Democratic candidate’s new ad: We minorities need to stick together

posted at 4:58 pm on May 12, 2011 by Allahpundit

It’s Dan Adler, Hollywood agent turned Disney VP turned new media entrepreneur turned race-baiting candidate for Congress in California’s special election. For whatever reason, racial demagoguery as practiced by California Democrats seems to be more overt than the usual wink-and-nod sort practiced by their colleagues nationally. Remember Loretta Sanchez warning Univision last year before the midterms that “the Vietnamese” (in the form of Republican Van Tran) were trying to take her seat? She was in trouble for awhile but rallied to win her race comfortably. You may have taken Saigon, “Vietnamese,” but you’ll never take Loretta Sanchez’s district.

Adler’s got a tough haul in the primary — among his opponents are California’s secretary of state and progressive favorite Marcy Winograd — so bottom-feeding racial appeals really might be his only shot. To see more from his advertising oeuvre, click over to TPM and check out the video of Patty Duke saluting Adler’s ability to “get sh*t done.” Yes, really.

Does he really think that minorities consider Jews to be in the same oppressed, disenfranchised, downtrodden place that they are in?

Mark1971 on May 12, 2011 at 5:06 PM

Looks like this district is going to send a lefty to Congress no matter what, so it might as well be a Grayson clone.

The only time CA-36 has voted for a Republican in the last 20 years is for Arnie, and that doesn’t count.

fiatboomer on May 12, 2011 at 5:08 PM

So he should be elected to the House because his wife is Korean and his family is Jewish? If he adopts a black baby, does he then qualify for the Senate? What’s it take to be President in the minority sweepstakes? If his father is a Muslim African, his mother a white American and his stepfather is Indonesean, does that mean… Oh Crap!

PackerBronco on May 12, 2011 at 5:12 PM

The left wears color blindness like a badge and is also the quickest to point out race or use it to their advantage. If you don’t think these two things contradict each other, you may be a “progressive”.

Imagine if a Republican in a southern district ran an ad in the south:

Whites make up a large percentage of this district. And other politicians don’t represent us.

We white people should stick together!

Send a white Christian to Congress!

The outrage would be nuclear. And rightly so.

Nothing says “working together” like dividing people along race. Also, was it not demeaning to have the woman in the video randomly shout out “I’m Korean!” for no other reason than to allow for a clumsy segue by the politician to inform people that his wife is Korean? Classy.

This is just making explicit what the Democratic party already is – a motley coalition of mutually hostile minority groups – Jews, Blacks, Hispanics, Asians and also unmarried White women. This is why one should never take seriously any Democrat cries of ‘racism.’ For them, racism simply means supporting anything pro-white

At the risk of sounding racist; I love how no matter how much Hispanics outnumber Caucasians in my city, they are still referred to as “minorities”. The actual breakdown was 77% Hispanic in the 2000 census. It is actually higher now. C’mon guys, who is the minority here? When all of Texas is like this, will they still be the minority?

I love the mixed up culture, otherwise I would not live here, but I honestly get tired of being beat out of bids and business opportunities because my family business is run by Caucasians, not “minorities”. Why can’t we all just be equal in everything like God created us to be?

If a Republican tried to so something like this, they would be ostracized from society by the Left.

WisCon on May 12, 2011 at 5:43 PM

You have to love the liberal race-conscious tolerance.

Don’t see the joke? Fine, I’ll explain it.

The assumption is that all minorities have the same issues as everyone else of the same race; as well as the same thoughts opinions, and choices… see they’re all the same.

I dream of a day when you can judge a man based solely on the color of his skin; without having to bother with the content of his character – mirror-dimension evil MLK

Oddly this seems to be the quote Democrats want to work with… lets assume all groups are homogeneous with no disparity so we can categorize them appropriately. Once you know the “race” you know all you need to, right?

The Democrat party, finally catching up with the racial/social concepts that the KKK has had for decades. Impressive?

You don’t hear much about the rule of the majority anymore. Majority rule or rights of the majority are almost dirty words. Yet, every Fascist or communist nation is ruled by a minority of people.

Do you folks ever worry that a large number of non-whites in this country are always going to see the world in terms of racial spoils? It seems to me that whites are the only race that ever tried to put MLK’s “judge a person by the content of character” into practice. All other races, for the most part, see our country and the world in terms of competing races, not the abstract ideas in the Constitution. If that is true, then you will never win them over to a Constitutionalist-race blind perspective. In other words, you may not be interested in race, but race is interested in you.

I know that there are individual non-whites, like Thomas Sowell, that embrace a Constitutionalist view, but what if they are the exception to the rule?

Pretty stunning how racist Democrats can be and get away with it.

This reminds me of the Democrat Mayor of New Orleans vowing it will be a “Chocolate city” again.

The formation of the KKK was made up entirely of Democrats back in the day. Its no small surprise that they have been able to smooth over the blunt revulsion of racism with savy wordsmithing to become the modern day Democrat party. Still naked racists, but REAL GOOD at the delivery and slight of hand.

Maybe you gotta live here, but this is about as tin-eared as it gets. Koreans in SOCAL don’t identify with Latinos as fellow minorities — or vice versa. You have to go to the university campuses or the haunts of left-wing politicians to find anything even approaching solidarity in this regard.

And, of course, everyone in his video would see Dan Adler as merely a rich white guy from Hollywood industry. The “fellow minority” shtick is hilarious.
