Quotes of the day

posted at 10:25 pm on May 24, 2011 by Allahpundit

“Shortly after Republicans swept last November to a historic victory in which Sarah Palin was credited with playing a central role, the former Alaska governor pulled aside her close aide, Rebecca Mansour, to discuss a hush-hush assignment: Reach out to conservative filmmaker Stephen K. Bannon with a request. Ask him if he would make a series of videos extolling Palin’s governorship and laying to rest lingering questions about her controversial decision to resign from office with a year-and-a-half left in her first term. It was this abdication, Palin knew, that had made her damaged goods in the eyes of some Republicans who once were eager to get behind her potential 2012 presidential campaign…

“The fruits of that initial conversation are now complete. The result is a two-hour-long, sweeping epic, a rough cut of which Bannon screened privately for Sarah and Todd Palin last Wednesday in Arizona, where Alaska’s most famous couple has been rumored to have purchased a new home. When it premieres in Iowa next month, the film is poised to serve as a galvanizing prelude to Palin’s prospective presidential campaign — an unconventional reintroduction to the nation that she and her political team have spent months eagerly anticipating, even as Beltway Republicans have largely concluded that she won’t run…

“‘This film is a call to action for a campaign like 1976: Reagan vs. the establishment,’ Bannon told RealClearPolitics. ‘Let’s have a good old-fashioned brouhaha.’…

“If she does decide to run, ‘The Undefeated’ will be the key element to her initial coming-out party. The film’s impending release — and the frenzied media attention that it is sure to generate — will serve as a vivid wake-up call that despite the many obstacles in front of her, Palin’s entry into the race would turn the campaign on its head in an instant, just as it did in 2008.

“As she mulls her decision in the coming weeks, the other Republican candidates in the field will be left to prepare for a hibernating grizzly who appears poised to rise up once again.”

petunia is just full of kind words:

She does not walk on water either.

And I think she is weird.

Your devotion to Palin is sick, by the way.

But your infatuation with her has blinded you to her flaws.

I can’t imagine how someone with her lack of experience in everything is going to do any better than Obama is doing in foreign policy!

She hates people who know anything about anything.

She has a blind spot to thinking people who have experience or education

You have not a shred of love for this country.

I don’t see Palin as all that honest either really. I don’t even like her well enough to track all the stuff.
But I remember she was pretty dishonest

I don’t know that I’d buy a car from her.

I can’t imagine how she seems so honest to you.

I think you all must feel sorry for her. Like she’s the ugly duckling running for homecomming queen. I really don’t understand why people are so nuts for her. She is nothing special.

She doesn’t even try to educate herself.

Having her in the Whitehouse would be such a circus.

I do truly think that many of you do not see Sarah Palin.

Her decision was good for her family. It was good for Alaska. It’s not like she was helping one at the expense of the other.

Signs Grow That Palin May Run

WASHINGTON — Sarah Palin is fortifying her small staff of advisers, buying a house in Arizona — where associates have said she could base a national campaign — and reviving her schedule of public appearances. The moves are the most concrete signals yet that Ms. Palin, the former governor of Alaska, is seriously weighing a Republican presidential bid.

unseen on May 25, 2011 at 5:46 PM

hehehe

Taken together, the moves are at odds with conventional wisdom — if not wishful thinking — among establishment Republicans in Washington that Ms. Palin has decided not to run. That thinking has been voiced increasingly on television and in blogs and newspaper articles as the party’s professional political class — which Ms. Palin has railed against — has sought to declare the field of candidates closed and move on to the next phase of debates and straw polls in the slow-starting campaign.

I have read your post and it waa lacking. My only guess is that in your world “whining” = “pointing out flaws in logic”. You keep using that word but it doesn’t mean what you think it means.

As for how I sign my name, only Palin-cultists ever bring that up. Isn’t that odd? Never bothers anyone else here for the four+ years I’ve been posting… I sign my name to include the possessive apostrophe that HA’s system wouldn’t let me have in my handle. Was that so hard?

Jenfidel on May 25, 2011 at 12:06 PM

Suuuure, you didn’t. In January you posted all about how you’d had an epiphany regarding SP’s retweet of Bruce’s slanderous remark about how anyone who didn’t support the repeal of DADT was “hiding something”. And you left. For months.

And, why did you put “bright” in quotes? Are you quoting someone?

Persons like petunia and csdeven, besides being dumbasses
(call me a bully; I could care less), crave attention
which they get, like an errant child, by being obnoxious
and contrary. Their posts are like a 2 year old’s tantrums.

Like I said, you obviously have a severe woman problem.

littleguy on May 25, 2011 at 5:08 PM

Okay. Lets try this One. More. time.

Sarah decided her family was the priority and resigned. She should realize that before trying to run for office again. At least until her kids are grown.

She is the person who decided her kids were the priority. Shouldn’t she realize that before trying to run again so she doesn’t have to abdicate her position if she is forced to make a choice between her family and the electorate?

Tell me which politician doesn’t have their family as their 1st priority, for the thousandth time, I really want to know…

tinkerthinker on May 25, 2011 at 5:12 PM

How does that question relate to Sarah and her choice to make her family her first priority? Is she decides her family is number one, why do you care what a different politician sees his priorities as? Does Sarah have to have other politicians doing as she does in order for her to be validated?

csdeven on May 25, 2011 at 7:04 PM

Stuck on stupid!

idesign on May 25, 2011 at 5:22 PM

You think Sarah is stupid for making her family her first priority? I don’t agree. She could be called unwise if she were to seek elected office again and not deal with her priorities. She has shown that her family is more important than the electorate. This bit her in the 8utt and she had to resign to protect her family. It would be silly of her to get elected to another office and then have to quit two years later because her family needed her.

Funny.

I don’t post here often, but I read a lot. At the moment there are two additional Palin threads up. On every thread you’re posting within the last 4 comments.

Admit it. You are either being paid, by someone or your deranged and should have yourself checked out due to your Palin obsession.

Another thing, the 3 Palin post’s have +/- 100 the amount of comments as all the other posts, combined.

Again, either get help or Congratulations! You’re doing a great job!

How pathetic.

bw222 on May 25, 2011 at 7:40 PM

No matter what, there will always be a sizeable number of jealous females that will never be able to say anything nice about Sarah Palin simply based on her dress size. Especially on the internet.

mike_NC9 on May 25, 2011 at 7:44 PM

Wow. This is STILL not in the ‘high traffic’ column yet? Is there a double standard on Palin threads just like with the real Palin? Do we need 5000 to get promoted? And yes, this is snark. No need to call me an oversensitive ‘Nista.

miConsevative on May 25, 2011 at 12:17 PM

Psst, it’s not a conspiracy, it’s just that HA never moves a QOTD to the other column. Your paranoia is showing.

Have you all seen this ?

We laugh at her and call her a joke, but she’s serious. And she has big bucks behind her, and nothing to lose.
We’d better stop laughing now, or she’ll have us all crying out for mercy on Inauguration Day, 2013.

CTSherman on May 25, 2011 at 7:57 PM

Nice, he admits she’ll win! Could see that scum cowering.

Sharr on May 25, 2011 at 8:06 PM

Sarah Palin wins Ace of Spades straw poll:

PALIN 35.19%

CAIN 26.00%

PAWLENTY 23.37%

BACHMANN 6.24%

ROMNEY 4.53%

JOHNSON 1.98%

SANTORUM 1.49%

HUNTSMAN 0.89%

GINGRICH 0.29%

4484 VOTES TABULATED

And this is despite all the hype recently over Pawlenty, Bachmann, Cain and Huntsman while Palin was completely being dismissed by all the pundits as inconsequential and declared virtually persona non grata (the field is already set)by them as they said she was not running.

technopeasant on May 25, 2011 at 8:31 PM

What does that have to do with Sarah’s choices? Are you trying to disparage her because she chose her family over Alaska?

csdeven on May 25, 2011 at 3:34 PM

No, I want you to name a politician who doesn’t put their family first. besides the obvious- John Edwards, Arnold.

I believe Sarah was fearless in her decision to protect her family. Here is a woman who talks the talk, walks the walk…protecting her family even though her political image may be tarnished. An humbling you don’t seem to understand. It is a quality that I admire. When president, she will treat America like her family.
