Video: CNN investigates Obama’s birth certificate

posted at 6:23 pm on April 26, 2011 by Allahpundit

Or rather, since they can’t see the long-form certificate, they dug around for whatever circumstantial evidence they could find that he was born in Hawaii. A taste:

Professor Alice Dewey of the University of Hawaii was a faculty adviser to Dunham and also knew the future president when he was a child. She called the controversy “funny.” She said there is “no way” Obama wasn’t born in the state.

Dewey remembered a conversation in which Dunham compared the birth of Obama with that of his sister, Maya, who actually was born overseas.

“She said, ‘When I had Maya, it was a lot of more difficult because Indonesia doesn’t believe in painkillers while you’re giving birth. … Of course, in the United States, giving birth to Barry (Obama’s childhood nickname) was quite different and much more comfortable,’” Dewey recalled.

A woman who gave birth to her son around the same time as Obama was born, in August 1961, remembers seeing a black infant next to him in the hospital nursery and assumes it was little Barack given how small the state’s black population was at the time. Won’t change any minds — for true believers only the certificate will do, and the truest true believers will dismiss that as a forgery if it’s ever produced — but it might persuade those who hadn’t followed the issue until Trump first started talking about it a few weeks ago and haven’t made up their minds yet.

This is part one of two; the conclusion will air tonight on Anderson Cooper’s show. I’m giving you a second clip here, though, of their interview with Dr. Chiyome Fukino, the former director of the Hawaii Health Department who’s told several different reporters in the past that yes, O’s original birth records do exist, and yes, she’s personally inspected them. She’s under no illusions about how the long-form birth certificate would be greeted if it were somehow released. While you watch, a fun fact to mull about those polls on Birtherism that have liberals wringing their hands: While only 38 percent say Obama was definitely born in the U.S., just 43 percent say Trump was.

Looks like Obama picked up the phone and gave his buds at CNN a call to do his fighting for him. Imagine if CNN had done this for GWB when “Rather” was pushing his fake National Guard story.

Not Fukino, but the other stuff.

I am hoping they will at least cover the reports that you can get a COLB if you weren’t born in Hawaii. True? Not true? That would at least be a fact.

And just to make it clear- I believe Obama was born in Hawaii but evidence like this makes me less sure, not more.

Pictures of mom in the hospital? Pics of infant Obama coming home to Grandma and Grandpa’s house? Pics of mom and baby getting on the airplane to head to Washington to live? Will CNN even discuss mom moving to Washington?

MayBee on April 26, 2011 at 6:33 PM

As long as the Obamacrats keep producing phony witnesses who make claims they can’t prove, there will always be suspicion. Any normal human being who didn’t have something to hide would have produced the actual Birth Certificate long ago.

The second-hand notes and computer lists produced so far would never get anybody into a job where you need a security clearance.

Bullshite. A half black/half white newborn wouldn’t stand out among such a mixed race society like that in Hawaii.

Most transparent president EVAH!

Who’s yer daddy, Barry?

Cody1991 on April 26, 2011 at 6:35 PM

Why all this huffing and puffing about where Barry was born? That’s not the point.

The point is whether or not his father was a Kenyan citizen and thus a British subject at the time of Jr.’s birth. If so, BHO is not a natural born citizen of the U.S.A. and thus ineligible to be president.

Why isn’t CNN asking that question?

You must have been home from school sick the day that CNN did a Fact Check on a Saturday Night Live skit making fun of O’bama.

And CNN is not a “major media outlet”, except to O’bama and the Left. Remember, in the past this “major media outlet” did the following:

1. Lied about the US dropping nerve gas on Laotian civilians.

2. Covered up Saddam Hussein’s atrocities against the Iraqi people for 10 years, just so they could keep their precious Baghdad office open.

3. Aired video footage provided to them by the enemy the US was fighting in Iraq, showing the snipers’ eye view of his American target just before he pulled the trigger.

4. Had their CEO resign in disgrace after he falsely claimed in a speech that the US military had “murdered” Iraqi journalists.

That’s very true.
But now we have another thing going, don’t we? People want to see the President’s long birth certificate and he doesn’t want to release it. CNN decided to do the definitive investigation (their words) and they are doing a crappy job. Plus, I don’t think they are addressing some of the birther’s questions.

Obama does not have to release his long form. But CNN reporting that a woman saw a black baby is not going to help anything. They could file an FOIA, but they won’t.

With all the false information perpetrated regarding this issue, why anyone would lend any credence to a CNN report is beyond me.

She has birthers pegged. It doesn’t matter what evidence suggest otherwise they will continue to ignore it and keep spouting their nonsense. Anyone that disproves them will be called a fake witness or a tool or unbelievable. If Obama produced his long form somehow it would be called a fake. Just like they did with the COLB. They know the birth certificate thing is an iceberg and they are on the Titanic, so they have stir up some idiotic conspiracy that a very public figure with a security clearance manage to skate by somehow use hundreds of fake social security numbers throughout his life.

My family lived there in the early and mid 1960s. There were plenty of faces of all colors there even then. Remember, the black population included not just those people born there, but also people temporarily living there-like black members of the US military.

Ans even then, Whites were a minority in that State. Why do you think the non-White school kids came up with the quaint tradition known as “Kill Haole Day”, whereby they would beat up white kids like me (“Haole” being the slur to describe us) solely because of our race.

The elite private school O’bama attended, Punahou, also practiced this tradition. Magically, all mention of this Punahou practice in O’bama’s wiki entry was “vanished” by the wiki “editors” during the summer of 2008.

He’s not. You probably saw something about Obama spending $2 million to defend against the birther thing, but the truth is that he’s paid his legal team $2 million overall for all the legal issues they’ve needed to deal with. I don’t think there’s any evidence that speaks to how much of that was on the birth certificate issue, and legal experts say that it’s normal to spend a ton on general issues (like FEC filings) while you’re president.

Do you have any evidence that he’s actually spent millions on this issue?

That’s how all conspiracy theorists operate.

Absence of evidence is itself evidence that the conspiracy theory is true. The lack evidence is only a result of The Man conspiring to hide such evidence, and if they’re hiding evidence, it means there’s something to hide. Therefore, a lack of evidence proves they’re hiding something.

Evidence that goes against their nutty little conspiracy theory only shows how far the vast and sinister the conspirators will go to hide The Truth.

That is not so.

But, I like Santorum, got curious and looked at my own. I also only have a Certificate of Live Birth from the State of Washington.

With this document I have a passport, drivers liesense, social security card, voter registration and every other document I’ve ever needed.

That left me questioning what exactly is a long form and why would anyone ever have one.

However, Obama has allowed every possible rumour to fester until most people will believe anything at all. Because he won’t release seemingly mundane biographical information.

Most people don’t live lives they have to hide… so it breeds suspicion.

OmahaConservative on April 26, 2011 at 7:01 PM

Look, absolutely every bit of evidence about Obama’s past has been hidden. Nothing at all about grades, scholarships, girlfriends, friends etc.I can see why people are questioning him. Do I think he was born in Hawaii, yes. Am I suspicious about everything else about him, you betcha!

sandee on April 26, 2011 at 7:01 PM

Why isn’t CNN asking that question?

GrannyDee on April 26, 2011 at 6:35 PM

Shhhhh! They’re a major news organization!

Just ask Saddam Hussein!

They lied for him, too.

Oh, that’s right, he’s a little hung up…

profitsbeard on April 26, 2011 at 7:02 PM

Wow, the trolls are really upset that we aren’t taking CNN’s pinky swear for this!

sharrukin on April 26, 2011 at 7:03 PM

Well…

… I’m glad that issue is settled and behind us. Now CNN can concentrate on a little story that just won’t go away.

Seven Percent Solution on April 26, 2011 at 7:03 PM

As soon as birthers go away so that we can focus on things like that, which actually might matter to sane people.

DaveS on April 26, 2011 at 6:49 PM

Because anyone who questions why Obama won’t release his original birth document is not sane. Gotcha.

Why are you so willing to believe that people who are asking questions are insane?

JannyMae on April 26, 2011 at 7:04 PM

Why didn’t Obama save his friends at CNN from all this trouble by simply making a photocopy available to them? All these Obama supporters searching for something Obama could easily show them.

MayBee on April 26, 2011 at 6:58 PM

I dont disagree with you on that. Bush got a bad rap and pretty much said nothing in his defense. The Rather case fell apart on its own weight, which I suspect he (or Karl Rove) knew would happen.

I dont give two squats about Obama and his BC, what I care about is that it appears Obama has used more than one SSN# since he was born. That is a Federal crime if true.

According to Andrew Sullivan, none of that circumstancial evidence matters at all… there is no evidence that Dunham was Barry’s mother.

Hollowpoint on April 26, 2011 at 6:55 PM

Please explain what the conspiracy theory is.

One man won’t release his original birth certificate. Others in official positions are providing cover for him to keep it hidden (presuming it exists).

What is the conspiracy theory?

“Way, way back in 2008, the New York Times led the “birther” craze.

They were pushing the idea that there were serious questions of constitutional eligibility for a man running for president that year.

That man was Sen. John McCain. Now, I didn’t support McCain for the presidency. I didn’t vote for him. I even wrote a book urging Americans not to vote for him. But McCain had served in the House and Senate for 26 years. It was his second bid for the presidency. America knew the man inside out – including his birth in Panama when his father, an American citizen, was serving in the Navy. They also knew his mother was an American citizen.

But, for the Times, this was the right “birther” moment.

The media concern over McCain’s eligibility actually led to hearings in the U.S. Senate that concluded he was eligible for one reason – both of this parents were American citizens. McCain had to show the Senate his long-form birth certificate to prove he was eligible. The motion carried 99-0 with one abstention, John McCain. Barack Obama co-sponsored the affirmative resolution declaring McCain eligible.

But that was then and this is now.

The Times never once questioned Obama’s eligibility during the campaign. It never reported on those who did. It never asked for proof of Obama’s eligibility. The flimsiest evidence was accepted on faith.

Question: Were both of Obama’s parents American citizens?

Answer: No, according to Obama. He says his father was a Kenyan visiting student, a subject of the United Kingdom, who would have transferred U.K. citizenship to his son, if indeed Barack Hussein Obama I were his father. But we don’t even know that with certainty, because the only eyewitness document that would confirm Obama’s story is the long-form, contemporaneous form he refuses to release to the public. Furthermore, if Stanley Ann Dunham were actually his birth mother, she may have been too young to confer U.S. citizenship upon Obama, making him not a dual citizen but a U.K. citizen only.

Conservalicious on April 26, 2011 at 7:08 PM

Dr. Chiyome Fukino, the former director of the Hawaii Health Department who’s told several different reporters in the past that yes, O’s original birth records do exist, and yes, she’s personally inspected them.

Ok, maybe I missed it. Last I heard, the Dem governor of Hawaii himself had said the documents couldn’t be found. So which documents has this woman personally inspected?

Midas on April 26, 2011 at 7:09 PM

Birthers have been asking for a major media outlet to do an investigation for a while. Now that they have, you’re complaining that Obama had them do his fighting for him?

tneloms on April 26, 2011 at 6:32 PM

BS. We want a full and thorough investigation that seeks to learn the facts. What this is, is CNN takes the premise it wants to prove and then supports it with selected facts, never mentioning other conflicting facts that don’t support their preordained narrative. Worthless propaganda.

mrsmwp on April 26, 2011 at 7:09 PM

Instead of interviewing Fukino, who wasn’t content just to announce that she’s seen Obama’s LFBC, but who – because she has an agenda – announced that Obama is a Natural Born Citizen, why doesn’t CNN go to Queen’s Medical Center and Kapolani Hospital and see if they have any record of Obama being born there?
