You don’t even speak fopr the majority of so-called fiscal conservatives. If a concern over taking human life is your idea of “silliness” I have zero concern over trying to help you save a few of your tax dollars. If money is the only thing you see as pertinent in your political ideology, perhaps we are like liberals see us.

The stories I read said that Daniels actively worked to keep a RTW law from being brought up in the Indiana legislature AND assured the dem leadership that he would do all he could to keep it from becoming law. That was before the dems copied their Illinois counterparts and became fleebaggers, not after…

No! Mitch left the Bush administration during his first term after serving just two years. He was known as "The Blade" during that time because of all the cost cutting he did. Daniels had nothing to do with TARP and has in fact positioned Indiana very well financially with a billion dollar reserve of money.

I truly shed a Boehner-tear when W chose Cheney for VP. I did manage to get myself to push the pin for McCain, could not do it for Dole.

I try to avoid responding to hypotheticals, but on the flip side of the contest: I would transplant Daniel’s brain into Jon Huntsman’s or Sarah Palin’s body, and pair him/her up with Krauthammer for Veep. Imagine the debate with Biden: “Stand up, Chuck, let ‘em see ya!!”…

So a hypothetical: If you were Hillary, and Obama asked, would you risk sinking yourself for all time with a loss, run for POTUS as an independent, or tell everyone to piss off and stay out of the ring? We’re talking about a Clinton here.

Ryan has the clean cut good looks, and no chance of being dismissed as a pretty boy with his ninja budget facts.

Our problem really seems to be uncertainty on POTUS but a good crop of VP options.

The right pairing could make all the difference.

Right – I’d forgotten my main reason for opposing T-paw previously. But I think that the obstacles that T-Paw and Daniels have to overcome are much are much smaller than the other candidates. None of them are perfect, but they never are.

Seems to me that he did this so that he could get the Dems back to Indiana so that he could pass his school reform? He’d already beaten down the unions in Indiana, so I can understand how he thought school reform was more important. But opinions may vary.

He and Pawlenty are the two candidates who are reasonably conservative with no crippling baggage. Good to have him aboard.

I agree – these are the two candidates that I am looking at. I slightly prefer Daniels, but the VAT fiasco is holding me back a little.

Daniels is a sure loser. He has the political skills of Walter Mondale combined with the charisma of Steve Forbes.
Daniels would be the worst GOP candidate ever.

he’s made idiotic statements when it comes to the GOP primary, but not for the general election. He is not a sure loser when it comes to going up against Obama, it’s conservatives in the GOP who he has worried now and then, but if he can point to his record to re-assure them, I don’t seem him as a terrible candidate for the general.
