Video: Media all over transparency story involving … a non-governmental official
posted at 2:45 pm on June 10, 2011 by Ed Morrissey
The way that MSNBC coos over the story of Sarah Palin’s e-mails from her time as governor, one might think they were perusing Anthony Weiner’s Twitter feed. Not a chance, because if they did that, the media might actually find something. Instead, Andrea Mitchell and Michael Isikoff give the palette of paper the breaking-news treatment, complete with a “DEVELOPING NOW” logo, as if emails from the Alaska government from 2009 and earlier were the hottest story facing the nation:
Visit msnbc.com for breaking news, world news, and news about the economy
Of course, there really isn’t any news in this, not since Alaska announced days ago that they would release the data. The live-camera action of the cart being rolled out the door is simply gripping, of course, but it does give Isikoff and Mitchell a chance to note that the media has dedicated heavy coverage of the event, which involves someone who so far isn’t in public office nor running for public office. Wait until the end, when Mitchell and Isikoff chuckle as they read a statement from SarahPAC stating that the e-mails will show “a governor hard at work.” “We’ll see,” laughs Isikoff.
Well, that’s more than they promised after Anthony Weiner tweeted his underwear-clad genitalia. But he’s just a member of Congress, so why should they be interested in transparency there?
Update (AP): How bad is it? This bad.

What Gov. Palin’s emails will also show:

She’s done now…
the_nile on June 10, 2011 at 4:59 PM
No, they’ll run stories about how she’s manipulating and controlling the press.
She’s so diabolical and Machiavellian, don’tcha know?
SteveMG on June 10, 2011 at 5:00 PM
Palin ends her email messages with “Regards” rather than “Respectfully.” Obviously, she respects nothing but her own voracious appetite for power.

She and Perry would make a great team, he turned down the stimulus money designed to create jobs, then went on to actually create jobs and take jobs from CA through his policies.

I’m sure Howie Kurtz has some deep insight as to what this means to the state of journolism in America.

“Well, there was nothing incriminating because she wrote all the bad stuff on her hand.”

DrAllecon on June 10, 2011 at 5:02 PM
Palin frequently uses bullet points in her email messages. Clearly, she seeks to incite deadly violence against her political opponents.
idesign on June 10, 2011 at 5:02 PM
Yup. It’s interesting to see who’s NOT here. All we have are 3rd string trolls.
katy the mean old lady on June 10, 2011 at 5:03 PM
Obviously the Dems agree with many Conservatives that Palin is totally unqualified and unelectable, otherwise they’d make a big deal about her released emails as governor of Alaska or something.

I didn’t realize that emails from other people were being gone through.
I wonder if they are passing up this opportunity to make a nice List of everybody who likes her and wrote her, for if it might someday come in handy?

It’s impossible to express how much I hate these people.

“Why would they embarass themselves by searching all those e-mails when it’s clear they’ll come up with nothing to show for it? I haven’t seen this much hype that’s bound to not deliver since some loser was opening up Capone’s vault.”

It may be time for Sarah to request a restraining order on angry, decrepit Andrea Mitchell. Something obviously ain’t right in that Democrat media hack’s head.
Ever since Angry-a Mitchell’s famous stalking and rush at Sarah at the book signing table (brandishing the Newsweak track suit cover issue) the increasing psychosis and monomania of Mzzz. Alan Greenspan becomes readily apparent.

All this the day after Politico writers made up a quote and attributed it to Palin. nice job guys! They call themselves journalists. Just call yourselves the propaganda specialists for the Democratic Party. Politico is no longer a website I’ll be visiting. Who own Politico again? Another sad day for journalism, there have been so many lately.

In other less important news today, Obama’s approval rating in Gallup drops 5 points since last week and is now 1 point less than the disapproval rate. 45% approve, 46% disapprove. But you know that is nothing compared to emails about tanning beds in Alaska 3 years ago.
txmomof6 on June 10, 2011 at 5:29 PM
BTW, Stephen Bannon will be on Hannity tonight to discuss The Undefeated. I’m sure the media dumpster dive will come up.
steebo77 on June 10, 2011 at 5:29 PM
Some of them are complaining about the method of presentation.
They think the state should have created an online database, or let them download them all from their HQs in DC and NYC.
Instead, the poor bastards had to actually travel to Juneau, Alaska and gather at the State Admin Building to take delivery of 5 boxes of paper weighing 55 lbs each, for each media organization.
That is hilarious, kinda reminds me of July 2009 when they all wound up in her backyard, then had to follow her another 450 miles to the Dillingham fishing camp to get any interviews. Andrea Mitchell in that rubber fisherman getup on the Palin’s boat was priceless.
If she was President, the White House Press Corpse would be grateful for Crawford Texas in August, compared to Wasilla Alaska in Jan-Feb.
How many of them would be searching all over town for a tanning bed? lol

Last I heard a tipsy Dan Rather faxed in some fuzzy “CYA Memos” from a Kinko’s in Lubbock and claims those are about Sarah’s shenanigans with the Alaska National Guard. Dan swears he got them directly from Colonel Potter of the 4077th… or so he yelled as the men in the white coats dragged him away.

Maybe this will all backfire if conservative media can actually use the emails to paint a picture of her actually being more than adequate as a governor, vp candidate, wife and mom – all the while being mercilessly hunted like a mama grizzly! It would be like she was a real person, or something! Wouldn’t that be da bomb!
My only worry is what would that do for Levi’s book coming out.
