the Bachmann and Palin camps. Silent on Palin, empathy for Bachmann.

Pelosi hates Bachmann. I don’t believe for one second that this aide thinks Bachmann is being mistreated by the press. He wants to divide and conquer. His defense of Bachmann is meant to tweak Palin.

The Great Progressive Exodus Threat!
===================================

“Some Cynical Guy” No. 25: January 26, 2001
Democratic Celebrities In Exile
*********************************
**********************************

Chronically overrated film director Robert Altman threatened to do it. So did Alec Baldwin, the temperamental movie idol and soon-to-be former Mr. Kim Basinger. Tim Robbins and Susan Sarandon, Hollywood’s First Couple of Fashionable Leftist Causes, promised to do it. Ditto for actors Martin Sheen, Matt Damon (but not Ben Affleck), Whoopi Goldberg, Rosie O’Donnell and the ever-pugnacious Ed Asner. Barbra Streisand threatened to do it eight years ago. Former JFK press secretary Pierre Salinger is actually doing it now. What are these symbols of socially progressive celebrityhood contemplating? No, they’re not rushing to the defense of yet another wrongly incarcerated Native American activist with two murders to his credit. They’re not plotting to kidnap Charlton Heston’s gun collection or even his toupees. Here’s what they’re up to: Each of them, at some point during the last presidential campaign, threatened to leave the country if a man named Bush entered the White House.

Promises, promises. Old Man Salinger is making good on his word by relocating to France, but what about the others? Do we need to jog their fallible memories by replaying the relevant sound bites? Or should we conveniently forget their pledges to leave our midst if Bush the Younger triumphed over Mr. Gore? Apparently it’s easy to talk of self-exile and a little harder to actually give up that $10 million hacienda in the Hollywood Hills.

Think about it: After World War I an entire generation of American writers and artists abandoned these shores for the bohemian life in France,

If our conscience-stricken Democratic celebrities could set up a colony in exile, say in the south of France or — better yet — somewhere in eastern Uzbekistan, they’d be free from the backward ideologies and the burden of earning untold millions in an unenlightened republic. Tim Robbins and Susan Sarandon could host unforgettable evening revels for their left-leaning colleagues. Whoopi Goldberg and Rosie O’Donnell would keep the place in stitches — after all, they’d be among folks who actually find them funny.

I’m sorry, but Twitter is just a waste of time.

The only time Twitter is even remotely interesting is for entertainment purposes, such as when a drunk pro-athlete or a spaced-out actor sends out a statement so insulting or startlingly stupid that it shocks the senses.

Captain Kirock on June 29, 2011 at 10:01 PM

This post is kind of light on substance, no?

RightOFLeft on June 29, 2011 at 8:14 PM

Bingo. Anytime anyone screams “sexism” regarding female Republicans, Santorum is a perfect example. Look what “they” did to him! I usually use Quayle, Bork, and Reagan, but Santorum was brutalized. It’s not the gender, it’s the conservatism.

Baldwin reinforces that liberalism is a mental disorder. His attack on Bachman was lame when compared his vicious attack on his, at the time, 12 year old daughter.
