I think there is a possibility that he will be placed in prison. If he is not it will be because of the mercy (and fear of riots) of the court.

I would say that dismissing a plausible idea without having thought it through is one of our stupidest ideas.

I think there is a there there. Obama’s behavior reinforces this notion.

I don’t know about the Second Version, but the First version is absolutely fake and bogus. It has been thoroughly debunked as a hoax.

I would put no faith in any document purported to be from Kenya, or any computer print-out from Hawaii either. :)

Yes, but that actually reflects pretty well on us. Every large group on this country contains a healthy percentage of really dumb people. It’s almost a tautology, like the shocking fact that as much as 50% of people are below average.

The left’s dumbest people believe in a conspiracy to murder thousands of people that common sense says is impossible to pull off. But much more importantly, it is so nutty that it can be dismissed out of hand with no knowledge whatsoever about anything.

Birtherism, on the other hand, requires some knowledge, or at least some thought, to reject, as Allah has pointed out. If I didn’t follow politics, and didn’t remember the constitutional citizenship requirement, I’d probably assume he was born somewhere else too. And I wouldn’t care, not knowing it was illegal.

Also, if I didn’t spend much time thinking about it, a cover-up wouldn’t seem so ridiculous, since I’d assume it just meant bribing a handful of low-level state employees.

In short, trutherism and birtherism are their and our respective stupidest ideas, and theirs is crushing ours in the stupidity contest.

I would be more correct to say that Abercrombie “tacitly admitted” that he could not find the Birth Certificate.

I don’t interpret that the same way at all. I interpret his comments to mean that the written information does exist. At most, he was saying that it’s hand written.

Remember, Abercrombie made himself famous by announcing that, once Governor, he would release Obama’s BC and end the controversy. For weeks after being elected he remained silent on the issue and only spoke on it when questioned by an interviewer.

I remember, but I have no problem believing that he was too stupid to know that he couldn’t release it without Obama’s permission. Interestingly, you have to wonder how many Birthers voted for him because of his promise.

People can debate the meaning of the term “natural-born citizen” as long as they like but this is clear: If, in 1961, 17 year old Ann Dunham gave birth to a child on foreign soil whose father was not an American citizen, then the Immigration and Nationality Act at that time denied Barack Obama any right to American citizenship of any kind.

I looked into this, and it appears that you are correct (however, his mother would have been 18 [and almost 19] when Obama was born).

So, since his mother had Obama prior to her 19th birthday, then Obama wouldn’t have been made a citizen IF she didn’t have him in the United States (or Hawaii).

So, this would appear to provide motivation for someone (like his grandparents) to attempt to claim that Obama was born in Hawaii.

Score one for the birthers.

At this point the burden of proof is on the birthers and they only look like idiots to keep raising suspicions without having rock solid, incontrovertible proof. Until that proof is forthcoming, the birthers are just cranks and nuts.

However, if there were any real doubts about his place of birth, Stanley Kurtz would probably have written about it by now.

Furthermore, even if proof were to surface at this late date, I doubt that any court would be willing to throw things into chaos by declaring the office vacant. Besides, if that were to happen, do we really want Joe Biden to replace him?

Extraordinary claims require extraordinary proof and not the kind of bilge Trump has been spouting. If he swears before the appropriate filing officials that he was born in the U.S., you’d have to prove that he knowingly lied about it, and if that could be done, he probably couldn’t be charged with anything until he was out of office. Yes, “recording” and “birth record” (Fukina) seem to be the go to descriptions with regard to whatever may be on file in Hawaii. Anything but a long form birth certificate seems to be available.

We have a COLB, disputed in authenticity, with nothing to back it up. And we have “written notations” with nothing to back them up.

We have a lot of questions, too.

Because Obama is the ONLY person who could settle it.

Most likely he was born in Hawaii. But he is definately either hiding something embarassing or untruthful OR he is simply so arrogant that no one is going to tell him what he has to do and peasants don’t order the king around.

Either way, I say push the issue till he has to show it, if it exists.

Who does he think he is? I think he really does believe he is the anointed one and we should all just be grateful he exists.
