I don't know about the Second Version, but the First version is absolutely fake and bogus. It has been thoroughly debunked as a hoax.

I would put no faith in any document purported to be from Kenya, or any computer print-out from Hawaii either. :)

<blockquote>Is this the GOP equivalent of the poll showing some 40% of Dems were Truthers and thought Bush did 9/11?

</blockquote>

Yes, but that actually reflects pretty well on us. Every large group on this country contains a healthy percentage of really dumb people. It's almost a tautology, like the shocking fact that as much as 50% of people are below average.

The left's dumbest people believe in a conspiracy to murder thousands of people that common sense says is impossible to pull off. But much more importantly, it is so nutty that it can be dismissed out of hand with no knowledge whatsoever about anything.

Birtherism, on the other hand, requires some knowledge, or at least some thought, to reject, as Allah has pointed out. If I didn't follow politics, and didn't remember the constitutional citizenship requirement, I'd probably assume he was born somewhere else too. And I wouldn't care, not knowing it was illegal.

Also, if I didn't spend much time thinking about it, a cover-up wouldn't seem so ridiculous, since I'd assume it just meant bribing a handful of low-level state employees.

<blockquote>I would be more correct to say that Abercrombie “tacitly admitted” that he could not find the Birth Certificate.

...

These are his very words when asked about Obama’s Birth Certificate:

“It was actually written, I am told, this is what our investigation is showing, it actually exists in the archives, written down,”

Interpretation: There is no Birth Certificate.

sartana on April 22, 2011 at 12:56 AM</blockquote>

I don't interpret that the same way at all. I interpret his comments to mean that the written information does exist. At most, he was saying that it's hand written.

<blockquote>Remember, Abercrombie made himself famous by announcing that, once Governor, he would release Obama’s BC and end the controversy. For weeks after being elected he remained silent on the issue and only spoke on it when questioned by an interviewer. </blockquote>

I remember, but I have no problem believing that he was too stupid to know that he couldn't release it without Obama's permission. Interestingly, you have to wonder how many Birthers voted for him because of his promise.

<blockquote>People can debate the meaning of the term “natural-born citizen” as long as they like but this is clear: If, in 1961, 17 year old Ann Dunham gave birth to a child on foreign soil whose father was not an American citizen, then the Immigration and Nationality Act at that time denied Barack Obama any right to American citizenship of any kind.

I looked into this, and it appears that you are correct (however, his mother would have been 18 [and almost 19] when Obama was born).

So, since his mother had Obama prior to her 19th birthday, then Obama wouldn't have been made a citizen IF she didn't have him in the United States (or Hawaii).

So, this would appear to provide motivation for someone (like his grandparents) to attempt to claim that Obama was born in Hawaii.

Score one for the birthers.

Occam's razor people! What's supposed to be in the file is NOT what is in the file. Instead of there being a simple long form BC in the file, that is not what is there. This is what Obama is trying to hide. There is supposed to be 36 pieces of information on a Hawaii BC, none of them have to do with religion, or political affilliation. If people find out what is in the file is not what is expected to be there than there willbe MORE questions about other parts of his life. To release his BC at this late date is too little too late, the issue is BEYOND CRITICAL MASS. This issue is in JFK assasination conspiracy theory teritory now. The distrust of Obama will only GROW, he had the chance to diffuse the issue, and he did nothing to diffuse it. I believe the media have been making up talking points for each other about the BC. People's distrust of Obama is only going to grow, incidents of Obama supporters protesting him are going to INCREASE.

I haven't seen any evidence that Obama was born in another country but the way WND has carried on about it makes me think that they've been sitting on some proof.
This sort of stuff wouldn't happen if he were forthcoming with details and documents on stuff like his college records and writings. When you refuse to answer reasonable questions, people begin to wonder what you're hiding.

However, if there were any real doubts about his place of birth, Stanley Kurtz would probably have written about it by now.

Furthermore, even if proof were to surface at this late date, I doubt that any court would be willing to throw things into chaos by declaring the office vacant. Besides, if that were to happen, do we really want Joe Biden to replace him?

Extraordinary claims require extraordinary proof and not the kind of bilge Trump has been spouting. If he swears before the appropriate filing officials that he was born in the U.S., you'd have to prove that he knowingly lied about it, and if that could be done, he probably couldn't be charged with anything until he was out of office. At this point the burden of proof is on the birthers and they only look like idiots to keep raising suspicions without having rock solid, incontrovertible proof.
I hope that he wasn't born in the U.S. and is guilty of willfully committing one of the biggest scams of all time- and that, as a result, he and his co-conspirator, Big Moochelle, spend some quality time together in prison.

Or that his original name was Alice.

Either works for me.

Yes, "recording" and "birth record" (Fukina) seem to be the go to descriptions with regard to whatever may be on file in Hawaii. Anything <em>but</em> a long form birth certificate seems to be available.

We have a COLB, disputed in authenticity, with nothing to back it up. And we have "written notations" with nothing to back <em>them</em> up.

We have a lot of questions, too.

There is only ONE person responsible for this issue going on for so long.

Because Obama is the ONLY person who could settle it.

Most likely he was born in Hawaii. But he is definately either hiding something embarassing or untruthful OR he is simply so arrogant that no one is going to tell him what he has to do and peasants don't order the king around.

Either way, I say push the issue till he has to show it, if it exists.

Who does he think he is? I think he really does believe he is the anointed one and we should all just be grateful he exists.

After all, does GOD have a birth certificate?

<blockquote>These disloyal criminal birthers are going to drive us all nuts! This whole matter has already been put to rest! Rahm Emanuel and David Axelrod have both given their highest personal assurance that they have seen the Divine One’s actual long form Certification of Live Immaculate Conception and in Holy Script! Rahm Emanuel saw it from one hospital and David Axelrod saw it from another one! Twice the absolute incontrovertible proof! I don’t know what more any sane person could possibly want! Besides the Queen of Hearts says that she thinks he has cute ears and looks so sexy in his mom jeans so that would settle the matter right there anyway.

Members of the jury, loyal Hotair Sheeple and the honorable Mr. A. Pundit, the prisoners at the bar, one Terry Lakin, and various other assorted and sundry miscreant John Does, who all have bench warrants outstanding, all stand accused of engaging in a vile and mass conspiracy of trying to goad Barack Hussein Obama, our Dear Leader with the Certification of Live Immaculate Conception from no less than two locations, and at lest two parents of unquestionable American loyalties and citizenship, into a game of COLB, thereby and with malice of forethought, molesting, tormenting, and otherwise annoying our beloved Dear Leader, his wonderful wife Michelle Antoinette, and all their loyal subjects. Verdict first, evidence later. Off with their heads!

The Trump needs to keep hammering this. I'll take this and any other issue that drags "the won" down and out come 2012.

I think he is hiding something, but the fact of the matter is even if the fool was born in Russia the courts have ruled once elected and sworn in there is nothing you can do but impeach.

Death of a thousand cuts works if need be.
