Janeane Garofalo: Hey, let’s make Weiner mayor of New York

posted at 7:15 pm on June 11, 2011 by Allahpundit

Yeah, why not? He’s completely untrustworthy, crippled by tragically poor judgment, willing to lie to an almost pathological extent to cover up his transgressions, and fully prepared to smear his political enemies if he thinks he can profit from it. He’s narcissistic, nasty, and yet somehow so insecure that showing him idle flattery on Twitter might earn you a photo of his nob. Oh, and by his own admission, he’s apparently unfit for work in the private sector. So then: Why not let him run the country’s biggest city? More power, not less. Because he is, after all, a fightin’ liberal, which clearly impresses sophisticated progressive Janeane Garofalo. He fights. He never really wins or achieves much by doing so — his weakness as a legislator is one of the reasons Democrats have been so willing to run him over — but he hates those wingnuts and isn’t shy about saying so, which is reason enough to let him govern America’s financial nerve center. Skip ahead to 3:00 and drink this in, bearing in mind that she’s hardly alone in her Weiner admiration, even now, among the lefty base.

She gets a smattering of applause from Maher’s audience too, of course, just as a reminder that there really is no idea so stupid that they won’t cheer for it. Exit quotation from an incisive Matt Lewis, who succeeds in perfectly, er, sizing Weiner up: “Being a political rock star isn’t what he does for a job — it’s who he is.”

Why not? Dems voted for Barry who used cocaine with a hooker in a hotel room. Relatively speaking, the weiner thing is very mild….he could probably run for president.

This is one of these cases where I don’t feel sorry for anyone except Andrew Breitbart, whose trust was so foully betrayed by a pair of shock jocks with no morals.

Is Huma innocent? I don’t think it’s possible for anyone to work for Hillary for so long and become so close to the Clintons without a large dollop of ideological sleaze. She’s a very attractive woman. She could chose almost anyone. Why marry a known liar and weasel whom she knows has sexting problems unless she is using him for political gain? This is the guy she wants to sleep with and be the father to her children? This woman has a cold heart.

with #t=180s telling the video to start at 3 minutes (180 seconds) in.

This whole inflated weiner affair has finally got a silver lining. whatcat showed me a cool youtube trick. Thanks, that is neat.

Why does that woman always look constipated?

Why does that woman always look constipated?

Scotsman on June 11, 2011 at 11:27 PM

Because she is a hateful, sad, sick little soul with a very small heart. I like seeing her out there though. She embodies the true nature of the liberal. Look to her and you’ll see what they all feel but might not be willing to actually say.

hawkdriver on June 11, 2011 at 11:30 PM

Dear Allah,

So if Weiner stays, does this mean we should start calling Congress “Nob Hill”?

Dr. Charles G. Waugh on June 11, 2011 at 11:33 PM

Stupidism. Straight up.

DrZin on June 11, 2011 at 11:55 PM

So the non-Oscar winning Janeane
wants the next Mayor of NY
to be a Wiener

docjohn52 on June 12, 2011 at 12:13 AM

Is this really Hot Air or a comedy writers convention?

News2Use on June 11, 2011 at 10:09 PM

This is Hot Air.

The comedy, however, writes itself.

Tim_CA on June 12, 2011 at 12:14 AM

and for the third time today…I badly screw up the formatting.

I humbly surrender.

Hizzoner Weiner…

Yeah, that’s the ticket…

Khun Joe on June 12, 2011 at 12:57 AM

Why do people ask this putrid pre-sapien her opinion on anything?

Anybody on earth with 2 working brain cells that’s heard her opine on anything just once can tell you what her opinion will be, at least, the general answer.

The only thing that ever changes is the mental contortions she uses to explain/justify her opinion, but you always know who and what she’ll be for or against.

The woman’s about as deep as a bottle cap and only half as smart.

SuperCool on June 12, 2011 at 1:18 AM

SuperCool on June 12, 2011 at 1:18 AM

Anyone who is willing to justify action or tote the line is undeniably a savant. But this is nothing you don’t know, and the credit you give in turn of the bottle cap is most restrained sir, upon meeting I will buy you a coke.

Seriously though, the Jerafelos need to be called out and observed for the learning impaired foot gum that they are….

A base of people willing to tune in to hear what they say. Unfortunately, that’s the only measure that determine how much coverage they get.

Count to 10 on June 12, 2011 at 6:40 AM

Why does anyone even care what this fool Garofalo says or thinks anymore? You know that whatever it is, it is going to be over-the-top idiotic, so why even bother giving her coverage?

pilamaye on June 12, 2011 at 8:16 AM

I’m expecting to see Garofalo pushing a 6′ wooden woman around in a wheel chair soon.

Fallon on June 12, 2011 at 9:03 AM

Clicked on the video and got this message:

“This video is no longer available because the account associated with the video has been terminated.”

It must be getting awfully crowded down in that memory hole.

Garafalo isn’t alone sadly. This is from today’s post:

“You’re a great man,” one woman told him. “I support you. We all support you — Forest Hills. All New York is going to make sure you are the next mayor.

But all opposition to the President is racist and conservatives have a specific mental impairment.
Right Janeane?

Some people apologized for Micheal Vick’s dog fighting obsession too. If you merely fit into the right category there’s always an excuse.

Speakup on June 12, 2011 at 9:53 AM

So if Weiner stays, does this mean we should start calling Congress “Nob Hill”?

Dr. Charles G. Waugh on June 11, 2011 at 11:33 PM

Whenever the Speaker (or whoever is Chairing the House session at the time) sees that Weiner is standing and seeking to be recognized, they should simply say:

“Why does the Member from New York rise?” . . . and the Republicans should all bust out laughing.

Now is the time to begin ridiculing him. He has caused a stench, and the Democrat leadership is inadequate to the task of forcing him out of Congress.

I respectfully disagree with others who complain about pointing out comments like those of Janeane Garofalo. People really do need to be reminded just HOW nuts many of the folks on the other side of the political spectrum are, including the passel of morons in the entertainment business who can’t resist playing jackass whenever someone turns on the lights.

Also who doesn’t need a good belly laugh every once in a while, especially in these trying times? Too bad the clip no longer works . . . I need another good laugh today.

Trochilus on June 12, 2011 at 10:01 AM

Just reading this, I haven’t read the comments. Mr. Pundit, the opposition candidate for mayor should just pay you for your first paragraph. Devastating. And very funny.

Cindy Munford on June 12, 2011 at 10:13 AM

Janeane Garofalo: Hey, let’s make Weiner mayor of New York

This is your brain on drugs liberalism.

rukiddingme on June 12, 2011 at 10:38 AM

Certainly! He is at least a big a hypocrite and ideologue as Bloomberg. Would play well on the Upper East Side!

pgrossjr on June 12, 2011 at 11:50 AM

Mayor Weiner?

Let’s consider the upside.

Little Anthony could spend a full four year term pursuing his “hobbies.”

How would that be any worse than spending four years conducting jihads on the salt shakers in your local restaurants and the cigarette smokers in your local parks?

Garofalo… you are a disgrace to Italian Americans
afotia on June 11, 2011 at 8:16 PM

I hear ya and as an American Italian myself I have said several times how she’s a disgrace to Italians! She’s obviously just Italian in name…just a wanna-be Italian!

The only thing she proves whenever she opens her pie-hole is how blinded from the truth she is due to her militant adherence to her ideology so much so she can’t see the truth in front of her face! She’s just an ignorant skank and deep down she knows this to be true and that’s why she’s always so angry, she hates heself and has to try and bring down her adversaries to make her feel better about her own pathetic life…she’s mentally ill and needs help!

Liberty or Death on June 12, 2011 at 2:46 PM

Does anyone really give a Shiite about anything that Garofalo says? She’s a D-lister whose relevant only to other D-listers. I’m happy to have self-loathing haters with a bad case of intolerance as the public face of the Democrats. By all means, let her talk.

College Prof on June 12, 2011 at 3:27 PM

But with Weiner’s reputation in ruins, other lucrative jobs may be hard to get.
“He would most likely have to go to friends in the business sector, but he doesn’t have a financial background,” said political consultant Joseph Mercurio.

I can easily see Weiner doing “ShamWow!” commercials!

DSchoen on June 12, 2011 at 5:40 PM

Janeane Garofalo is the only person who believes that Janeane Garofalo is still relevant. (And frankly, she’s got to be starting to doubt. Hasn’t has a job since “24″.)

Oh yeah, she’s a rock star. Not…

realitycheck on June 12, 2011 at 8:37 PM

One who is billed as a comic who is not funny is usually pathetic.

Yeah, Janeane, too.

TimBuk3 on June 12, 2011 at 10:22 PM

Geeze!

Why do you listen to this old diseased cow?

CrazyFool on June 13, 2011 at 12:50 AM

tommer74 on June 11, 2011 at 10:48 PM

They said the same thing about G.W. Bush – that he used cocaine before he was Presdient. I doubt both “stories”

LODGE4 on June 13, 2011 at 7:16 AM

When those like Garofalo, who are certifiably insane, become remotely relevant, the concept of reality begins to wane.
