Most patients with his diagnosis deny being mentally ill, happens every day. And yes they can be very violent.

Yes they have to admit they have a problem. And don’t pin it on someone else. Just like AA. My job drove one of my bosses off a deep end. Let’s just say she had to be picked up-while I was listening to her ranting and freaky laugh over the phone.

Some of them do very well on medication. Others deny the illness and keep going off the medication. Still others never get a good response from the meds. The side effects can be horrid, the new meds are fabulously expensive.

Also please consider that most people with this diagnosis are not dangerous at all.

Or are you a mental health professional with different experiences?

Mental health PATIENT. For more than 10 years. So yeah I know all about anti-depressants; one of them triggered epilepsy. About the side effects? Absolutelyfriggin’ right. What’s worse, I can’t seem to get off of them no matter how hard I try-there’s no issue that causes me to be depressed.

It doesn’t matter one iota what conditions he has or thinks he has, or what conditions that you think he has. You can’t worm out of a conviction because you weren’t thinking straight due to drugs or booze, and it shouldn’t matter if you’re a headcase when sober. The ONLY thing that truly matters is what crime(s) he’s committed!

Where I come from this crap doesn’t fly. If you put this putz with the general population where I come from, he’d be cut like kabob and flushed down the toilet.

Yep; they call it ‘housecleaning’. It’s why some prisoners have to be sheltered from general population…their deeds are seen as so horrific that even other convicted murderers will gang up to do what society won’t.

Ours is still a civilization, and the goal is justice, not vengeance.

It’s a sad time in the nation’s history when I have more faith in prisoners to uphold justice than The System which kept Loughner out on the streets even after the community college problems which preceded the shootings.

The question is, should the dysfunctional mentally ill be on the same level as sex offenders? In my eyes maybe some people believe “they can be fixed” but I don’t.

Like Kennedy I have a “thing” for the mentally ill. PDS is another acronym for it/

I am gonna write this: He said he’s not guilty but he’s insane in order to stand trial? Give me a break. If someone perforated Mr. PPF’s skull and then claim innocence, I’d raise heck to the media about the slim chance of Loughner never get put away forever, or put down for a nice eternal nap.
