Jan Brewer: Birtherism is leading America “down a path of destruction”

posted at 10:04 pm on April 25, 2011 by Allahpundit

A squeeze of rhetorical lemon juice in the wound she inflicted on Birthers with last week’s veto. The more aggressive she is on this issue, the more intrigued I am. It’s one thing to take the Romney/Pawlenty line and say that she believes Obama was born in Hawaii, but “path to destruction” is strong medicine even by the standards of adamant anti-Birthers. When I asked last week for theories as to why she would have vetoed the bill, a few people e-mailed to say she was being sly and counting on it to pass anyway via veto-proof majority. That seems unlikely now; opposition that weak wouldn’t have produced condemnation this strong.

I don’t want to build anticipation too much but what you’re about to see might be the first clip featuring a Republican to generate an Obama-esque leg thrill in Chris Matthews. Exit question: Last year she signed the immigration bill, and now this. Where exactly does that leave her on the left’s spectrum of GOP “racism”?

Speaking as an adamant anti-Birther? No, it isn’t “strong medicine”. It’s factually accurate, and thank god SOMEONE is finally saying it after weeks of this nonsense.

Be sure to buy Jerome Corsi’s great new book in which he reveals that Darth Vader is Obama’s father and Sarah Palin is actually his sister.

Jan just needs to stay out of this. Just let the Donald, rise or fall on it. Don’t even get involved.

Oh come on Jan Brewer.

I’m as anti-Birther as you are likely to find. But when you find yourself saying “path of destruction”, you had better be referring to something a little more serious than a cheap political ploy.

JohnGalt23 on April 25, 2011 at 10:10 PM

Hint to Brewer and other Republican “leaders” (John McCain being the prime moronic example): If you can’t think of anything bad to say about Obama …you’re in the wrong party.

If Birtherism doesn’t work for you, find an attack plan that does wound the Boy King.

Don’t help him in any way, idiot.

The funny thing is watching John King beg her to say she believes Obama was born in Hawaii AND that this and other “birther” laws are specifically designed to attack Obama.

MayBee on April 25, 2011 at 10:13 PM

Brewer is becoming an idiot. What hyperbolic stupidity. No one wants to frog march Obama out of the Oval for this, at least until it’s conclusively proven he is ineligible, which is virtually impossible.

My sympathies lie with the birthers, mainly because I think everything about this man is a lie.

But I don’t have any more proof than anyone else does.

Obama can and will be beaten, on other issues.

But “path to destruction” is stupid and almost demagogic.

RINO alert for Brewer. Status yellow. Ditto Palin with her amnesty/legal status for current illegals.

I’m not a birther but I don’t see what the big deal is. I could care less, really. It’s not all that odd to think that a POTUS should reveal his BC. Why isn’t it a matter of public record, on display under glass somewhere for the sake of posterity?

The only harm I see is that it’s distracting from real issues, but then so is Libya. In fact the MSM is all about distractions these days, pay no attention to gas and food prices not to mention the debt and deficits.

Trump has expanded his birther routine to include Zero’s school records. As he should. When you lump the birth certificate with every other personal record that Captain Wonderful has hidden, THEN the request for info doesn’t look so crazy.

It seems like where we are headed is that Republicans will agree to raise the debt ceiling in exchange for 5 minutes in the room with Obama’s original birth certificate, along with automatic tax hikes in the event of Obama not signing off on any spending cuts.

The GOP…………Completely lacking in any sanity at all.

Here’s a really great idea.

Seal all kinds of records, birth, passport, college transcripts, etc. and then have your friends (and your supposed political foes) cover for you and excuse it by calling those that would like to know your past…..as KOOKS, or KRAZIES, or…….ewwww, “Birrrrrrthurs”.

Seems to have worked for the DESTROYER (I’m referring to Obama in this instance Governor Brewer).

BTW, Gov. Brewer…..Mitch Daniels is on the phone and would like to know if you’re interested in a Veep spot.

Governor Bev Pardue

Perdue says nope
Tue, Apr 19,2011
*******************

All that Gov. Beverly Perdue had to do, if she wanted to avoid being the bearer of bad news to some 37,000 out-of-work North Carolinians, was to let legislative Republicans dictate the terms of ongoing negotiations over the state budget.

No way, the governor said. Her latest veto was the right call, refusing to allow herself as the state’s chief executive to be painted into an intolerably tight corner.

But her latest veto stands properly on larger principles. With unemployed families hurting even more, let there be good-faith efforts on both sides to balance the budget in ways that do the least amount of damage.

Perdue’s change of birthdate
****************************
****************************

How old is Lt. Gov. Beverly Perdue?

In recent years, she’s said she was born on Jan. 14, 1947. But older news sources say she was born in 1948.

The most notable is her Ph.D. dissertation, which says in a brief biographical sketch that she was born in 1948. Files at the University of Florida, where she studied in the early ’70s, also say 1948.

A Perdue spokesman confirmed she was born in 1947, but he said she changed the year to please her first husband.

At the time she wrote her dissertation, she was married to Gary Perdue, an attorney. He was born on Oct. 6, 1947, making him seven months younger than she.

“At that time, it was the early ’70s, it was something that was important to her husband — and to the marriage — not to be married to somebody older than him,” said spokesman David Kochman.

The Perdues divorced in 1994. Gary Perdue died in 1997.

Cheshire Cat on April 25, 2011 at 10:25 PM

And birther-ism coupled with sure-loser (not to mention ideological poseurs) celebutard candidates like Donald Trump are paving the way for a second Obama term. Obama proving to be the single most destructive human being to have ever risen to the presidency, and can and must be destroyed on the campaign trail over his terrifying record. Fixating on conspiracy theories is merely ignoring his staggering factual weaknesses and playing instead to his few strengths. You can’t out-sh*t a sh*tter.

What needs to be focused on is the fact that it doesn’t matter where Obama was born: Even if it were Philadelphia, his policies are political philosophies are antithetical to the ideals of America’s founding. And his time in office so far has not only seen most of those ideals kicked to the dirt, but have brought the nation itself perilously close to fiscal catastrophe–and it’s rather unclear if this is due to mere incompetence on Obama’s part or actual deliberate design. If the best an opponent can come up with to campaign against that is this (at best) irresolvable birther nonsense, maybe we collectively do deserve the descent into third-world status that Obama, consciously or ineptly, is preparing for us.

Remember, ‘Birtherism’ started on the Left during the ’08 primary. But, like Vietnam, a war started and escalated by Democrats, Nixon was tarred and feathered by the media and the left and today, if you ask most people who were born after the war ended who was responsible for Vietnam, they would blame Nixon and by extension the Republicans. Thus, all this fuss over The Messiah’s birth certificate and the continual questions by the media to Republicans is just a replay of a tired, worn out narrative. After all, what is the big deal where a Messiah is born? We should just be glad that HE was the ONE we have been waiting for and HE has been delivered to US.

devolvingtowardsidiocracy on April 25, 2011 at 10:49 PM

What conspiracy theory?

He hasn’t released his birth certificate or pretty much anything from his past. That is a known fact.

So what are you talking about?

sharrukin on April 25, 2011 at 10:43 PM

It doesn’t matter. He got elected anyway. continuing to bring it up isn’t going to change that. Instead of focusing on the crap that won’t change the situation focus on his failed policies, his non-policies, his trampling of the constitution, and the excessive debt he’s ran up. That will guarantee a one-term presidency. Not the birther issues.

Stanley Ann Dunham, better known as President Barack Obama’s mother, passed away in 1995 before seeing her son become the most powerful man in the world.

In this weekend’s New York Times Magazine, Dunham gets a long profile adapted from Janny Scott’s forthcoming book, A Singular Woman: The Untold Story of Barack Obama’s Mother.

The article paints a portrait of a complex woman who traveled to Indonesia with her second husband, battled the customs while raising her son and new daughter, and eventually returned to Hawaii.(More……….)

Surely, even if Hawaii is 100% blue, there would be some disgruntled Hillary-ite who’d have spilled the beans. There is nothing here. Focus on the ecomomy.

Quick all you tea party members, try to scrub the internet of all of your “Brewer 2012!” comments before someone catches them!

Have you guys not learned your lesson yet? Sheesh.

NoStoppingUs on April 25, 2011 at 10:50 PM

No, Jan.

THIS is a path to destruction.

And THIS.

And THIS.

Obama may have been born in Hawaii, but he most probably is NOT a natural born citizen, since his reputed father was a British citizen.

Dufus – I though she was intelligent.

fred5678 on April 25, 2011 at 10:51 PM

So…

1. Ask for Obamas birth certificate.
2. ????
3. Destruction of America.

Good. I hope blacks get angry that Obama disgraced them. He sold them the same bill of goods he sold the rest of the country and he not only didn’t deliver, he gave the American public the finger for questioning asking the box was empty.

This is exactly the point that Walter Williams made about choosing wisely who will represent you.

Can you provide any links to “Brewer 2012!” comments by tea party members on this blog? Not saying they don’t exist, but I haven’t seen any, and I haven’t made any such comments.

The debt is adding $10,000 dollars a second and no 49 year old document will stop that.

Watching AC 360 with Trump and Gary Tuchman wore his shoe leather down and found someone that was born 13 hours after Obama and is 8 names up in the papers birth announcement. The very best, very legal and the only form he could get is the one that has already been released.

Jan Brewer: Birtherism is leading America “down a path of destruction”

Yeah, it’s so tacky to demand proof of an actual requirement in the U.S. Constitution. That natural born citizen thing is icky, too.

BTW Jan, Bobby called, he says he’s got balls enough for the both of you.

It doesn’t matter. He got elected anyway. continuing to bring it up isn’t going to change that.

mizflame98 on April 25, 2011 at 10:49 PM

Its the constitution and the rule of law. If it ceases to matter then nothing else does. We no longer have a government of law, but that of men.

Those who have the power and influence may determine the outcome regardless of what the constitution says or what the courts should say, or do say. Obama has ignored court orders, the declaration of unconstitutionality, acted with utter contempt towards the supreme court justices, the congress, and the people. He looks to continue to do so.

This isn’t some minor point. This is the heart of what makes the United States different than Argentina or Brazil.

sharrukin on April 25, 2011 at 11:01 PM

Focusing on a fantasy instead of on the hard ugly facts of our economy and our leaky border WILL lead us on a path to destruction…she’s right if that’s what she means

clnurnberg on April 25, 2011 at 11:01 PM

Jan apparently doesn’t recognize her own hypocrisy. Proofers expect the rule of law and basic Constitutional requirements to be enforced. (How in the world that might be considered a path to destruction boggles the mind.) Jan, on the other hand, expects the Feds to enforce the rule of law with respect to the border.

Scary lack of consistency there.

“Somebody got to her.” Quid pro quo of some sort?

/ Stranger things have happened.

For those who don’t think we can focus on more than one issue at a time, I beg to differ, particularly 18 mo. in advance of the election.

Expose all secreted documents. Learn the truth. Those who argue against learning the truth – in favor of sweeping Constitutional eligibility requirements under the rug – are the ones who seriously annoy me.

Opinionator on April 25, 2011 at 11:11 PM

These candidates and Brewer are missing the big picture — who was the father not where he was born. His mother was too young to give him citizenship so his Dad would have been the path to citizenship and since he was not American but a British citizen at the time, Obama would not be eligible to run but that keeps getting missed.

PhiKapMom on April 25, 2011 at 11:12 PM

At first I was angry with her, but now I’m not so sure. The 800 pound elephant in the room is Black anger if their guy is disgraced. Racial tensions haven’t been this high since the 70s. Perhaps that’s what she means. She can’t really come out and state that overtly. Think: if someone ever got a hand on him, there’d be blood in the streets. That’s why I pray for his safety every night. Exposing him as a fraud might be almost as destructive, even if true.

ahem on April 25, 2011 at 10:35 PM

Bammie is in far more danger from the radical far left, that thinks he is not radical enough. That’s pretty much the case for any president, Republican or democratic.

slickwillie2001 on April 25, 2011 at 11:16 PM

“Currently, Title 8 of the U.S. Code fills in the gaps left by the Constitution. Section 1401 defines the following as people who are “citizens of the United States at birth:”

•Anyone born inside the United States *
•Any Indian or Eskimo born in the United States, provided being a citizen of the U.S. does not impair the person’s status as a citizen of the tribe
•Any one born outside the United States, both of whose parents are citizens of the U.S., as long as one parent has lived in the U.S.
•Any one born outside the United States, if one parent is a citizen and lived in the U.S. for at least one year and the other parent is a U.S. national
•Any one born in a U.S. possession, if one parent is a citizen and lived in the U.S. for at least one year
•Any one found in the U.S. under the age of five, whose parentage cannot be determined, as long as proof of non-citizenship is not provided by age 21
•Any one born outside the United States, if one parent is an alien and as long as the other parent is a citizen of the U.S. who lived in the U.S. for at least five years (with military and diplomatic service included in this time)
•A final, historical condition: a person born before 5/24/1934 of an alien father and a U.S. citizen mother who has lived in the U.S.”

Please, just stop..it’s the economy people

You just named off a whole list of things that can guarantee his loss in 2012 but you prefer to focus on his birth certificate and school transcripts. That is what makes no sense. You’ll have a better chance of getting the document after he’s president than while he’s in office. If you all really want the mystery solved then you better focus on the points you mentioned as well as the economy and the broken campaign promises. He will easily be treated like Carter in 2012, but if you all keep up with this birther crap, you’ll guarantee an Obama win.

mizflame98 on April 25, 2011 at 11:17 PM

If little Bammie’s undocumented status becomes accepted, might that give the Black vote ‘a way out’, a way to justify dropping their support for him, to themselves?

slickwillie2001 on April 25, 2011 at 11:19 PM

I swear, every time this subject comes up I feel like I’m stuck in an episode of the X Files.

Nonsense.

Opinionator on April 25, 2011 at 11:21 PM

She took a lot of heat for the immigration bill so maybe she’s not interested in taking a lot more heat for something she considers a dead end. And it was a poorly crafted bill. I’m sure Linda Lingle has seen the long form BC and knows the reason why Obama doesn’t want it made public. She probably didn’t share that information with her fellow gal-pal Republican governors, but was able to satisfy any of their concerns about Obama’s birthplace.

SukieTawdry on April 25, 2011 at 11:21 PM

So it wasn’t the “language” of the bill, it’s “birtherism” itself! This is an outrage.

C’mon, Jindal! Show us you have more courage than Brewer!
