Video: CNN investigates Obama’s birth certificate

posted at 6:23 pm on April 26, 2011 by Allahpundit

Or rather, since they can’t see the long-form certificate, they dug around for whatever circumstantial evidence they could find that he was born in Hawaii. A taste:

Professor Alice Dewey of the University of Hawaii was a faculty adviser to Dunham and also knew the future president when he was a child. She called the controversy “funny.” She said there is “no way” Obama wasn’t born in the state.

Dewey remembered a conversation in which Dunham compared the birth of Obama with that of his sister, Maya, who actually was born overseas.

“She said, ‘When I had Maya, it was a lot of more difficult because Indonesia doesn’t believe in painkillers while you’re giving birth. … Of course, in the United States, giving birth to Barry (Obama’s childhood nickname) was quite different and much more comfortable,’” Dewey recalled.

A woman who gave birth to her son around the same time as Obama was born, in August 1961, remembers seeing a black infant next to him in the hospital nursery and assumes it was little Barack given how small the state’s black population was at the time. Won’t change any minds — for true believers only the certificate will do, and the truest true believers will dismiss that as a forgery if it’s ever produced — but it might persuade those who hadn’t followed the issue until Trump first started talking about it a few weeks ago and haven’t made up their minds yet.

This is part one of two; the conclusion will air tonight on Anderson Cooper’s show. I’m giving you a second clip here, though, of their interview with Dr. Chiyome Fukino, the former director of the Hawaii Health Department who’s told several different reporters in the past that yes, O’s original birth records do exist, and yes, she’s personally inspected them. She’s under no illusions about how the long-form birth certificate would be greeted if it were somehow released. While you watch, a fun fact to mull about those polls on Birtherism that have liberals wringing their hands: While only 38 percent say Obama was definitely born in the U.S., just 43 percent say Trump was.

I dont give two squats about Obama and his BC, what I care about is that it appears Obama has used more than one SSN# since he was born. That is a Federal crime if true.

Well, if CNN were truly interested in doing The Definitive Investigation, they would address these things.
Even if they think it’s goofy. Even if it isn’t true. They would at least address all of the issues people have raised.

But that apparently isn’t the kind of definitive investigation they are doing right now. They, instead, are interviewing women who once saw a black baby.

There is one man who will do what he must
And the usurper most foul, in a year will be dust
Trump’s blade will tingle his spine
As it captures his heart and his head

Sing, swing
Savour the sting
As he severs you, Hussein Louie Obama
Slice, come paradise
The Donald will shave you razor clean

Exhibits:

1. Remember the military person who refused orders until it was proven that BO was legitimate? Not Lakin, but earlier. Rather than go to court, they just dropped his orders.

2. Everyone wants BO to request his Hawaiian LFBC, suddenly, the Hawaii DOH decides to make a law that they no longer give out LFBC but that the COLB is the end all be all of BC documentation.

3. BO is accused of using a strange Connecticut SS#, suddenly it has come to light that BO Sr. lived in Connecticut while attending Harvard. This one is particularly fishy.

With some research, I could go on and on. If you don’t think that it is fishy that everytime anyone questions anything about this fraud, some miraculous bullshat story from some liar comes to save the day, then you are intellectually incurious.

mrsmwp on April 26, 2011 at 7:18 PM

Can anyone name one good reason that Obama should NOT show his BC if he has it in his possession?
Are people who ask, simply, does he have his long form BC in his possession considered birthers also? If so, why?

txmomof6 on April 26, 2011 at 7:18 PM

You would think, that of all things journalists should be able to investigate and agree on, they could investigate and agree on whether the President of the USA was in fact born in the USA and is a natural born citizen.

But, I guess we ask too much.

Making up an outrageous story about her water breaking and then flying 10 hours back to Alaska (not telling the flight crew she was pregnant with an at-risk baby) shows an incredible lack of judgment, or she’s a complete liar. Either way, voters deserve to be told the truth.

Also, Democrats actually used TANG as a campaign issue. News outlets did real stories about the rumors. Democrats were NOT asked in every interview to swear on a stack of bibles that Bush had been honorably discharged from TANG. No demeaning name was made up for people who believed Bush had gone AWOL.

The story didn’t die from it’s own weight. Bush released all of his records. The DoD released all of its records. The news organizations sued for access. Dan Rather was found to be sloppy, but his story was on 60 minutes nonetheless.

Very different handling. But CNN wants to call this this the “definitive” birther investigation.

Meanwhile, our credibility is to sinking to the level of Truthers.

Even Truthers were given the respect of a factual rebuttal to their claims. And Truthers felt very free to discuss their beliefs, whether as a host on The View, as a former celebrated newsman (Cronkite), or in interviews about their new movies/albums.
I also do not recall every Democratic politician being asked to denounce Trutherism whenever they were interviewed.

Conservatives don’t like Truthers, but pretty much everyone else tolerated them pretty well.

But the main point is, her Texas plane ride story is bizarre on it’s very face.

chumpThreads on April 26, 2011 at 7:33 PM

Frankly, I don’t care what anyone believes in regard to Obama’s birth certificate.
In this country, we have separation of Church and State. We don’t have to depend on beliefs. This is the country of “the people’s right to know,” “public knowledge is a prerequisite to accountability,” “the most open and transparent administration in history,” “freedom of information,” the “Show Me State,” a “well-informed electorate,” and “Enquiring minds want to know”.
If Mr. Obama wanted privacy, he should never have run for public office.

Let’s see Obama’s “long form” birth certificate and let the chips fall where they may.

The Left as a whole, really do not behave that way. Otherwise, they would do everything in their power to not make up scandals for her. Your mistake is thinking she’s a weak horse, when she’s not.

The fact that you must attack her, when she is not even in power tells me all I need to know about who you are afraid of thanks.

If she’s so irrelevant and not a threat to you. Then move on, she’s a loser. Yet that’s not how you behave. Actions are louder than words, the entire Lett screams who they fear most.

Now if you were actively propping her up, then I might think you are telling the truth. Instead you act like Palin is the devil and she’s not even an elected official with power over your life.

The same people that gave the wildly available short form will be the same ones that would have to track down one of thousands of filling cabinets in some deep damp dark cave in Mauna Kea volcano to dust off the 49 year cabinet that has not been opened in 20 years when they went all digital and then dust off the 20 year old dust only opening file in a temperature controlled static free clean room to make sure the pages do not turn to dusk themselves only to show the world what. A 50 year old birth cover up

And still that will not be enough to prove that he is American as American can be.

A woman who gave birth to her son around the same time as Obama was born, in August 1961, remembers seeing a black infant next to him in the hospital nursery and assumes it was little Barack given how small the state’s black population was at the time. Won’t change any minds…

Good grief, are you that desperate for any shred of ‘proof’? What nonsense.

slickwillie2001 on April 26, 2011 at 8:20 PM

Dr. Chiyome Fukino, the former director of the Hawaii Health Department who’s told several different reporters in the past that yes, O’s original birth records do exist, and yes, she’s personally inspected them.

Yeah, so then, why not just go ahead and release them?

Sarah should release Trig’s long form BC. Because, once she does, Trig instantly becomes more eligible for the Presidency than Obama. Transparency, or something…

The Soetoro regime, and it’s water carriers in the MSM (witness this CNN nonsense) is in full panic mode.

A dozen states are considering enhanced eligibility requirements for ballot access – including a long form birth certificate. While Barry dodged a bullet in Arizona, his luck will soon run out.

Ten dollars. That’s how much a certified copy of a long form birth certificate costs in Hawaii. He might get away with the meme that “he’s not releasing it to stick his finger in the birther’s eye”, for him to not release it even when required for ballot access – is something no intelligent American voter is going to accept.

Ten dollars to release it, how much has he spent so far to hide it? Just a wild guess, but more than ten dollars.

Rebar on April 26, 2011 at 8:35 PM

I know. The ONLY reason this post is on HA is because the public demanded it. Kind of like Fox Business Channel right? AP’s email has been overflowing with requests for more birther stories. That’s why ATF or BATF or BATFE or whatever their latest acronym is/was running guns to Mexico. It’s all the Mexicans fault for demanding guns. But for that ATF would never have come up with operation gunwalker or whatever they called it.

JimP on April 26, 2011 at 8:38 PM

Questions I knew Gary Tuchman would not ask Dr. Fukino before I clicked on the second video link:

1. Did you vote for Obama?

2. Do you think the President made your job more difficult by refusing to produce a copy of the long form?

3. Would you like the President to request a copy of the vault copy so the public could see what you saw?

4. Are you legally authorized under Hawaii’s privacy laws to look at the birth certificate and notify the public about its contents?

5. Can you vouch for the authenticity of the short form his campaign released? (Listen carefully — he does NOT ask this question)

6. Some people say that if the President requested that a copy of the long form be released to him, the DOH would refuse, and only offer the short form. Is that true, or false?

7. Is it or is it not possible for someone born outside of the United States to obtain a Hawaii short form?

Question I knew he wouldn’t ask as I watched Fukino respond:

You said you viewed the vault copy after a request by the former Governor’s press secretary asked you to make a statement, but you say the former Governor herself did not. Would it have been improper for the Governor herself to ask you to examine it?

Trump should make little Bammie an offer. Ten million dollars for the charity of your choice, if you sign the long form request and allow Trump to send it to Hawaii where they will fill the request. Trump pays the $10.

slickwillie2001 on April 26, 2011 at 8:40 PM

This is considered an investigation? Really? Is this what American journalism has come to? They aren’t even curious as to why he’s spent 2 million dollars to keep his Long form hidden? They don’t show the slightest curiosity about where his father is born(which is really what this is about). They don’t address any of the concerns or any of those asking questions which puts this as yet another CNN defense piece (they’ve been doing these since about 2007 for Obama). The man is not some guy of the street, he has the codes to the nuclear weapons. Looks like CNN hasn’t changed much since I last watched them on television (2008)

I never said Palin isn’t Trig’s mother. In fact, I believe she is (although it’s odd that she hid her pregnancy from her own children, siblings and her father). Still she could put those rumors to rest by releasing the birth certificate. How difficult can it be?

But the main point is, her Texas plane ride story is bizarre on it’s very face.

chumpThreads on April 26, 2011 at 9:32 PM

So Gary Tuchman picks a guy off the birth announcement page in August 1961 to get the green short form like the Obama camp put on Daily Kos and snarks, “Nobody doubts Stig’s citizenship.” Heheheh. Nobody gives a flying duck about Stig’s birthplace until he runs for President. Say it with me, Gary: Article II, Section 1, Clause 5.

Tuchman then floats the most ridiculous of all birther theories: That the Obamas or Dunhams planted the 1961 birth announcement afterward, and shoots it down. Wow, behold the new Murrow. Then, strangely, in the process of stating that all birth announcements were sent to newspapers by the hospital where they were created, they show the exterior of Kapiolani Hospital in Honolulu. WHY? That’s not info found on the short form that Tuchman just showed us, thanks to stooge-of-the-day Stig. That’s information that could only be found on the long form — the birth announcement made NO mention of which hospital sent it. So where did that come from? Who else has seen the long form? We know one name: Chiyome Fukino.

Finally, Tuchman says, “So why won’t President Obama just release a copy of his birth certificate?” Well, finally, someone is asking the right question. And of course, as I expected, he doesn’t answer it. He pivots to another discredited idea: that the vault copy says he’s a Muslim. To illustrate that’s erroneous, he waves before the camera a copy of a long form “of another man” to back that up, and then adds that Fukino says there’s nothing about being Muslim on Obama’s long form (raising the issue of her dedication to Hawaii’s confidentiality laws).

The thread throughout this report and almost all others on the subject is that the President has no responsibility to do everything he could to settle the issue, it’s up to all of us to take his word for it, and that there is no evidence that will be good enough for the doubters. Despite that narrative, the MSM is tripping all over itself trying to convince people because he won’t.

Mark my words: There are MSMers who are scared spitless there is a deep, dark secret (or something that might lead to one) on that long form that might destroy him, and for the first time in their careers, they don’t want to be Woodward & Bernstein. Walter Duranty will do just fine. After all, he won a Pulitzer, didn’t he?

I bring up Palin’s tall-tale about Trig’s birth to illustrate how the right wing yahoos will beat the Obama birth certificate story to death and ignore the very questionable circumstances surrounding the birth of Trig.

The question of the President’s birth is closed! John McCain, Hilary Clinton and everybody else who wanted to be President in 2008 would have followed the issue to the bitter end if they thought they could get Obama out of the race. Do you think Trump’s imaginary “investigators” are going to find anything? Really?

Palin is either a crass liar by her own words or she engaged in astonishingly negligent and risky behavior in the decisions she made leading up to the birth of Trig. Of course such actions don’t disqualify her from being president. But the voters should know the true story .

You don’t have to care. But other people do.

Funny how this thread is being hijacked and turned into a thread about Palin. Let’s not be Chumps.

Look, I know whhat hospital former President Jimmy Carter was born in, and what hospital former President Bill Clinton was born in. I know where former Vice President Al Gore was born, and the name of the military hospital in Colorado where 2004 idiot Democrat candidate Jeanne-Claude Kerri was grafted from a tree trunk.

But for some strange reason, this President won’t tell us which hospital he was born in. Or what he got for grades in college.

Remember, the Associated Press successfully sued President Bush in 2004 for his military records, while holding his opponent to a totally different standard. Shouldn’t they show the same interest in a sitting President’s background now by suing his White House to see what he’s hiding?

PS, I’ll ask you what I keep asking crr6. Which Honolulu Hospital was he born in?
