Which is true, yet strange; gas prices hit voters in the pocketbook but they’re not something under Obama’s control the way

Sorry but I have to call BS on that.

More than any other single individual on this planet, Obama can dramatically affect the price of oil, in either direction.

Obama could say tonight that all the brakes are off and drilling in federal waters can commence (wherever those waters may be), and the price would plummet by morning.

He could announce the reversal of ANWR restrictions tomorrow and the price would plummet even further by day's end.

In a prime time speech tomorrow night he could announce the EPA's deference to State environmental agencies with respect to development on state lands and state waters; the price by end of week would be half of what it is now.

Obama, more than anyone else, can move oil prices quickly and dramatically. . . IF HE SO CHOOSES.

Could Boehner explain how "taxing" oil companies more will REDUCE the price of gas already rocketing.

I mean, seriously. This is the Republican? Talk about co-opted Stockholm Syndrome.

Maybe he wants to pass legislation where the government MANDATES the cost of a gallon.

But hang on, didn't Obama WANT the cost to rise to $8 a gallon anyway back in 2008?

Gosh it's all so confusing. But looks like Obama is keeping THAT campaign pledge to necessarily rise gas prices.

Friend of mine is a poll manager in our inner city. He says the law allows GOTV "non-profits" to pay every voter $20 to cover transportation costs to and from the polls.

If the organization actually provides the transportation they are not supposed to pay the $20--though they will have plenty of opportunity to do so unobserved by poll watchers while loading/unloading/travelling to the polls, etc. And cash payments are totally untrackable unless someone has the political will to investigate non-profits. That won't be our side anytime soon.

Voters are also allowed to request assistance--frequently of the bus driver who delivered them to the poll--in completing the ballot and casting the vote.

The only safeguard against fraud in this process is that the assister's name is recorded when he/she helps a voter cast their vote, and that person is limited to assisting 8 voters--per day, per precinct. (So one driver can unduly influence dozens of voters before he reaches his 8-voters-assisted-directly limit.)In other words, the law tries to limit the scope of the potential fraud rather than prevent it.

We need to be ahead by 5 points in order to win many states. Unprosecuteable fraud will occur on Election Night, 2012.

Dude, that map is reflective of the 2008 Campaign. I thought the same as you to start: "wow, these guys are really hopin' for change!" GA purple? SC pink? uh-uh!!!

I'm pretty sure that "the recruited dupes",trying to build the grassroots, are going to run into resistance and "adventures". The 2008 campaign promised hope and change, and not only did it not happen, things got worse. When the first few "recruited dupes" get beaten up by people who voted for Obama in 2008 I'm sure the people in charge of the grassroots campaign, will think it was all a misunderstanding. After the 50th incident I think they will start to realize what is going to happen to Obama's chances. When you give people hope and then don't deliver on that, people at least become disillusioned with you, when you come around again promising again that you will do s'thing for them, you'll run into their perception that you've BETRAYED them. The attempts to re-run the 2008 election are a set-up for EPIC FAIL.
