Video: Netanyahu lectures Obama on why Israel’s 1967 borders are indefensible

posted at 4:10 pm on May 20, 2011 by Allahpundit

I can’t believe we have to wait another five days for the inevitable O’Reilly “body language segment” on this tete-a-tete. Good lord. The One looked like he was trying to pass a kidney stone at one point. Worst photo op evah.

Normally these Oval Office grip-and-grins begin with a few minutes of blah-blah from the president about America’s enduring bond with the other leader’s country, followed by a minute or so from that leader about the “productive discussion” they just had, and that’s it. Not this time: Netanyahu takes off here for a good seven minutes, parts of which are so cutting — the conclusion about history not giving the Jewish people another chance is simply devastating — that it’s hard to believe it was extemporaneous. In fact, by the end he’s facing Obama and addressing him personally, just to add to the theater. Bibi knew this would be his golden opportunity to pay Obama back for yesterday’s speech, and darned if he didn’t seize it. It’s riveting. O was probably completely blindsided by it too, but no doubt realized quickly that this little history lesson would soon go viral in the media and online. Hopefully no meaningful agreements were reached earlier in their private meeting, because if they were, you can forget about ‘em now.

Meh. The Israeli’s should be left to defend themselves. They refuse to cooperate with the international community, why should we stick our necks out any longer?

Get a clue. Israel does defend itself. They have never asked help from our troops. They only ask that we verbally stand with them.

I’ll never forget a few days after 9/11 Bibi was testifying to Congress. I can’t remember the exact reason for his visit, but I remember being rivited listening to him explain the brutality of Islamic terrorism. I wish someone could that video.

vcferlita on May 20, 2011 at 4:43 PM

In 1947 – the UN passed a resolution to establish a Jewish State and a Palestinian State with Jerusalem as an “international city”.

The Jews cheerfully accepted this resolution – even though the UN partitioning left MUCH to be desired for both parties.

But … the Palestinians and every single Arab state rejected the plan.

And now – after THOUSANDS of innocent people have been killed in a SIXTY PLUS YEAR TEMPER TANTRUM OF TERROR BY THE PALESTINIANS – we’re to forsake the people who were happy with the 1947 plan and give the terrorists everything they want? WTF SERIOUSLY?

HAMAS – still has not acknowledged an absolute right of Israel to exist. I know some people will jump on me and say that statement is wrong – but it’s not. Hamas has only ever “accepted” that Israel does currently exist but has never acknowledged it’s absolute and moral right to.

I mean – how many more innocent people are we gonna sacrifice to the Liberals in this nation? We sacrificed MILLIONS of Vietnamese and Cambodians in a holocaust led by the Communists when we pulled out of Vietnam (thanks to the Liberal anti-war movement). Liberals want to give Afghanistan back to the Taliban – and that is going to result in another holocaust there when it happens. Liberals want to pull out of Iraq – and leave that place to a very probably holocaust.

And now – they want to throw the Jews into the fires again?

Someone has to stop this crap.

I don’t give two plugged nickels for the Palestinians. “Palestine” was NEVER a nation. The only time that area of the world was a nation unto itself – was when the Jews controlled it in Biblical times. Since then – it’s been conquered and ruled by the Turks, the French, the British … Palestinian DNA consists of Jewish, Turkish, European DNA – basically everyone who ran through that area and conquered it at some point in time. Now the “Palestinians” have some right to their own homeland?

Please.

What remains of America’s allied alliance now appears to be fighting off their own Arab Spring! In their own sovereign nations such as France, Germany, Italy, Britain, Australia. Oh, and let’s not forget Poland! You know, those folks who had their entire government go down in a plane crash and BHO sent nobody? Yeah, those allies.

Americans and Americans are our own allies. We are alone.

Bibi is the only adult here – he has to treat Obama like a little kid.

You know – when you have a kid that does stupid things – you sit down and say … “Son – please don’t do that”.

The kid keeps doing stupid things though – and you have to keep raising the volume of disapproval.

Eventually – you have to shout at him to get the message.

I guarantee you – if Obama doesn’t get the message this time – the NEXT time, Bibi will make it more to the point for him – and a lot more “personal”.

LOL, what is the IDF, chopped liver?

They do defend themselves. The US does sell them F-15s and other toys, but we also sell those to other countries.

As for their “cooperating with the international community”? They’ve signed a peace accord with Egypt, one with Jordan, have established diplomatic relationships with Tunisia, Morocco and Mauritania, and have opened trade offices in Oman and Qatar.

But what other members of the international community cooperate with them? Your ignorance of that side of the story speaks volumes.

To squat upon a land that was laid to ruin until the Jews returned.

That’s the thing that sticks in my craw. The “Palestinians” don’t actually exist. They’re a mixture of, as others have said, Jordanians, Arabs, Leabonese, African Moors, Turks, Egyptians, European Muslims – basically whoever controled that land until the Jews returned trucked conquered people in to work the land, which from the time the Romans destroyed Jerusalem and greater Israel until 1948 was either a swamp or a desert. Each group failed to make anything of it and sank into their own misery, to the point that it was considered “curesd” by all those same Arab “neighbors” who are demanding Israel commit national scuicide and scede the land to the “Palestinians.” And its funny how it’s now, after the Jews have turned the so-called “land cursed by God” into a prosperous, powerful nation, that those “Arab neighbors” call it “stolen.”

#2 would be tragic, man I hope you’re wrong!

US boots would be unthinkable.

UN boots would be target practice, IMHO, considering how competent many of those forces are even before you realize they’d be going up against the Israeli military.

teke184 on May 20, 2011 at 5:26 PM

Go back and watch it again…

… it gets better and better every time.

It would have been hillarious if Bibi only said…

“Let me be clear…”

That made me wish I was Israeli,,,,can an Irish Catholic live in Israel and become a citizen?????

In the “Good Lord” photo, Getty Images put an “(R)” after Obama’s name. Don’t pawn this ineffective President on the GOP!

WashJeff on May 20, 2011 at 4:15 PM

I think they mean Obama is on the right side of the picture…and that’s probably the only thing he’s ever been on the right side of.

IrishEi on May 20, 2011 at 5:27 PM

A leader who loves his country. What a breath of fresh air.

So Jew-hating is not passed along genetically. Interesting.

slickwillie2001 on May 20, 2011 at 4:49 PM

Sorry you missed it.

Israel is our close friend. While President Obama’s demand that Israel make hard concessions in her border conflicts may very well be in her long-term interest, only Israel can make that determination on her own, without pressure from the United States or coercion by the United Nations.

Unlike this President, I do not believe it is our place to dictate how Israel runs her affairs. There can only be peace in the region if those sides work out their differences among one another. We should respect Israel’s sovereignty and not try to dictate her policy from Washington.
[...]
I am not the only one who can see the absurdities of our foreign policy. We give $3 billion to Israel and $12 billion to her enemies. Most Americans know that makes no sense.

If anyone is anti-Israel, it’s those who refuse to respect her sovereignty, and believe she needs to come running to Washington for permission to make a frickin’ move.

Ilana Mercer agrees:

Bibi has booed Obama’s latest decree. The Israeli Prime Minister, however, still used dhimi-like tones, which can only be ditched once Israel cuts the Gordian Knot that ties it to the US (foreign aid).

HE WHO PAYS THE PIPER CALLS THE TUNE. For foreign aid, Israeli leaders have been forced to subordinate their country’s national interests to Washington’s whims.

Bibi smacked the Reverend Wright clear off Baby Doc Obama’s face. What a thing of beauty.

Can we give Florida’s electoral votes to Bibi now?

I know how O’Bambi feels today. I really do.

Sincerely yours,

Today, BHO read from a pre-loaded teleprompter.

And the People of America acknowledged what is coming.

Trust me, BHO won’t be riding any Camels of Victory.

The world will keep moving on; the World has categorically rejected ACORNObama, and thankfully for the USA ACORNObama got his lecture from a Statesman. A smackdown on the face that was heard from all corners of the Earth.

Obama is lucky that he wasn’t punched.

Stupid idiot.

They have several million muslims as citizens. I’m sure they a Catholic would be OK.

angryed on May 20, 2011 at 5:34 PM

Our fellow American Jewish friends. What is it going to take? Is this not enough for you to see what is happening here as orchestrated by this president that you voted for. Please pay attention and stop it with the donations and funds and votes. Man up and let’s get rid of this guy in 2012.

Talk about evil eyes! Obama is such a fool! What did he think would happen? Either he has the dumbist advisors or he is over ruling them!

Where is Hillary?

Awfully silent on this issue as Sec. of State. Others would have resigned in protest in her position – unless she secretly agrees with O’Bambi!

Little Bammie doesn’t have ‘advisors’, he has a motley crew of prog sycophants and hangers-on that take their cues from him and parrot his thinking. That’s all that a narcissist like little Bammie will tolerate.
